Chapter 1 ONE

"Don't you know I get so worried when you take actions like that?! If you don't care about your own well-being, at least consider how the people who love you would feel!", Carla yelled. Lucas thought she was cute even while she was upset. "Say one more word and I'd kiss you", Lucas bluntly muttered. Carla was dumbfounded. "W-what did ..", Carla stuttered but was interrupted by Lucas again. He covered the space between them and spoke in a husky tone, "You sure want me to kiss the living daylights out of you, till we're both breathless from passion", Lucas teased.

Carla swallowed saliva nervously. "Chill Carla", Lucas laughed at her silence and reached out to hold her hand. As soon as their hands met, a force seemed to propel them apart in opposite directions. Alvaro's eyes were wide open, like he'd seen a ghost. "Luis, I know daydreaming is only meant for daytime, but I just experienced it at night. Or maybe it's this sacred place. It's making me halluci..", Alvaro was interrupted by Luis. "Hush! I just heard someone behind the trees", Luis whispered. They were surrounded by a grove of tall trees, most of them over three centuries old, and now a hideaway for hooting owls and the stench of death. "Or maybe I'm just being paranoid. It must have been the wind, there's definitely nothing to worry about", barely convincing himself. Alvaro shook in fear, "I told you coming here was a bloody risk. We both know what happens to anyone caught wandering around this sacred site.." When he saw how adamant Luis was, he made a decision, "Fuck this! I'm leaving". The site was believed to be the home of the supreme god of Méxica, ‘Huitzilopochtli’. On it is an old mansion said to have been a sacred altar of the Huitzilopochtli and declared forbidden to the sight of ordinary man. Even now in the 90s, the hallowed rule remains. Now running back through the dark, creepy, rarely treaded path of El Padrino, Alvaro stopped and wondered if he had made the right decision leaving his best friend there. He could already see the street lights and going back through that lonely path didn't seem to be an option, so he headed home. Back at the sacred site, Luis saw the figure of a man rising from the shadows, so he tried to hide find cover behind a tree but wasn't quick enough. "Come out, you trespasser! You've been spotted and will face the consequences!", yelled the guard running towards Luis’ hiding point but sees no one there. The Guard turn and ran through the opposite path to report to the Guatemoc, head of the people of El Padrino. Feet running as fast as they could, heart thudding in his chest as he dodged trees, bushes and low branches, accompanied by the rustling of the wind, Luis kept his pace until he got to the door to his house. Scared he had been tracked, he climbed up to his room through the window at the back of the building. Finally in the comfort of his home, he heaved a sigh of relief. "Shit! What just happened?"... Luis paced back and forth. “I’m so dead!", he panicked. "This is all Alvaro's fault, the fool quit on me!" He kept pacing but suddenly stopped. A wicked grin replaced his worry lines as an idea popped up in his head. ******* Quickly the sun was up, a clear blue sky, birds chirping, a few people up and ready for what the day had to offer. Luis was up and on his way to the Guatemoc to execute the brilliant plan. Meanwhile news had already spread about the hunt of the trespasser. Guatemoc was surrounded by hefty men and an angry mob when Luis came strolling in. "Lìder Guatemoc, I know this man whom you seek", he said, catching their attention. "He told me about his plan to sneak into the site of Huitzilopochtli", Luis continued. "La Abominación! Take me to him now!!", Guatemoc fumed. ****** Alvaro was woken up by the angry shouts of a large crowd. "What's going on?", he thought to himself as he slowly got off his bed. He looked out of his window and saw them headed for his house. Nervous but curious, he rushed to the door. The first person he set his eyes on was Luis. Luis pointed at him, "That's the man" he said to the Guatemoc. "Seize him", Guatemoc ordered "What the hell?" Alvaro made a quick attempt to lock the door but was overpowered by the persecutors. "Luis!" Alvaro called but only got a cold stare. "What's going on? Luis!" He struggled but was no match for his captors. He was dragged through the streets while the angry mob chorused, "kill him!" He was taken to the inferno where he was beaten with the Latigò of Aztec and tied to a wooden cross while everyone watched. He had been beaten to a pulp, when the Guatemoc stood up from his seat, "You visited the sacred site and have been found guilty of sacrilege". "Rehén, now you're given a chance to speak. What do you have to say? Asked the Guatemoc. "I am innocent!, Alvaro yelled and he directed his gaze to Luis. "How could you watch me go through this when you know who the real offender is?". All he got from Luis was an unapologetic look. Eyes filled with hatred, anger, anguish and revenge, he yelled "This is Injustice! I Will Come For You!", he screamed as he felt the terror of being set ablaze. All that could be heard was his screams and curses. **** Even in the pitch black, he could feel the screams and anguish of souls facing damnation before final judgment. Subdued by pains and almost giving in to defeat, Alvaro struggled to open his eyes. "Where am I?", he asked looking around, taken aback by this new place he found himself. "Purgatory", the words were thundered by Asmodeus. Asmodeus was the King of Demons and a Prince of Hell, a giant over thirteen feet tall, with a hooked nose, pointy ears and teeth, fire spurting from his mouth. He had dark skin and hair, red eyes, small horns but extremely handsome features. He was a demon of revenge with 72 legions of demons under his command. "I was not supposed to die now, I'm not supposed to be here", Alvaro whimpered. "mmmm", Asmodeous growled. "You stink of... What is it you desire? Name it! Who do you want dead, give me a name and it'll be done", Asmodeous was stopped abruptly by Alvaro. "Revenge! Not just against Luis and the people who ended my life but the world as a whole. I was good but I was despised and treated as the black goat, the bad blood", Alvaro said breathless from rage. The fire in Asmodeous eyes and mouth intensified like it had been refueled, "It comes with a price. You offer me what remains of you, but in return I will give you power the world is yet to see. You will be unstoppable and only the one born of the vampire, the most powerful werewolf and angel blood can defeat you", Asmodeous finished, with cackling that shook the earth. *** Alvaro woke up in the woods. He walked to the river to stare at his reflection. He had the fangs of a vampire, long slick hairs like that of a werewolf, long claws, bright red eyes, and large feet with claws that he found he could control. He howled in satisfaction. He began a run towards the village. His steps grew quicker and swifter. Luis was coming home from work whistling. He passed by the woods and remembered the whole ordeal with Alvaro. Luis stopped, “It was better him than me", he said as he shrugged off the feeling of guilt. As he started towards home, a deformed human-like figure appeared in front of him. Terrified, he began to beat a hasty retreat, turning and running in the opposite direction. A much faster Alvaro caught up with him, lifted him up by the scruff, in an attempt to choke him. "Remember me, dear friend? You did this to me", he said with hatred. Luis looked confused until it all came together. "Alvaro?? Alvaro, I'm so sorry, I did not mean to, I…” Luis was interrupted by Alvaro who flung him like he was a piece of paper, at a tree. "Mercy!!" was Luis' last ‘words’ as Alvaro tore him to shreds. His pitiful screaming filled the night. Alvaro went on a revenge spree, killing all the perseguidores and Guatemoc gruesomely. Mission accomplished, he suddenly calmed and went into a deep sleep. Asmodeous had stilled his soul for a greater purpose. His story heard far and wide became the foundation of myths. Some even worshipped him, creating an occult of loyal followers.
