Unexpected Mate

‘That’s my main one, that’s my main one’ Mila J’s voice rings from the cell phone under Raven’s pillow.

She immediately jumps up and starts looking for her phone, unable to hide her joy. Only one person was assigned this ringtone on Raven’s phone. Her best friend, Lily.

“Goooood morning sleepyhead!” Lily said as soon as Raven answered her FaceTime call. “Eww, you have some drool right there. Who were you dreaming of?”

“Shut up!” Raven screamed checking her reflection on the video. “Drool where?”

“Mystery handsome mate was in your dreams again I see?” Lily replied laughing at her best friend.

“He won’t be a mystery for much longer,” Raven smirked.

“Yeah yeah, just try not to be too disappointed if your actual mate looks nothing like the fantasy mate you created!” Lily laughs at her friend once again.

“I know the Moon Goddess would never disappoint me. You wait and see, my mate will make every unmated she-wolf in this pack drool.” She says confidently. “Scratch that, he WILL make every single she-wolf drool. Mated or unmated.”

The 2 best friends laugh and make plans to meet in one hour at their favorite café on the pack territory. Raven’s 18th birthday was coming up in one week and they had to finalize their plan for the special day.

Raven and Lily have been friends for as long as they could remember. Their mothers had been elementary school best friends and grew closer with age. They were even pregnant together and due around the same date. However, Raven’s mother gave birth 2 months earlier since she was pregnant with twins. The girls always talk about how fun it could have been if they had the same birthday.

After checking all her social media notifications, Raven finally decided to start getting ready for her meeting with Lily. As she walked out of her room, her twin brother Ryan ran past her and went straight to the bathroom locking the door quickly.

“You snooze you, loose sis,” he yelled through the door.

“I hate you!” She yelled back and made her way into her parents' room.

“I love you too Rav,” Ryan laughed.

Raven hated being late so she decided to shower in her parents’ bathroom since Ryan always too forever in the shower.

‘I don’t even know what he does in there for so long,' she thought to herself as she walked out of her parents’ room noticing that Ryan was still in the bathroom.

It was a beautiful summer day. So, Raven decided to wear a short summer dress with some cute sandals Lily got her last year. As soon as she walked out of the house, Sean, her brother's best friend bumped into her as he was rushing into the house.

"Here for breakfast again Sean?" Raven said shaking her head and laughing.

"You know I can't have a good day unless I start it with your mom's waffles," he said making his way into the kitchen.

Raven just laughed and started walking to the cafe.

"I still think we should do a joint party this year," Lily said. "This year more than ever, you'll need all of Ryan's friends there. One of them could end up being you mate Rav!"

"I've celebrated every birthday with Rayn since we were one! There's no way I'm giving this up. For the first time, dad agreed to let us have our own parties and I plan to take advantage of it."

"True but you do realize that uncle B only agreed to keep you away from the boys that night right?"

"I know, but it's not like any of Rayn's looser friends could be my mate," Raven while Lily's eyes grew wide. "I mean, all they do is hang around the packhouse doing absolutely nothing. I can beat every one of them at sparing and I sure as hell do not want a mate weaker than I am."

"Well, are you sure we don't just let you win?" a voice came from behind Raven.

Raven jumped up and found herself face to face with Asher, the Alpha's son and one of Ryan's best friends.
