Chapter 1 Terrible

"I said, open the door!" I sighed heavily upon hearing those hatred words from my uncle. I sobbed.

The pain of the past had tattooed in my heart. I remember that they're manipulating me since then.

"Please, don't h-hurt me–" I stumbled upon being slapped by him after I opened the door.

I forced to open my eyes even though my sight were trying to figure out his features. The jagged surface of the wall severely hit my back as I kept retreating at him.

A squeal escaped my mouth when he gripped my hair and pulled it up. "What the fuck are you trying to be? A freaking worthless?" He said as he leaned towards me. A smell of alcohol from his mouth invaded my nostrils.

"U-uncle, what do you want?" these words successively escaped from my bruised mouth.

A fresh slap reaches my sluggish face, resulting me to tumble on the ground. I gently caressed my cheeks upon glaring at him.

"Go find a job, you worthless bitch!" He agressively yelled after shoving me an empty bottle of vodka. Luckily, I avoided from being stoned by him.

"You're useless, Isabelle!" He said firmly, tearing my heart apart. At this moment, I could no longer stop my supressing tears. My heart broke into pieces, leaving me aggrieved to myself.

I started to work off my ass ever since for them to the point that, I put their interests first ahead of my own. And now, he had the audacity to call me useless?

"I did everything, uncle. Isn't that enough?" I asked in a fragile tone upon sobbing. He didn't answer, I knew what he meant for that.

I began to shiver upon feeling a blood streaming down on my face. They're wrecking my life, the pain of his anguish painted on my memories. It became part of my life to fight against his anger.

"What do you think you're doing? " I heard a shout from somewhere, that voice belongs to my aunt. I mustered up the courage to stare at it despite the blurring of my vision.

"A-aunt…" She hugged me tightly after she got close to me. I shed my tears away after she kissed my forehead.

She held my hands upon helping me to get up. "Really, Brandon? You're hurting someone over that freaking alcohol?" She fired back.

"Shut the fuck up, Matilda!"

She wiped the blood from my face. "Let's get out of here. I'll treat your bruises." I nodded upon wiping my tears fled from my swollen eyes.

"Here, sit down. I'll get some medicines." She shook her head as a sign of resisting anger.

I was left stunned, remembering the traumatic past that happened. I don't know what I did wrong to hurt me like that. He's always blaming me about his unfulfilled plans in life.

The torments in my life cannot be forgotten. Since then, my life's situation became worst. He deliberately put me in a complicated situation to make me suffer.

"What happened, Isabelle?" her perturbed voice attained my attention as she sat next to me.

"I don't have an idea, Aunt. All I could remember was he hurted me for no apparent reason." I said with a trembling tone, a tear of emotion started to form in the corner of my eyes.

She stamped the cotton to my bruises. "I've talked to him last week regarding this but, don't worry. I'll talk to him again." She said.

"Please, no. It'll cause more trouble between the both of you." I pleaded, wincing at the pain that my wound is giving me.

I frowned upon her words resonated to my ears. "Why did you do that, anyway?" I asked with a tinge of curiosity.

I don't have an idea of what's going on, really. She changed these past few weeks, don't even know the reason why. She doesn't care whenever uncle's hurting me. What happened now?

She bit her paled lips. "Nothing. I just want someone to love you like the way I did." I slightly furrowed.

My gaze landed on the floor. "Tell me the truth, please. Who gave me the bouquet of roses last time? Who was it?" I ask in a baffled mind, leaving her an astonishing reaction as I caught her eyes.

"I bought that for you, Isabelle. Who do you think would buy that for you?" She gently tapped my shoulder then, flashes me a wide smile.

I reciprocated the smile. "Thank you." I held her hand from my shoulder.

"Matilda, come here!" Uncle Brandon's deep voice thundered from afar, interrupting our conversation. I could see the bafflement in her eyes.

"This dude." She sighed upon nodding her head. "Just stay here, lemme just talk to him." She caressed my cheeks, stood up and hurried out.

I combed my slightly ruffled hair as I look into the mirror. I sighed upon looking at my miserable face.

"Isabelle, wake up!" I said upon giving slaps on myself.

This is not the life that I dreamed of!

I wonder what my life will be over the next few years.

"Matilda, this will get us out of trouble!" I frowned upon hearing uncle's voice. He sounds horrible, that's not the way he talks to his wife.

I walked closer to the room. I could hear them battling with each other, even hearing things that has stoned to the floor.

The trace of speculation on my face lingered. What are they talking about?

"Why can't you wait, Brandon?" She asked.

The bafflement succumbs myself, still trying to figure out those words.

"Seriously? You're being dumb over her. It's a huge amount of money, just fucking do the right thing!" His voice echoed inside.

He's a peevish person, couldn't even control his anger. It's easy for him to throw hands to someone if he's drunk out of being conquered by alcohol.

I could hear aunt's bawl. I clasped my hands upon biting my lips in anguish.

"It's fucking ten million, Matilda. Just agree to him!" He said, leaving me an unexpected reaction.

Ten million? What?

"Fine." She said. "I'll do this for you." I heard a crack from her voice.

I heard a sigh from the other side. Seems like it's a huge problem for them both. I stayed quiet, letting my lingering tears stream down.

"That's right, Matilda. Sell that girl to Harris!" I heave a breath, loathing to his words.

I knew that he was pertaining to me. I wasn't expected this terrible day! I-I can't...

Sell me in exchange of ten million dollars? This is illegal.

N-no...
