"What have I ever done to you that I should be punished like this?" I inquired, my tears blending with the rain drops on my face. To protect the little dignity left in me, I encircled myself with my arms. His tone dropped to that of an iceberg, and he only responded in a clipped manner. "You are nothing and you will forever remain nothing," Axel breathed, touching the phantom hairs on my lips. Harley Black is my name. A typical loyal and law abiding student. I thought moving to Hidenville held promises of adventures but I was only gifted with taunts and torments, because since my first day in Hidenville; I have been greatly disliked by my high school renowned bad-boy, Axel Kanik. Who happened to be my unrequited passing fantasy. Axel kanik had proved through his taunts that he wants zero thing to do with me. But I can't keep taking his torments cause of a past, he refused to let go. A past he believes I was sent from hell to pass a judgment of ephialtes on him. However, right now, I only have two options: either I fight back or Axel and his shadows hurl me into the abyss of darkness.

Chapter 1 East meets West

Harley's POV

Perched at the edge of my bed, my thoughts skittered about school resumption. Facing the ones who made my life a living hell at Belldean High.

They call themselves the shadows. Popular, notorious, villainous and unforgivably handsome males lead by Hidenville conglomerate arrogant son~ Axel Kanik.

I quivered as his name ran through my memory. Goosebumps covered my entire body, giving me a bittersweet feeling. Axel and his coterie have been a constant thorn in my life since tenth grade.

Always there to taunt, gibe and hackle my existence. Axel's threat danced in my mind everyday since our last encounter before the summer break.

"Just know I am always there to shadow your life." His throaty voice had reverberated through the empty school hall.

I jiggled my head to steer it clear of the threat. But my restless mind won't stop running around and the first day Axel bedeviled me, came back to my head with a spasm of hurt.

Flashback

When my mother and I finished unpacking, the midday sun was competing with the night cloud. My mother appeared exhausted, but I still felt a lot of energy. Maybe as a result of the excitement of discovering every inch of our new house. Due to my mother's job transfer, we had to relocate to Hidenville.

When my mother told me the news, a goofy smile spread across my face because I was excited to leave Cape Town. Even though Cape Town was a nice place to stay, my antic spirit remained. I braggingly announced to my friends that I was leaving town.

Oh yeah, my mum had been unhappy about it but she had no choice but to comply.

I went outside to breathe in the fresh Hidenville air and strolled along the street. In comparison to Cape Town's sparse old block house arrangement, the houses here are very different. On both sides of the street, tall duplex homes were arranged in a line after one another. I was happy that ours was staged in the center. monitoring the homes on the street's both sides. My mother said to a member of her family that the house cost her a fortune with a hell of a lot of mother's exaggeration complex.

But a house stood gloriously in well defined structure and beauty at the end of the boulevard. Light adorned it's high fenced wall. It was painted white and glimmered like, little crystals were mixed with the white paint.

'Wow!' I exclaimed.

If Cape Town screamed modesty and solitude, Hiddenvill exuded money and adventure promises, I enjoy going on adventures. Cheers to Harley Jane Black's new base of exploration. I whispered to myself.

'Danny Coffee Home' I read the emblem at the entrance as i trod into a vast coffee room. I stood in awe of the coffee home until I got distracted by a boy – out worldly appearance.

He sat at a table arc, surrounded by a group of friends, I didn't bother to look at because I was enamored by his beauty. His shiny brown hair was shaved at both sides. His full lips curled at what a girl said beside him. His crescent moon eyebrows were black, thick and narrow. I have never seen anyone make an aquiline nose look so good. His angular high cheekbones were youthfully carved down towards his sharp ridge jaw.

I drooled over him, until he caught me checking him out. I inhaled as his sharp blue eyes widen in surprise when his gaze met mine and another emotion which had a semblance to hurt flashed across them.

Before his eyes turned cold and dark. With heart racing in different direction, I flushed and saunter quickly towards the counter.

"Vhat do you vant?" A burly guy asked in a soft Hungarian accent.

"A pack of brownie" I said when the yummy brownies honked at me from their gilded glass "and a cup of coffee. Cappuccino precisely."

I sneaked a look at drop dead over my shoulder and his intense stare was still on me, I slightly turned my head and blushed hard.

Cauldrons help me! I rub my cheeks.

"New girl?" The Hungarian guy asked me. And passed me my order which accepted with a soft smile.

"Yea" Captain obvious

"Guessed as much. Steer clear of 'em. They are bad news, girl. Big bad news. Predominately the one your dreamy eyes couldn't leave" he tilted his head towards the drop dead gorgeous boy table.

Oops! I never knew it was obvious; that I was gawking. Pathetic me!

"Sure. Yeah. Whatever" I replied, dumbfounded by his sudden warning. I collected my order and stepped out of the coffee shop.

I didn't know drop dead gorgeous was outside until I was grabbed by his calloused boyish hands and swung round to face his admirable features. His blue eyes that shined like the night glittering stars, scrutinized me.

"Why do you remind me of her?" Although he inquired calmly, there was a slight edge to his voice. My wrist was encircled by his tensed fingers. It will undoubtedly darken the skin. He observed that I flinched beneath his intense gaze. His lips gave up to a schizophrenic grin.

Okay, he is batshit crazy. Seriously? Is this a new in town welcome show or drop dead needs to visit the asylum?

"Answer me" he drawled, his eyes turned untamed at my confused state which I'm sure he viewed as silence.

Hunger guy was right. Bad news! Drop dead is a bad news.

"Excuse me?" I returned his question with a question and forcefully jerked back my hand from his grip. Pain tingle my entire body.

Damn! All ounce of admiration for him evacuated my mind but not before it left a jolt of feelings at the pit of my tummy.

'If you believe you can crawl out of a hell hole, looking all like her,' who on earth is the she? I intended to ask him." I'll bind your ass back to hell before you become my worst nightmare. It is a promise."

He shoved me away from him before I had a chance to respond. He then went back into the coffee shop while wiping his hands on his black suede jacket like he had touched some filth.

What the actual hell just happened?

I observed his friends laughing as I gazed at him through the clear coffee shop window.

My body flooded over with feelings of disgust, abhorrence, stupidity, perplexity, and loathing. all at once. I managed to hold back my sobs and ran home.
