Chapter 1 Where it all began

"Trish I'm tired," All she could hear was her mother's frail voice calling to her. She was only 13 at the time and did not know what to do.

Her mother had been sick for almost three years, she had to quit school because of her mother's condition. Seeing her in this state broke her heart. Her once happy mother had been reduced to nothing but an empty woman with hollow cheeks, dilated eyes, her with dry and cracked skin. Watching her die each and single day broke her heart into tiny pieces.

Ever since she can remember Nancy was all she had. She had been her father and mother, always making sure she lacked nothing. Not that she did not have a father, her father was a wealthy man but he had another family and wanted nothing to do with them.

She remembered the office well because her mother had once gone with her to ask for help with her school fees which obviously never turned out well. Her mother had been humiliated and thrown out of the premises like a common criminal.

Putting all those thoughts behind her, she looked at the building right in front of her. This was her father's company and just looking at the building entrance scared her to bits.
