After killing his tyrant father, Alpha River who now runs West Wind Pack, is disturbed by the many enemies the previous alpha left behind. Although he tries to make peace, there are still hundreds out for revenge. One of them was Circe, a witch who vowed to kill River after what his father did to her entire coven. However things started to change when she finds out he was fated mate. Will she keep the promise she have for her coven, or will she embrace this new found happiness her mate is giving her.
For 3 years, Alpha River, of the West Wind Pack has been living to pay the debt his tyrant father, Augustus Lowell caused. Though they were the biggest and strongest pack in the world, the old alpha had caused tons of werewolves and other creatures as enemies.
He conquered many lands, raped the prettiest women and killed as many lives as he could. He was to be written as the most horrible alpha in werewolf history. He wanted all the power and all the glory, many challenged him but his drive for blood made him ruthless and strong. HE was becoming a big problem for their identity and someone had to put an end to all of it.
It wasn't until his own son, the heir to his land and titles, challenged him and eventually killing him did it all stop.
River has been living to reverse all of his father's wrongs in order to keep peace and balance in the world. But he knows how much darkness and pain his father did when he was living. A lot of children orphaned, wives widowed and parents who buried their own child. Up to this day, a lot still tried to end his life.
"Alpha! There's another rogue attack in the south barrier," Beta Kai mind linked River, who had just came back from a gathering with the other pack leaders. He's been busy compensating all the other packs, that's what he's been trying to do all these years. But still not everyone appreciates it.
"How many are suspected there?" he replied.
"About 40. I've assemble the warriors to charge." River then shifted into his white wolf. As he was fast, he arrived in the scene just in time ripping the rogues heads one by one. Some of them as young as 15. But it was a way for them to stop all these attacks.
It was an easy victory for them. The only thing that Augustus got out of his conquest was that he made the pack stronger, it was River though who maintained and disciplined his pack members. But it was all too easy for them.
River was assessing the attack as the bodies of the dead were being round up.
"There's been too many attacks. But not as easy as this. These wolves they seem so unexperienced in battle," River voicing his observation. Anyone would've need extra preparation to attack him.
Kai on the other hand didn't seem troubled, "There've been lesser attacks since you've been visiting packs to compensate for what your father did."
"That man. Got his head sliced only to bring forth these enemies on me," he complained. If he were to be asked, he wouldn't want to inherit all these problems, but he didn't have a choice. No one was to fix them but him.
"We have better warriors, better fighters. One day it'll all be peaceful. Our fathers may have been assholes, but we're not them," Kai tried his best to console him. The old beta too had a hand in the killings then. He was killed in battle for Augustus, passing his title to his son who was only 18 at that time.
"They did got quick deaths," he added. Up to this day he feels nothing but remorse and anger against his father. His schemes were unnecessary and unethical.
People should've scorned him for killing his own father, but no, many praised and even supported him. The pack chose him as their new alpha after he had saved them. But too River he didn't just do it for them.
That day he witnessed his own mother who was pregnant getting stabbed in the back by her own husband. River's visioned darkened and he beat the man, breaking all his bones before finally chopping his head off. His mother was the opposite of his father, loving and kind. But she wasn't enough to tame such a horrible monster.
As the two were observing the battlefield, they came across a group of warriors who were gathered around something, or rather, someone.
"Alpha, come quick! I think this is something you need to see," one of the warriors called out for him.
River, then walked towards where the commotion was catching a whiff of something. It smelled of the flowers and sweet honey, mixed with the metallic smell of blood. He quickened his phase as the scent tickled his nose.
The young warriors gave way for him, and, there, laid a girl with fiery red hair, fair skin in a dirtied white dress. Her stomach impaled with a spear and her blood smearing the earth. Her feet bloodied. She was lying on her face.
River took out the spear and turned her around only to reveal a refreshing sight. Her eyes were closed but her perfect nose and plump red lips were noticeable.
Although in a morbid state, her beauty still was very visible. River too was mesmerized by the beauty she holds.
"She's dead," one of the men concluded.
"The spear is not ours. It seems like she was shot by them," one informed.
River took a closer look at the unconscious girl and noticed the white markings on her left arm. Her smell becoming even more clear on his nostrils. It was intoxicating him.
"What should we do Alpha?" The Beta asked,
"She's still breathing," he noticed the small breaths she was taking. It must've been very difficult for her.
"I'll take her to the infirmary," not waiting any longer, River took the bloodied girl into his arms. Her fair skin radiated against his tan one. The blood coming out of her were far too many and it instantly left a crimson stain on the fresh clothes he was wearing.
Her beauty even when she wasn't awake was captivating him.
"Come on, you can't die little rogue, you'll get through this" he whispered. He was curious and wanted to meet her. If she really is his fated mate then she can't die.
