Chapter 1 Prologue

"I'm sorry, Mr Bernard. I was just…" Alice paused suddenly to take a gasp. Her stomach sank.

"I was just wondering why you have to care much about my personal affairs," she raised up her head, slightly

"I mean, what's all these for?"

"Why are you sitting this close to me?"

"Why did you…" She still had more questions to ask. She sighed.

There was some few minutes of silence. They kept staring at each other. Mr Bernard drew even more closer and gave her a passionate kiss on those red, luscious lips of hers. She was astounded.

With a smile on his face, and the sweetest voice she has ever heard, he whispered into her ears, "I love you". He cupped her face and looked straight into her eyes, as though something was hidden there. She pouted. He smiled and slipped his hand down to her neck, stroking her hair gently.

"Don't you love me too?" He asked, expecting an answer that seemingly wouldn't come.

"I,... I,…" Alice was hesitant. She knew she loved him too, but was too shy to reply.

He held her against his chest with one hand, rested his head on her shoulder, and wrapped the other hand around her waist. She almost melted at his touch. She could feel impulses running up her spines. He smelt so nice in this close proximity. She wanted him to kiss her some more.

"Don't you? Just say it" He repeated his question.

She was breathing very fast. She didn't know what to say.

"I,…" she was about to say it, when he closed her mouth with another deeper sensual kiss.

"Umm…" she whimpered, indicating that she liked it.

"I know you do," he giggled and continued on and on, deeper and deeper, his wandering hands reaching for her thigh.

She pushed him away immediately. She just realized he was her boss and it was inappropriate what they were doing. Even if it was, not in his office.

"Stop! Stop it!" She yelled at him.

"What if someone walks in on us? What explanation can we offer?" She ranted, breathing heavily.

"Do you remember I'm your boss?" He asked, looking at her amorously.

"No one walks into my office without my consent. Besides, even if they do, I owe no one any explanation" he said, reassuringly.

Alice wasn't okay with this. She quickly freed herself from his grip and rushed out of the office, without looking back.

Mr Bernard Alexander, a light skinned and lanky fellow, with a brown waved hair, was the CEO of The Builders Company. He was in his early thirties, but his looks and behaviour seem to be like those of someone far into his forties. Not that he was precocious or anything of sort, but because he isn't much concerned about his physical appearance. Despite that, women yearned earnestly for him. Who wouldn't want to have a thing to do with a billionaire CEO?

He is always audacious and sometimes seems to trample against the rights and privileges of others due to his affluence. His bossy attitude and flamboyant lifestyle won't let him find love, after his ex-wife, Roseville left him in the lurch, when his father, Mr Johnson Alexander died.

His father had already earned a fortune and made a name for himself and his family, even to the next generation. Mr Bernard, having always seen good life and wealth, wouldn't have wished for anything better. But then there's this one thing that is lacking. Love.

The narrative changed when Alice came into the picture. She was initially his Secretary, but he later employed her to be his Mistress. Alice herself got cut in the chase. They didn't get along well with each other at first. But with time, they fell head over heels in love with each other!

They both delve into a world of romance; a thrilling love story uniquely theirs, laced with mutual trust and understanding. Unfolding what lies ahead with underlying optimism, they journey on to their fated ends.
