Chapter 1 My Life
CHAPTER ONE
The early morning sun shone on my face through my window. I sat up on the bed while rubbing my eyes and stretching myself.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning as I could hear the birds chirping on the nearby trees.
I sluggishly left the bed and walked in to my bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face before going to prepare breakfast for my self. Oh! forgive my manners; My name is Skylar and I'm 19 years old. I'm a beautiful girl with ocean blue eyes, long and pointy nose, sexy love lips, long blonde hair and slender body with an average height of 5'6. I love fashion, modelling and the celebrity lifestyle. I am a girl with big dreams as is it one of my dreams to be the most famous Nurses in the world and I'm working towards that.
I live alone in a two bedroom apartment in Manchester, London. I'm from Amsterdam, Netherlands. I moved to my dream country after studying Nursing in The Hague University of Applied Science, Amsterdam. It wasn't easy to leave my family but I was determined to pursue my dreams.
Speaking of my family, I'm the first child of my parents; I have two younger brothers and a sister. It's been a year since I left home and I miss my family most times. Although I call them often especially my Mom. Yeah! you can call me a mummy's girl.
I decided to make some scrambled egg with toast for breakfast. After eating, it was time to clean up the house and do my laundry. Saturdays and Sundays are the only free days I have in a week because of my work so I clean up on Saturdays and rest on Sundays.
Just as I was about rounding up the laundry, my phone rang. It was my best friend Ava calling and I picked it up. "Hello Skye..." She spoke immediately I picked the call. "Hey, what's up?" I replied. "I'm good, I hope you are getting ready for tonight?" She asked. "Tonight?... Oh, the party! I literally forgot about it." I said. " I knew you would forget about it, that's why I called to remind you... How you doing anyways?" She asked.
"I'm fine, just doing some clean up. What about you?" I replied her. "I'm good, you know what? I would be coming over later to get you dressed up for the party, I want you to look hot and sexy you know" She said and I chuckled, I could feel her wink at the other side as she said that. "No problem, buy some pizza when coming." I told her. " You'd never stop loving pizza, would you?" She asked. "Never!" I yelled and she laughed. "Okay see you later, bye!" she said. "Bye!" I replied and she hung up.
Ava and I have been friends since College. We met in our first year in Hague University and since then, she has been like a sister and the best of friends to me. We had similar dreams and goals and I that's why we both moved to London to pursue our dreams.
I checked the time and it was 2:45pm. I still had some time before the party so I decided to go to the grocery store to get some groceries. I finished the laundry and then made my way to the bedroom to take my shower.
After I was done taking my shower, I wore a blue jean and a pink crop top with a black leather jacket. I tied my hair in a loose bun and wore a pink sneakers.
I picked up my black handbag, my phone and my grocery list before leaving the house.
Since the grocery shop was just a few blocks away from my house, I decided to trek it up. I got to the grocery shop after 15 minutes of trekking.
I first went to the vegetable section to get some vegetables I would be using for the week. Then I got some cereals, diaries, bread, cheese, eggs, pasta and my favorite cookies.
By the time I was done shopping, my cart was almost filled up. I pushed it towards the cashier to pay. She scanned the products and I moved to give her my card to pay but someone gave her his card before I did to pay for me.
I turned to see a tall, handsome guy standing beside me. "Hi, I'm Jason". He spoke first. "I'm Skylar, thank you for paying for my groceries." I said gratefully, I wasn't expecting that anyways. "You're welcome and I must say, you're very beautiful Skylar." He complimented and I felt my cheek turn scarlet red. I guess hearing that from a cute guy made me blush hard.
"Thank you, you look cute too." I replied and he smiled showing off his white dentition.
"Thank you, can I help you with the bags?" He asked and I accepted.
We walked out of the grocery shop with him carrying my grocery bags and his too. "Where do you live so that I can drop you off?" He asked. "You don't have to worry about that, you've done enough already. I will just get a cab." I replied and he insisted.
"I insist, perhaps you can save the money for another day." He said and I agreed.
"Okay, I live a few blocks away from here." I replied and he nodded.
I followed him to his car. He dropped the grocery bags at the back seat and opened the front passenger seat for me. I sat down and waited for him to enter the car.
He entered through the drivers seat and we drove off while I directed him to my house. The drive to my house was a short one. We chatted a little before he dropped me off.
We stopped in front of my apartment and I thanked him. We exchanged contacts before he left after waiting for me to go in.
I carried the groceries to the kitchen to sort them out and pack them in the right places. After I was done sorting and packing, I ate some cereal as I was too tired to cook.
After eating, I went to my bedroom to take a nap before Ava comes. 2 hours into my sleep, I was woken up by my door bell. I sighed and rolled out of bed to check the door.
I peeped through the hole in my door to see Ava standing outside with some shoping bags in her hands.
I opened the door and smiled, she rushed in and hugged me while I pushed her away playfully.
"Don't tell me you've been sleeping all this while Skye." She asked as she saw my sleepy eyes and disheveled hair.
"Well, I decided to take a nap after cleaning up and going to get some groceries and guess what?" I asked.
"You know i'm not good at guessing Skye." She replied with eagerness in her eyes.
"Okay, I will tell you." I said and she dropped the bags and came to sit with me.
"I met a cute guy at the grocery shop today and he paid for my groceries and dropped me off here in the house." I continued.
"Wow!" she exclaimed.
"I'm happy for you Skye." She said.
"Thank you Ava, so where is my Pizza and what's in the bags?" I asked while I made my way to the bags. She stood up and followed me.
"Here is the pizza, I also got you a dress and a makeup kit for the party." She said as she handed it over to me.
"OMG! Ava, you didn't have to bother about the dress." I said as I brought out the beautiful dress.
"Well, I decided to do some shopping for the party and I saw this beautiful dress screaming your name so I got if for you." She said dramatically and I laughed.
"Thank you Ava, the dress is really beautiful." I said gratefully.
"You're always welcome my darling." She said.
"So let's go get you dressed up." She said as she ran to my room while I followed behind.
