Dragon Heart

12:30 am a time when the sky is completely dark and deviated the natural beautiful moonlights which is always flanked by its twinkling companions . The skies are clear and the silence fills the atmosphere but not in New York City.

Below the sky and down in the heart of the city there were new means for lights. The streets which were filled with cars because whose headlights illuminated the streets and stretch from miles on. The lights from the windows of the numerous skyscrapers that litter the city .

The colorful party lights that originates from the bustling nightclubs which were at the peak of their nightly business. For any New Yorker this was a normal sight , but to one who was foreign to the city it was an interesting and exciting experience.

But to Fàfnir it was noisy and absolutely irritating.

“The human world is as disgusting as they are.”

Fàfnir scrunched his nose up in disgust as he scanned the sight with a constant frown on his handsome face .

His deep red eyes which were hidden away by the glasses he wore were filled with anger and contempt .

Anger for he fact that someone had dared to steal the most precious thing from his kingdom and contempt that for all the places to hide it was the realm that irritated him the most . Earth!

But unlike him his three companions were clearly immersed with the bright unnatural lights and the city’s liveliness. This wasn't gone unnoticed by Fàrnir who focused his gaze on the blonde head man who stood beside him with his mouth open wide and eyes glazed with awe and excitement.

‘I should have left him at the Keep’ Fàrnir thought regrettably that he failed to refuse the blonde fool who had a penchant for adventure and desire to explore new places and realms. A habit that has put them in trouble one too many times on missions .

Feeling burning gaze , bright blue eyes met deadly red causing the blonde to shrink back in fright. “What did I do now?” The blonde pouted feeling wronged for no reason.

Fàrnir rolled his eyes at the blonde’s pitiful appearance. “You know what I'm talking about Karnix. Do not get distracted , we have a very important mission to complete. Do not forget that.”

Karnix bright eyes significantly dimmed at the reminder of the mission and the gravity of what was at stake not for them only but the fate of their world rested on them successfully completing this mission.

Fàrnir turned to the other two companions Ravâ and Dutch. Ravâ was a brown head albino with green eyes a very rare combo. Dutch was a blue-eyed redhead.

Among the four of them Dutch was the largest with a height of six feet and eight inches and full pack muscles, he easily towered over the rest .

Ravâ was the smallest according to their species terms. Weighing around 70 pounds with a height of six feet and three inches. An impressive height in the human world but not where they are from .

Karnix was directly before Ravâ in terms of height. six feet and four inches but possessed far more muscles than him .

Fàrnir was at a height of six feet and six inches with a muscular body bigger than Karnix but significantly less than Dutch. He was a ravenhead man with dark red eyes .

The four huge men who planned on traveling through the city inconspicuously so found that that the other plan would not walk as well as they hoped.

Because they were too Damm big. The four of them walked through the streets of New York City with several eyes on the as people couldn’t help but stare at the giant like men who stomped their way passed them.

“The eggs aura is basically in existent at thus point.” Ravâ said to the rest. They realized that they were basically going in circles. The item they were chasing was definitely not in the area that they were in.

“If that’s the case then how are we going to track the egg?” Karnix voiced his concerns.

“Is it possible for you to determine a specific location for the egg? Probably where the egg’s aura was at its strongest and how recent it was.” Fàrnir said to Ravâ.

“I can try but I’ll need to shift for a bit.” Ravâ eyes stared at all the people that were around them.” But I can’t do it here. “

“Too many people. “ Fàrnir agreed with him.

Fàrnir turned his eyes to glance at the different buildings around them. They needed somewhere quiet and out of sight.

As his thoughts were occupied he didn’t notice when he collided with someone. At the sudden bump he looked downwards to see a chocolate colored mass of hair.

Fàrnir’s nose caught the scent and he recognized it. Human. His dragon growled but not in a bad was. In a confused yet interested way.

‘That’s weird. Why would he be suddenly interested in a mere hu..’

Fàrnir’s thoughts were immediately caught short at the sight for deep caramel eyes. His eyes couldn’t help but trace the female’s face. From her pouty upper dark lip and lower pink lip to her nose, her cheeks and every part of her face he could lay his eyes on.

There was only one word to describe her as. Utterly ethereal. He began to feel a weird feeling he had never felt in all his years of being alive. It was a deep instinct to grab her and take her with him. Hide her face from the world and be the only one to see her. Her smile her cry only him and no one else. She look so small and sweet she was probably so innocent.

Fàrnir was have all kinds of thoughts about the human girl he had just bump into. His eyes were glazed with a weird kind of tenderness that his men had never seen before. But the human was have hers and she didn’t hesitate to voice her opinion and boy was he shocked.

“Hey giant could get out of the way?! Why in the world are you standing in the middle of the sidewalk in a daze .” She stared at him with a gaze that clearly showed her annoyance.

Fàrnir didn’t answer her because he was too shocked to give her answer. What happened to his sweet little thing. He didn’t even realize when he began to call her his in his mind.

The female was annoyed with his silence and just concluded that he was insane.

“The mental asylum people aren’t doing a good job.” She grumbled as she walked away from Fàrnir. “ They are really irresponsible with their patients. First test weird couple, now this guy?”

She was far away from them but due to their special abilities they were able to hear what she was saying.

As she walked away, Dutch and Karnix who were witnesses to the whole situation look at Fàrnir with confusion evident in their eyes.

Did their boss just fall for someone? And a human at that. One who also badly rejected him? Wow! To say that they were in shock would probably be an understatement.

While Fàrnir was was busy pondering over what the hell had just happened to him , Ravâ had found an empty public toilet cubicle and was able to track the eggs location.

He back confused as to why Fàrnir was looking red and flustered, while Karnix and Dutch were staring wide eyed at him looking more in shock and also confused.

“What did I miss.” Ravâ asked.

Karnix turned to Rava and opened his mouth but Fàrnir shut him up before he could say a word.

“Nothing just Karnix fooling around as always. “ Fàrnir dismissed the issue immediately.

“Oh okay “Ravâ made peace with it.

” I wasn’t able pinpoint the eggs exact location but I wax able to find areas where the eggs Aura was the strongest and within 48 hours. “

“Well then I guess we have a lot of ground to cover. So let’s get going. “ Fàrnir turned to leave but his way was blocked by three human girls who had their on on them.

The rest were also having issues leaving as they were also blocked by the group of scanty dressed women who peered at them with lecherous gazes .

“Hey handsome.” A certain blonde wrapped her hands round Fàrnir’s large biceps and purred at the feeling.

“You are so big and strong looking mind taking me home for the night?” She placed her palm on his chest and lightly dragged it downwards towards his belt buckle.

Fàrnir’s face was twisted with disgust at the audacity of the female. He couldn’t physically hurts her as it was wrong to use his strength on a weaker person no matter how much the person annoyed him.

Fàrnir grabbed the palm of the female and was about to fling it away when the female interlocked their fingers together and began to giggle.

“You are so bold.” She blushed bashfully. “Must guys aren’t as forward as you.”

She flung herself on his chest and wrapped her arms around him will giving him a mischievous grin along with a flirtatious wink.

“I like it.”

Like Fàrnir, Dutch was trying to ward of the females away from him and get closer with the rest but Karnix and Ravâ were having issues turning away the females. This went about an hour as they kept running away from different girls that apparently had height fetish.

It took more than four hours trying to avoid the girls ,but they managed to get to their destination.

It located around some abandoned looking apartments over the streets of Queens.

“Are you sure this is the right place?” Karnix asked while eyeing the deserted street and the clusters of abandoned building the .

“Affirmative the eggs aura was traced this exact location at apparently 17 minutes ago.” River replied.

“He’s correct.”

Dutch said before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath .”I can still scent the egg but it is not very potent. We have to act fast.”

Fàrnir then took out a blue jade from his pockets. The stone had markings on its surface and intricate designs that were not from earth.

Fàrnir closed his eyes and chanted a particular strings of foreign words while clutching the stone to his chest.

The blue stone glowed and then he dropped the stone onto the ground.

A blue mist erupted from the stone and whipped around it's until it dispersed and a big blue box was left in its place .

“I am sure that they would have sensed us already.” Fàrnir said as he and Dutch bent and opened the box which revealed the whole lot of weapons ranging from swords of different sizes to clubs, bows and arrows.

A string of tiny knives ,whips, bombs and other dangerous looking weapons.

Felix took up a sword with a built in blue gem on the hilt and markings on the blade. Markings which were very similar to the blue stone he took out from his pockets.

“Let’s retrieve the egg before they will make plans to run.”

“ Um too late they are off.” Dutch pointed at a bunch of people running into the street opposite them at full speed.

There were four of them exactly wearing in black clothes and had auras that were very very similar to the one that they after.

Their auras were definitely not human and the speed and agility that they used to run was evidence of their supernatural abilities and identities.

“Go after them.” Fàrnir sounded the order and the four of them chased after them with determination. This was the only chance they had to restore balance to their world and they were not going to lose this chance.

As they reached a forked road the escapees split between the two roads and ran in those directions.

Fàrnir and the other came to a halt as they were perplexed on which group to chase.

“Boss?” Karnix turned to Fàrnir.

“Karnix take the right and Dutch take the other side. Make sure to completely overtake them so that we won’t lose anyone of them.”

Karnix and Dutch sprung into action the second Fàrnir was done. Each of them ran in the direction given to them with immense speed.

“Ravâ.”

Fàrnir turned to the last member of his team.” I need your eyes up there.” Fàrnir pointed to the sky.

”We need to determine the nearest escape route between the two paths. Cause if anyone of them is with the egg then they would need and exit right now.”

Ravâ nodded and jumped onto the nearest building around him. His fingers extended in to claws and his legs bent in a crouching position. With this he crawled up the wall of the building avoiding the windows and electrical wires until he got to the roof and disappeared from Fàrnir’s sight.

Fàrnir turned back and ran in the direction of the abandoned building where they sensed the eggs aura. The box of weapons were exactly where they left it.

Fàrnir muttered a short verse and the box transformed back into the blue gem with he bent and took into his palms and placed into his pockets.

He looked at the building with interest. His gut was telling him to check the building, that something may be inside.

Fàrnir walked up the stairs and opened the creaky and old entrance doors. He entered the lobby room where broken pieces of glass littered the floor and made crunchy noise with every step he took.

I need some help with this.

Fàrnir thought to himself.

He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. With a second his body morphed into something different.

His ear grew pointer. Red scales appeared on his neck and his nails grew longer and curved into claws.

He was something different.

Something strange.

What was he?
