Kayla Branson is the daughter of the Alpha of the Goldenmoon Pack. She is beautiful and stubborn, but also brave and strong. Cameron Johnson is the Alpha of the Bluegrass Pack. He is sexy, ruthless, possessive, and has deadly a secret about his parents. What happens when their packs team up and they find out they are mates?
Kayla
Having another pack here was going to be weird. Another pack here for two months. It wasn't just a little tiny alliance like we usually have, I'm talking about two months. For some reason, that scared me. Another pack we don't know really. There could be fights, pervs, and killers. I don't know about anyone else, but that doesn't sound like something I want on my agenda.
Something about rogues around our territory is why we needed them. I desperately wanted to tell my parents, please just suck your shit up and let's take them on our own, but they knew what they were doing. They chose to combine with them for two months because they were close to our territory and were having the same problems.
Hey, why not have a pack as strong as yours come and fight? They always tried to tell me, but I still had my concerns.
"Dad, are you sure about this? I mean this pack could be dangerous or not get along with ours." I said, hopeful he would listen.
My dad was the Alpha of our pack, The Goldenmoon Pack. Although he was the Alpha, he was still my dad and he loved when I helped him with pack work and problems like this, even though some things had to be kept to a limit, because I'm not Luna, of course.
"Dad, are you sure about this? I mean this pack could be dangerous or not get along with ours." I said, hopeful he would listen.
"Baby girl, I already told you that having more people on our side is going to help us fight off the rogues without a problem. Plus, they might know more about the rogues and where they're camping." He said. "And," he continued, turning very serious, "if you do find your mate, I want you to tell me." I found it very odd that he randomly brought up me finding a mate.
You're supposed to find your mate when you're 16 or 17. I'm 19 and still haven't found him. There was a very good chance he could be in the pack that was coming. That's another reason I was scared. I never really wanted a mate. I'm good on my own. Mates are distractions from what you really need, which isn't them.
"But , if our pack and their pack don't get along well enough or they are indeed dangerous, they will be gone." He stated, throwing his arm around my shoulder, his voice loosening up. "Where's your mama?"
"Here I am baby." my mother said, running down the stairs, fixing her necklace.
"Deena, you know that the pack is going to be here soon so hurry up next time and get dressed so we can greet them properly." He laughed walking over to my mom and giving her a kiss. It got a little bit too heated for me and I had to say something.
"Jesus guys, get a room. I'll just greet them myself so you can handle your business." I put my hand on my stomach and hunched over, as if I were throwing up. They just laughed at my childish actions and pecked one more kiss.
I removed myself from that little about-to-start-getting-heated-again scene and jogged upstairs to my room. Even though I was a little bit disgusted at my parents romantic ways at the time, they were right, we should all greet them properly. As a family.
But I needed to shower, I didn't want them thinking I always smelled like garbage, since I just came back from a run. I quickly got undressed and warmed my water up. Once the temperature was right, I hopped in.
Somewhere during the time I was showering, I became lost in thought about what I would do if I found my mate. Would I like him? Would he be ugly? Would I accept him? Would I want to do dirty things with him?...
Without knowing that I was fully showered, my mom pounded on my bathroom door like a mad woman. "Kayla Marie Branson! Get your butt down here! They'll be here extremely soon and you need to be down here with us." She yelled.
"Okay, okay." I knew not to argue with my mom. She might be a little bit older than I am, and a tad shorter, but that woman was feisty and never gave up on a fight. That's where I got my attitude from.
I sighed as she left my room and came out of my bathroom. I walked towards my closet and scanned through. I grabbed a plain white crop top that came just above my belly button. I slipped on some high waisted shorts that came mid thigh and were comfy to wear. I examined myself closely in my mirror.
To me, my wavy, brown hair complemented my tan skin. I always loved my body, too. I didn't have extremely big boobs, but I had big enough boobs for a 19-year-old. My slightly curvy waist went good with my small stomach. To top that all off, I had beautiful eyes. They were sometimes light and sometimes dark. I loved myself, and I hoped that if my mate came today, he loved me, too. Even though I didn't want him to come.
I trotted down the stairs to greet my mom and my dad who were standing on our back porch. I went and gave a hug to my dad around his waist and he wrapped his spare arm around me, the other around my mom.
I guess I was just in time because emerging from the trees were a group of people, some still in wolf form a.k.a The Bluegrass Pack.
As I watched as they all came from the trees, I started to smell a scent that made my mouth water. The smell of cologne and fresh air mixed together suffocated me, but in a blissful way. Then, I started to realize, my mate was here. He was the scent. I knew it.
This freaked me out and I started to panic. I began to shake slightly and my dad looked down at me, and my mom soon after him.
"Are you okay?" He asked with a pinch of worry in his tone. I looked up at him and he looked confused. My mom raised an eyebrow and gave me a look like she knew something was up.
"Y-yeah. Just gonna go inside and wait." I said as I quickly slipped inside, not wanting a response from them.
Just as I had thought I had some time to calm down, their pack, along with my mom and dad, walked in the house. It was so loud from everyone's talking. I even heard some people ask who the beautiful girl sitting in the living room was. I knew they were referring to me. It was intimidating and awkward. But what mostly concerned me right now was my mate. He was in this jumble somewhere and I didn't know where. I could smell him faintly, but everyone's smells masked most of it.
I got freaked and just went to my room. This was so weird already. In a matter of 45 minutes, I talked to my dad about finding a mate and thought about it... while showering. Then, he showed up.
After sitting in about five minutes of peace, I heard muffled footsteps and voices walking down the hall. I heard my mom and dad's voice along with what I think was two other males. They walked into my dads office, which was the room right next to mine. Then, the door shut softly.
And that's when it hit me. The scent. The scent from earlier. If he was going to be here, I at least needed to see who he was.
I hesitantly walked to my door and gripped the handle. I was getting a little bit nervous. I knew my mate had to be one of the four people who walked past my room. It couldn't be my mom or dad, of course and no one is allowed in my dad's office unless it's family, Alpha, or Beta. Unless someone has a complaint, but they would have to knock. I prayed to the goddess that it was the Beta and not an Alpha.
I finally opened my door and right after, opened my dad's office door. As I opened it, a big blast of that scent smacked me in my face. It only took me a second to find him. Hunched over the desk, discussing with my dad and mom was him. From what I could see, he was wearing a black T-shirt that fitted over his big muscles and tall figure. He never turned around, which I wish he would've, but another face turned and greeted me with a warm smile, as my mom and dad looked up at me, smiling lightly.
"Hey! You must be the Alpha Trent's beautiful daughter! Oh and if you're confused, I'm Christian, the Beta of the Bluegrass. But just call me Chris." he winked at the end. "Cameron, say hi to Alpha Trent's daughter."
Great. I'm an Alpha's mate.
He finally turned to face me. He turned around like he didn't want to. Like something was going to happen. He just looked at me, nodded his head really quick, and turned back around. From the two seconds I saw him, his face was tanned and perfect. He had blue-green eyes and brown ruffled hair. His lips were thick and full and completely kissable.
For some reason, I felt hurt. Someone had to tell him to greet me. He had to of smelled me too. Alpha's have stronger senses than regular wolves. But, he turned around like something bad was going to happen if he looked at me. I was confused and upset.
Lost in thought, my mom snapped me out by clearing her throat loudly, while my dad was discussing business with Chris and Cameron.
"Hey missy, out of your thoughts yet? Anyways go start pouring pasta noodles in a big pot. Everyone's probably starving. I'll be down there in a little bit to do the rest." I nodded and she gave me the look again. The look of suspicion. I had a feeling she knew, but I wasn't going to say a thing.
