"Wait a minute, where the hell were you all night?" The alpha king roared at my mother. He appeared to be enraged as if he were prepared to choke her to death.

Despite the fact that my mother trembled and looked as if she wanted to flee, she was unable to do so because guards were stationed throughout the castle. I watched as my mother gulped nervously and took a step backward, but with every step she took to reach the corner, the alpha king stamped on her like a dinosaur until he grumbled and pushed her against the wall. "You really went out of your way to sleep with him? How could you possibly betray me?"

"I... I..." my mother mumbled between breaths. Despite her best efforts, she was unable to finish her sentence because the alpha king repeatedly stabbed her heart with his sharp knife until she collapsed to the ground and a pool of blood encircled her.

I witnessed my father murdering my mother when I was only ten years old; yes, I was there. However, I was unable to go any further. I couldn't even scream or cry because I couldn't move. I was genuinely terrified. I didn't know why he did it, but I was confident that his justifications would be insufficient even if she had cheated on him with another man.

He instructed his bodyguards to bury her as if she were a bug, which they did. He then looked at me from behind while I was hiding in the shadows. In the end, he didn't say anything to me, not even a pat on the back, or give me any explanation for his cruel action. He didn't say anything, just looked at me and walked out the door.

This was something that no one in the castle dared to bring up. Nobody dared to challenge him because he was the alpha king of all the werewolves, and he was in command of the entire kingdom. But I made a promise to myself that I would force every man to kneel and pay for what my father did to my mother, and I have kept that promise. I made a vow to myself that I would never fall in love or put my trust in a man again. I made a vow to myself that I would never love my father and that one day I would be capable and skilled enough to usurp the throne from him and rule as queen.

However, it appeared that the plans on which I had worked so diligently for over ten more years were about to be shattered because my father had decided that I needed a mate and that this mate was necessary to be an alpha.

While I'd been keeping my hatred and heartache hidden all these years, I made the decision to stand up to my father and tell him no this time. If I am unable to be the queen and rule alone on my well-deserved throne and in my kingdom, I will not allow anyone else to do so.

I only found out about the tragedy as I was getting ready for my fight training the following evening. I overheard some rumor-mongering among the servants, but my loyal servant decided to inform me of everything that was going on behind my back. She knocked on my door and walked in without even asking for permission to do so. She coughed, and I looked at her, wondering, "what's wrong?"

My ability to read her body language allowed me to determine that she was worried and terrified as she closed the door slowly and hesitantly while looking to the floor; Despite this, she was not only my devoted servant, but she was also almost my closest and most trusted friend. I was aware of all of her secrets, and she was aware of my one and only secret! How my father brutally murdered my mother.

"Can you tell me what's wrong?  Is there something wrong with your family?" I put my clothes on the bed and approached her; she fiddled with her fingers before looking at me, saying, "Your father intends to find you a mate." This is something I just found out about! People have been chatting all morning long."
