Vera Bethric didn't expect her marriage to end like this. All her affection for Nord Lemming was smashed into pieces by a divorce agreement. "We're done. Don't do anything meaningless." His voice was cold as ice. At last, she agreed. She signed her name and broke free from that cage. A beautiful, shining cage that was never made for her. However, she didn't expect him to become a troublemaker. He smiled wickedly. "You're not going anywhere!"

Chapter 1 Chapter 1

"Miss, miss. Excuse me, Ma'am?" I faintly heard someone's voice before I felt someone lightly tapping my shoulder. Scrunching my eyes closed before opening them, I looked up to see the elderly cab driver smiling amused at me as I straighten myself in my seat.

"Sorry." I grumbled rubbing my eyes before looking out the window.

"We've arrived." He said opening his door as I took notice of the scenery. We were on a high street, complete with a book store, a few clothes shops, a music store and a few others along with the café I was currently sat outside which my aunt owned. Well, people could argue it was more like a diner but my aunt preferred to call it her café.

It was only a small town but it had some amazing views of the city a few miles away and if you looked hard enough there were a few amazing places hidden in the woods that we were located in the middle of. For by passers, it was a small happy community. For residents, it was home, were they can run in wolf form without worrying about being caught.

Yup, my aunt's pack currently lived here in the small town of Yaleside. There were a few humans that lived among us to stop any other rivalry packs openly attacking but it rarely happened anyway, especially if you're in a pack that's known for their amazing fighting skills.

My old pack was smaller, hidden in a larger town run by humans. The only reason as to why I was now at my aunt's was because my parents recently died in a car crash. They were too severely injured to be treated and for their wolf to heal them.

That was three weeks ago.

A tap on my window had me jumping a mile in the air as I once again turned wide eyed to face the cab driver holding my bags up smiling at me. Sighing, I climbed out of the car.

"Thanks." I said handing him over the money.

"It was a pleasure Ma'am." I sighed at the word 'ma'am', I felt old when people called me Ma'am and yet I was barely seventeen.

He climbed back into his cab and drove off leaving me standing outside the Cafe nervously.

I loved my aunt, I had visited often when I was little but as I got older the visits went from every month to every year just because I started going out with friends more. Even then though, I made the most of every visit.

I was glad the Cafe was closed early on Sunday's, people knew I was coming, I just wasn't ready to meet them or to answer any questions. I wasn't ready to talk about it and I certainly didn't want too see the same look I received off everyone back home. I was sick at being looked upon like a broken girl. Scared I would break like glass with just one touch.

Taking a deep breath in, I started making my way into the Cafe. The door opened and the familiar ring went off putting a small smile on my face. When I was young I used to open and close that door just to annoy everyone.

The Cafe was just as I remembered it. The counter full with delicious cakes and cookies, the familiar red leather booths and sliver top tables.

"Oh, Judith!" My head went to the doorway behind the counter where my aunt stood in her pink apron, with a spatula in hand and flour on her face. Her light brown hair tied in a messy bun on top of her head and her brown eyes wide and happy as she looked at me.

"Aunt Maisie." A grin stretched onto my face as I remembered how much my aunt loved to bake and my god were her cakes and cookies to die for!

"Oh sweetie!" She grinned placing the spatula on the counter while opening the small door to come the other side of the counter to pull me into her arms. "What did I tell you about calling me Aunt?" She asked still hugging me.

"It makes you feel old." I answered rolling my eyes but laughing.

"Exactly, I'm still young you know." She winked pulling back. "Let's get you to your room." She smiled and rubbed my arms while picking up one of my bags.

That's the thing I love about my aunt. She doesn't push for answers or give you any sympathy, she knows I'll talk about it when I'm ready.

"Lizzy is asleep." My aunt said as we climbed the stairs. "It took me forever to get her to bed but she finally went when she eventually wore herself out. She's been excited all day for you to get here. When I told her your flight was later she nearly burst into to tears." She chuckled. Lizzy was my five year old cousin, she can always put you in a good mood whatever the situation.

"I managed to come to a compromise with her, if she goes to bed then she can skip the last day of school tomorrow to hang out with you." Maisie said opening the door to the room I always stayed in when I came to visit.

"Thank you Maisie."

"Well, make yourself at home. I'll let you rest considering you've had a long day, I'll see you in the morning." She kissed my forehead and smiled as she left my room.

Sighing, I flopped down onto the bed and sighed. I missed my old room. I missed my old pack. I missed my friends. I missed my parents.

At least here, I won't have constant reminders of them not being around anymore.

A new town. A new start.
