Fire !!!!
Smokes !!!!
It all rose high to the sky. My eyes turned dim, filled with tears. I watched my whole clan burn down to ashes.
The image of my father writhing in pain filled my head. I watched him roll down on the ground with blood pumping out of his sides.
"Papa !!!" I heard a little girl scream.
I jolted out of my thoughts. I looked around and saw a little girl dressed in shabby dress screaming in pain.
"Run!!!" Someone raised an alarm.
As quick as a lightning, I saw a torch light lit with fire flew down towards the girl.
My face contorted in horror as I imagined the fire engulfing her entire body. I jumped in quickly. I grabbed her arm and jumped out of the way.
I was hit on the arm as I rolled on the ground, clutching the girl tightly to my chest.
"Adeline, Run!!!!" I could hear Samara, my best friend and the beta's daughter scream at the top of her voice.
I could perceive some movements nearby. The little girl sniveled lowly.
"Shhhh!!!! You will be fine" I cooed, shutting her lips with my palms.
She nodded with big droopy eyes riverting in fear.
I managed to crawl slowly into the tall shrubs. I hid amongst the green tall shrubs.
A loud trumpet was blown and I could hear mighty footsteps retreating.
I heard some struggling a distance away from me.
"Hey, Let me go" A voice yelled.
I laid on the ground silently.
"Can I sleep?" The little girl asked, looking at me with her round cute eyes.
I hummed a reply and she slowly shut her eyelids.
I stared at her pretty face. She looked just like me when I was little. Her hair was tied in two messy bun style. Her brows kissed each other as she snored peacefully.
My eyes were slowly getting weary. My lids went shut.
"ADELINE!!!" A loud voice yelled. It appeared to be coming from a far distance.
I groaned. My vision was hazy and bleary. I tried to focus but my head was all rammed up.
"ADELINE!!!" My body was shook roughly.
I released a sharp gasp as I bolted out of sleep.
" Addie... I thought we lost you" Samara said enthusiastically, pulling me to a hug.
My breath were heavy and hitched. The room was filled with unfamiliar faces.
I was the Luna of my clan but I am not familiar with everyone. I knew only few people --- My parents, Samara's parents and Samara.
"Is everyone alright?" I asked, scrutinizing the place.
Samara nodded. I did a mental count. There were about thirty people in the room.
I felt a tug on my sleeve. I turned around and saw the little girl.
She gave a small weak smile, I mirrored her smile and patted her hair.
"What do we do now, Adeline?" An elderly woman questioned, moving out of the wall which she leaned on.
"Our clan has been destroyed. We lost so many people. We lost our food.... Everything is lost" One middle aged man said in agony.
"What do we do now, Adeline?".
The questions kept coming back and forth. My head swirled around in confusion. Everything appeared to be bizzare. They all looked like the soliders of the Celestial Clan.
Their questions continued. It rose high filling up my head.
" Will you all stop it?!" I screamed and rose up to my feet.
The whole room turned quiet. Their eyes focused on me. I could clearly hear their loud heart beat.
" I lost my father in this wreckage".
"We lost our clan leader.... Our Alpha... This is a general loss" I said with hurt in my tone.
" We have to put our heads together to find a solution... I can't do this alone" I intoned, taking time to peer at their faces.
" Adeline, This people has bitten more than they can chew"One man said, He was one of my father's guard. Philip -- I can clearly remember his name.
" Yes"Samara agreed. Her face creased with pain.
" What do you suggest we do now?" A woman asked loudly, holding her bleeding arm.
My eyes moved in her direction. I looked around and sighted a piece of clothes on the ground. I trudged for it. I tore off a piece and wrapped it around her bleeding arm.
She gave out a small yelp.
" We have to revenge for the loss of our fellow clans people"I aired with fiery burning through my veins.
They all rose up and stared at me. Their gazes were in agreement with my words.
" How?" Samara's voice broke out shakily.
" How?" I turned around and face her with my lips quivering, "How?" I repeated again.
" We will destroy their clan.... Kill their alpha and turn the clans men to our slaves" I said to her through my teeth.
Samara nodded and wiped off the tiny streak of tears which was making its way down her cheeks.
I looked out the window. The moon was out in the sky, glistening and illuminating the whole room.
I looked at the faces of all the people. Pains and hurt etched on their faces. Each and every one of us have lost someone dear to us Tonight.
And we will avenge their death.
••
The sun rays pierced in through the opened window. I could hear some shuffling. I slowly opened my eyes.
I was sitting on the ground. I slept off while sitting. The room was warm. Everyone moved around like nothing happened.
" Good morning, Adeline !!".
Greetings flew in here and there. I pushed myself up.
"Hey, You are awake?!" Samara jogged to me with a big smile on her face.
Two girls were with her. They had a basket in their hands.
" Good morning Luna" They chorused in unison.
"Luna?!" I mumbled, my face wrinkled in disdain.
As much as I was the Luna, I didn't like it when people refer to me by the title. I prefer being called by my name.
Samara noticed my discomfort, she grabbed my arm and pulled me down.
"Come on, Let's have breakfast" Samara said and took the basket from the girls.
She opened it up and brought out three wraps.
It was corn and meat.
"What?!" I exclaimed with wide eyes.
"Corn? Meat?" I asked with my eyes darting in shock.
One of the girls nodded, "Papa got it this morning".
I raised my gaze to her face. She had freckles, a short brown hair and large eyes. I swear I don't know her. I have never seen her face before.
" She is Corey.... Philip's daughter"Samara whispered.
My lips drew apart in a tiny smile. Philip has a daughter. I never knew.
" Oh, that's nice of your father"I said warmly and took out a corn cob. I dug my teeth into it. I munched on it quietly with my eyes closed. My teeth moved on the grains with ease. I released an escasty moan as the grains rushed down my throat.
" I can see you girls are eating"Someone commented and joined our group.
I flicked my eyes open.
" Good morning Philip" I greeted and he replied with a serene smile.
Philip was my father's favourite. My father always made him guard me. He had a friend --- Sergio. I looked around and couldn't find him. Maybe he was killed during the attack.
"Luna, How do we get our revenge?" Corey asked, breaking the short reverie.
Samara whined and rubbed her temples. She glared at Corey. And then looked at me.
I had my gaze on the corn. I didn't even know how to go about it. The only thing I know is to get my father's death avenged.
"I don't know" I uttered sincerely. My face turned gloomy.
The other girl pouted and tapped my shoulders, "You still have enough time. You can do something".
I nodded and took another bite. I wasn't able to get this bite down my throat as a guard wearing torn clothes ran in.
" Philip... Some soliders were seen heading this way" He informed hastily and in hitched breath.
Philip's eyes increased its size in fear and horror.
"We have evacuate this place" He uttered lowly and looked around.
Most of the people had injuries that would take forever to heal. Running again with them would be impossible and tedious.
"I will stop them" I said and rose up.
" No" Samara and Philip said at once, both holding my hands.
" I won't let you put life in risk Luna" Philip cautioned, tightening his grip around my wrist.
My stomach grumbled in annoyance. Not the Luna word again.
"Yes Adeline... You can't go out there" Samara intoned with fear gleaming in her eyes.
" I have to stop them... They can't come here" I said feeling courage building up.
"If we stay here... Then they would come and eliminate us all. And we can't run with these people" I said and ran my eyes through the people.
Their gazes were on us.
" Trust me Philip.... I will save us and I will be back" I assured him. I felt his grip loosen. He looked away from me and dug his hands into his hair.
" Take care of the people in my absence, Samara" I turned to Samara.
"No, I won't let you go" Samara refuted, wrapping her hands around my body.
"I lost my parents... I don't want to lose you too" She whined, I felt some drops of tears on my clothes. She was crying.
I patted her back. " Stop it now, Sam" I cooed.
Sometimes, she acted like a baby and I was always there as a mother.
"I will be back before you know it. I just have to make them stop".
"But how?" The second girl with Corey questioned, throwing her hands up.
My brows furrowed and I exhaled.
" You don't have to worry... I will cause a delay or something to give you enough time to evacuate the place" I said, taking my glance gently across the room.
Philip nodded.
I slowly pulled Samara's grip off my body.
" No, Adeline... Don't go" She cried as I turned around. I stepped out of the room.
A cozy and chilly sensation ran down my spine as I stepped out.
I ran down the bushy lane. The tall shrubs beat against my body creating red marks on my skin.
The cozy early morning breeze raced with me as I heard Dawn (my inner wolf) begging and pleading for freedom.
My bones cracked. My fingers grew longer. Fur sprouted from my skin. My vision turned blury and then became more acute. My sense of smell heightened.
Soon, I was running on my fours.
My speed was as fast as lightning. Dawn howled in excitement and freedom.
I have been keeping her locked in for so long.
I heard a ruthless growl that made me stop in my tracks. Two heavy wolves jumped out of the bushes.
The eyes gleamed viciously. They bared their teeth at me. Their glares were stern and scornful. I return their glare.
While we were still glaring at each other, I felt a pounce on my back. My whole body was pushed down to the ground. Dawn gruntled weakly. Sharp claws dug into my neck. I tried to fight back but I felt powerless.
Blood left my neck, My vision became foggy. Everything swirled about, Everywhere appeared to be a daze.
My eyes went shut finally.
Before they went shut, I heard Dawn whining weakly ," Mate....."
