"He threw away a diamond but got back something less valuable. I'm sure he'll regret every decision in the future, Illana."-Lucas Mathius Griggori. After his first love returns, Mark ends his marriage to Illana. She is almost shocked, but realizing how Mark once desperately pursued Deborah's presence makes Illana try to understand despite the heartache. As Illana tries to be strong and stand up, the charm of a mature man captures her attention, making Illana smirk because Lucas Mathius Griggori is Mark's uncle-her ex-husband, while many crazy ideas in the head make Illana want the mature man named Lucas even more.
BRAK!!!
Illana opened the door to Mark's office with her emotions following her. The woman was holding a folder and a large brown envelope. Without saying anything-she immediately threw the folder roughly on the table's surface, making Mark from his laptop.
"What's wrong?" asked Mark as he snatched the folder from Illana.
"See that you stop pretending in front of me."
Mark frowned when he found a piece of paper filing for divorce from his wife.
"Divorce?"
The large brown envelope was the second thing to be thrown roughly on the table. Mark only grunted after seeing some candid photos of him with Deborah, the man's former girlfriend.
It should have confirmed something that their marriage was not okay.
"You want a divorce?" asked Mark guilelessly, his expression and gesture quite relaxed. He moved towards Illana, intending to touch her, but she backed away.
"Sign the papers immediately, and I want to end it sooner. Traitors need to stay out of my life, Mark!"
"Illana-"
"You've even dated her again. Where's your conscience, huh? I'm your wife, but it seems easy for you to play with anyone, including me." Illana could hardly believe that Mark would cheat on her behind her back but recalled that Mark had a long relationship and had almost married Deborah before she suddenly disappeared.
Illana realized that she was probably running away or that Mark couldn't love her properly in the first place.
"Are you sure you want a divorce from me?" Mark's question made Illana look at him strangely.
"So, what am I supposed to do, huh? Keep my husband when you even love your ex? I'm still in my right mind, Mark. You have nothing to lose even if we split up, and you can continue your relationship with her like you already did."
"You're asking me?"
Illana chuckled, folding her arms across her chest as she gave her husband a dismissive look. "Even if I'm not stalking you, you have to remember that I have a lot of friends and quite extensive connections. They're all good, so it's easy to get photos like this. Are you surprised now?"
Mark swallowed. For a moment, he looked at the photos of his meeting with Deborah a week ago; he would not have expected to get such a confusing surprise today.
"Okay," Mark spoke up again. "If that's what you want, Illana."
"Asshole. Return that paper immediately after you sign; don't miss it." She walked out and slammed the door like before.
Emma, Mark's secretary, was again surprised when Illana exited her boss's office. Emma had stood up to greet Illana, but seeing Illana's unfriendly expression made Emma undo her intention.
"Was there a big commotion in the room, huh?" Emma watched until Illana disappeared after entering the elevator. "It looks like something's going on with them. Should I become a detective for this? Surely, the office staff will talk about it."

Illana cried as she drove, but she had already shed a lot of tears since she received the package containing the photo of Mark and Deborah. She didn't care about the sender of the package. Illana should be grateful that she found out about it in the first place.
She had even just returned from a business trip to Japan, then getting a painful surprise like this, draining Illana's energy and mind, diverting her from many other jobs.
"Am I not better than that woman that Mark can hardly stop thinking about her, huh? Why would Deborah come back when Mark is already married to someone else? She's too late. She should have come back two years ago."
Illana was forced to pull the car over and stop when she couldn't drive any further. The woman folded her hands on the steering wheel surface before burying her face there, and she cried harder and harder, enjoying her heartbreak.
"Tell me what's missing so that I can correct and make it right, Mark. Why the betrayal? I hate betrayers even though I love you as much as I can. Why treat me like a loser, huh?"
Returning to her luxurious penthouse feeling empty, Illana's expression fell flat as she entered the luxurious apartment unit that was her big gift to Mark after their wedding.
Funny enough, Illana made more effort for their relationship. She was trying to make Mark comfortable with her and go through with the marriage without hesitation because getting that man was not something easy.
"Am I not that beautiful?"
Illana stood in front of a mirror as tall as herself. She looked at the whole reflection there, observing as she asked-am I not enough this much?
"Tell me, Mark. Do you think I'm no better than that ex-lover of yours who disappeared for years? Who is he to show up and mess up this marriage, huh?"
Illana wanted to know who was the real culprit, who was the most guilty this time. It wasn't that Illana had gotten Mark with all her heart and risked her future, but after two years of marriage, a big storm named Deborah shook the relationship that Illana had been guarding all the time.
"I helped you reacquire the 'Royal Canon'. Don't you know how to thank me properly, Mark?"
Illana walked through the main room of the penthouse and stopped in front of a large picture frame on the wall, a picture of a couple with a perfect smile showing great happiness.
Illana was silent for a few moments, staring at her wedding picture. Everyone witnessed the lavish wedding, Illana's extended family and the people who had always ostracized her.
"I don't understand why such a bad fate has come to me." As she became increasingly saddened by the annoying situation she had to face, the thought of so many enemies laughing at Illana made the woman furious.
"I've always had Mark as my protector in front of those power-hungry bad guys, and after the divorce happened, there must be a lot of people attacking me again. Why has the situation become so dilemmatic?"
Illana's hands pulled the large picture frame apart, and it fell to the floor, her expression flat as the glass lining the front of the picture shattered. Illana's heart hurt too much for it to be easy for her to do this.
After the large picture, she collected the smaller ones and threw them in the trash.
"Mark must be happy I helped him clean up all this trash. It would be best if you thanked me, Mark Theodore. You don't need to hire a housekeeper to clean all this up, and I can do it with pleasure."
Now and then, Illana would stop only because she had to cry again. She didn't know when her tears would dry completely. Would Mark take her side if he saw Illana crying?
"Of course not. He even betrayed the woman who had helped and accompanied him during difficult times. Even if I cry blood, Mark will not stand by my side. His heart has been bound by a bitch named Deborah."
