Chapter 1 The Night of the Marriage
It was growing late. Lin Mei bit her red cherry lips with her teeth and twisted her fingers nervously in the opulently designed large room.
Nobody would have known that it was her wedding night if she hadn't mentioned it. There was no lavish ceremony, no rowdy guests, and no exquisite wedding gown.
She could still hear Lino Li 's icy comments from three days ago.
Three days prior.
Just as Lin Mei was leaving the school, a fancy black sedan pulled up in front of her. With a leisurely roll of the window, Lino Li 's godlike Liangdsome face came into view.
"Who are you?" Lin Mei gave him a wary glance.
"Get in the car." The attractive face of Lino Li was somber and dark. His words were as cold as ice. He gave Lin Mei a hateful glance.
"You madman." Lino Li 's menacing stare alarmed Lin Mei, who retreated two steps. In her subconscious, she wanted to flee.
"I am Lino Li !"
Lin Mei was able to put aside her desire to flee when she heard Lino Li 's name.
Lin Mei was taken aback to learn that Lino Li was her close friend's fiancé, even though everyone in City M recognized Lino Li 's name.
In college, Cheo Ying was a close friend of hers. Sadly, though, Cheo Ying took his own life three months ago!
Her death was primarily the result of Cheo Ying. They were advanced to the fourth year of university three months ago. Cheo Ying insisted on commemorating this event before the start of classes, even going to the pub where Lin Mei was employed.
Afterwards, she was too preoccupied with work to give Cheo Ying the attention she needed. She let Cheo Ying to drink in front of the bar after telling her to watch out for her safety. Cheo Ying vanished from sight as she came back after delivering the refreshments to the visitors in the private room.
Since Cheo Ying was nowhere to be found, Lin Mei called her repeatedly, but Cheo Ying did not pick up. Lin Mei felt something unsettling at that moment.
When Cheo Ying was located by the police after she had called them later, they informed her of some unpleasant news. Surveillance footage revealed to the authorities that two men had dragged Cheo Ying into a motel by force. Thirty minutes later, Cheo Ying raced in her messy clothing to the shore. Finally, Cheo Ying committed suicide by plunging into the water! Furthermore, it was still unclear if she was still alive.

With a menacing expression, Lino Li fixed his gaze on Lin Mei, who appeared to be in a daze. A torrent of hate for her swept through his emotions. Had it not been for her, Cheo Ying would still be alive today!
Lino Li felt as though a black cloud covered his whole body as he realized this. He gave off the chills just by gazing at him, like an Asura from hell.
"Get in the car!" With Lin Mei, Lino Li did not have much time to spare.
Lin Mei felt bad for Cheo Ying even though she didn't know why Cheo Ying's fiancé wanted to meet her, so she didn't give it much thought. She opened the car door and entered the backseat under Lino Li 's stern glare.
Lino Li stepped on the pedal before Lin Mei could sit correctly, and the automobile shot out like an arrow that had left the bowstring. Knowing that Lino Li had done it on purpose, Lin Mei was powerless to protest, forcing her to grit her teeth and bear it.
Lino Li glanced in the mirror and observed Lin Mei's look. His expression remained icy and devoid of any warmth. He pressed down even harder on the pedal when he noticed that Lin Mei had both Liangds firmly gripping the seat.
Finally, thirty minutes later, Lino Li brought the automobile to a halt. "Go and take out your household register," Lino Li 's icy voice said before Lin Mei could recover.
Lin Mei repressed the need to spit it out by holding her chest. The automobile was parked in front of her house when she peered out the window. Above all, how did Lino Li find out that this was where her residence was?
After a while, Lino Li noticed that Lin Mei had not exited the vehicle, and the contempt in his eyes grew more apparent. "I told you to get off the car so you could get your household register," he yelled. Do you lack hearing?
Lin Mei was taken aback and confused. She dared not spend one more moment in the vehicle. In a hurry, she yanked open the car door and drove away.
However, she recalled that she had been ordered to obtain the household record by Lino Li . She seemed a little perplexed. Pulling herself together, she asked Lino Li , whose countenance was dismal and black, "What do you want my household register for?"
"Register and get married!" With a frigid demeanor, Lino Li closed the window and spoke a few words.
"What?" "Marriage?," Lin Mei believed she misheard. Whom with?"
Exiting the vehicle, Lino Li strode toward Lin Mei, his long, straight legs moving forward. He walked with the dignity and confidence of a monarch. Nobody dared to give him a direct glance.
Lino Li 's physique radiated an oppressive aura and a significant deterrent force that Lin Mei could feel. She was terrified.
"Look at this." Lino Li reached into his pocket and produced a piece of paper. Lino Li abruptly released it from Lin Mei's grasp.
With the force of the wind, the fragment of paper fell like a leaf, and Lin Mei's palm froze in midair.
Lifting her gaze, she saw Lino Li . She could see Lino Li 's intense contempt in his deep eyes. There was something icy and melancholy about his figure.
Lin Mei gave a wince. She was aware that Cheo Ying was the reason Lino Li detested her so much. She was accountable for Cheo Ying's accident at the bar where she worked, even though she wasn't the one who killed her directly. Cheo Ying would not have had such an accident if she had exercised greater caution.
With a sour smile, Lin Mei knelt to retrieve the piece of paper that Lino Li had thrown to the ground.
Two large words were scribbled on the paper when she picked it up: Will!
When Lin Mei noticed the well-known words, she was certain Cheo Ying had penned it. The following was the content: Li . Maybe I was in another universe already when you saw the letter. I can't look at you in the same way. I apologize for not being able to keep my word to never be apart from you forever.
Lino Li was the intended recipient of the first part, and Lin Mei of the second.
