No Longer Mrs. Cooley: The Architect's Return

No Longer Mrs. Cooley: The Architect's Return

Xiao Xiaosu
I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

Hi. I'm Paris William Schuester. Yes I'm Mr. William Schuester daughter. The only one daughter he has and apparently the only girl in his life. Yes my parents are divorced since dad found out my mom was faking a pregnancy and dad was having an affair with Miss Pillsbury. Don't ask me how much I hate Miss Pillsbury.

I'm a junior in William McKinley High School. I'm also in glee club. Obviously because I'm as talented as my dad. I can play several music instrumental that most of the kids in Glee club can't.

I'm living with my dad since he got full custody of me. We're living in a house with three bedrooms and two and a half bathroom, kitchen, living room, family room, two floors, and basketball ring on the front yard. Not big, and I know that I'm not coming from a rich family but I'm glad with what I have now.

Not big, and I know that I'm not coming from a rich family but I'm glad with what I have now

By the way, I'm single

By the way, I'm single. I never been in love before. Not because I don't trust love but I haven't find the right guy who can understand me like the way my dad did.

"I don't understand why my dad wanted me to be a third wheeling of you two." I simply said and turn my face to the street.

"Because you are Glee club director daughter?" Finn frown.

Now I'm on the way to Kentucky to pick up Sam Evans and convince him that he will back to Ohio and join us for regionals because we are under the guns. Really under the guns.

"What if his parents doesn't let him back?" I ask them.

"At least we tried." Finn simply said.

"No, we have to get him okay." Rachel shakes her head.

Finn parks his car in front of a pub or something. I frown and walk out from the car. I look around and there are a lot of old ladies come and go into that place.

Three of us then walk into that place and look around. "Wait. This is Dairy Queen?" I frown.

"This can't be the right place. Sam works in a bar?" Finn frowns.

"Well, there just aren't a lot of theaters in Northern Kentucky, so theatre groups just have to perform in whatever space they can find." Rachel says to us.

"There's a lot of ladies here like, older ladies." Finn says to us.

"Finn, it's no secret that dinner theater appeals to elderly women." Rachel simply said.

"I think something is wrong here." I frown and look around until I put my eyes on the stage.

"Good afternoon, ladies! Are you ready to meet the men of Stallionz? Then please welcome to the stage, Cobra!"

"I didn't know Backdraft was a musical." Finn chuckles.

"No, that's stripper!" I frown.

"Someone get the door, 'cause here comes Mr. Package."

"Oh, God, no." Rachel shakes her head.

"And ladies, let's give a warm welcome to White Chocolate!"

I gasped as I see Sam walks to that stage. He strips off his clothes and start stripping. So this is what he does?

"That's not an image I can ever get out of my mind." Finn shakes his head.

"Give me a dollar." Rachel simply said.

"What?" Finn frown.

"Just give me a dollar." Rachel says to Finn.

Finn gives her a dollar and Rachel start walking closer to that stage. "Is it only me but he is kinda sort of hot huh?" I raise my eyebrows.

"I never imagine this before." Finn simply said.

The song is finally stop. Rachel gives us a sign to walk follow her. I put my hands into my jacket pocket and walk follow Rachel with Finn until she brings us to a dressing room.

"So this is what you do?" I ask Sam as he is getting dressed.

"I tried getting a real job. DQ was great and I got two free Blizzards a day, but it paid just overminimum wage." Sam says to us. "You know how much I made this afternoon? $61 in 15 minutes." Sam grins. "Am I ashamed I work here? Yeah, I'm ashamed. My dad got a job working construction to pay the rent, but when my brother needs a new pair of shoes or the TV busts, these abs pay for it." Sam says to us.

"Your parents don't know that you work here?" Finn asks.

"No, they just think the DQ pays really well. I'm good at this." Sam chuckles.

"You're good at it because you have that a boy-next-door innocence that makes you approachable, okay? You're good at it for all the reasons that you shouldn't be doing it." Rachel says to him.

"Come back to McKinley, Sam. We need you for Sectionals. Tell me you don't want it. Dude, you're young, you got so much potential. Working here is, like, throwing your life away." Finn says to him.

"Okay, I want it but my dad will never let me." Sam half smiled.

"Don't know till you ask." Finn smiles at him.

"Besides if your dad is Quinn Fabray's dad maybe he wouldn't let you. But if your dad is just like my dad, he will." I smile at him.

"Alright, we can come to my house and we can ask their permission." Sam nods.

"Good. I can't be around this place much longer." I simply said and walk out from the dressing room.

I walk out from that pub and finally feel the fresh air. "My house is only couple blocks away from here." Sam says to us.

"Just tell us where is it." Finn says to him and get into the car.

I get into the car and take my phone out from my sling bag. "So is that a pub, restaurant, or club?" I ask Sam.

"Three of them." Sam simply said. "Hold on, if I'm go back to Ohio, where am I going to live?" Sam asks us.

"You're going to live with me. That's why my dad sent me to third wheeling today because he thought that by sending me could help to convince your parents. Don't worry, there is another empty room in my house and you can use it." I said to him.

"Why you guys really need me?" Sam frowns.

"Santana, Brittany, and Mercedes left Nee Directions and joined a formed girl choir that Miss Corcoran built. Then Rachel got suspended and we really under the gun." I said to him. "And I just found out that Miss Corcoran ever made out with my dad." I frown.

"Okay that's gross." Rachel shakes her head.

"That's my house." Sam says to Finn.

Finn parks his car and we then walk out from his car. I look around and Sam walks lead us while opening the little gate.

We then walk into the house and his parents are in the kitchen. Sam walks lead us. We are smiling at them and shake their hands.

"Mom, dad, they're my friends from Ohio. They came here to see me." Sam says to them.

"Oh alright." Mrs. Evans smiles at us.

"Dad, Mom, what I'm trying to say is I want to go back to Ohio with them. They need me to compete at Sectionals this weekend." Sam says to them.

"And he could stay at mine. My dad is Glee club director and we are really under the gun. My dad is a teacher and you don't have to worry about food and all, so it wouldn't be like he was homeless. Not that there isn't a quiet dignity in that or anything." I half smiled at them.

"You think you guys could go in the other room, make yourselves busy, please?" Mr. Evans says to us.

"Oh right. I'm really good at making myself busy." Finn giggles.
