Love In The Shadow

As I gazed into the mirror, the reflection staring back at me was almost unrecognizable. My eyes, once bright and full of life, were now puffy and bruised, with dark circles underneath, like two black holes sucking in all the light around me. My cheekbones, once high and defined, were swollen and tender, a constant reminder of the pain and fear that had become my reality.
