Mr Writer s Lovers Block

I joined a hospitality course after dropping out of high school as i wanted to work on a cruise ship and travel the world. Shortly after, i was induced in a hotel for training. That's when i found out that this was not the job for me. I wanted to work on cruise ships as a few of my family members did. I thought that we get to travel the world and earn good money at the same time. But while working at the hotel i realised i did not like to do this job. Surely it won't be easy to do something i don't like.

So i quit the hotel which was maybe a big mistake. Life got very hard after that. I was struggling to find a new job and had to move back to my parent's house. But i was a resourceful and smart guy and could do almost everything once i saw how it was done. As we were from a lower middle-class family, i had to learn to do small repairs at home whenever something needed repair or installation.

My mom told me to apply for a job in a construction company in town while i looked for another job. Luckily they were hiring and i got the job. I have been working at the company for six months now.

"As you have all been working very hard for the past few months, our clients have been very satisfied with our services and have been giving tons of positive feedback. So i have planned a little something for all of you as a sign of gratitude for your honesty, punctuality hardwork and dedication." Announced Mr Johnson , who we worked for.

"I would be pleased to see you for dinner at my place tomorrow and i will be counting on each one of your presence."

Mr Johnson owned our construction company and was known and respected for being a gentle, generous and soft-hearted man. It was not the first time he was doing something for the pleasure of his employees.

We were all very excited to have dinner at his place. After all it was going to be a wonderful night as the Johnson family was known for their wealth and business. They owned several companies locally and were partners with even bigger companies on international level. The construction company was actually one of their smallest one.

"We must try not to eat anything tomorrow until dinner as i'm sure he has a lot of delicious food planned." My co-worker Bob jokingly said.

"We must also make sure to look our best as the Johnson's family is a well-reputated one." He added.

We could not wait to attend the event.

As soon as i got home, i started preparing my best outfit for the event.

That's when i realised i did not have something to wear at such a big family's event as i rarely went out, let alone such a big event at a rich family's house.

Even if i was living paycheck to paycheck, i knew i had to buy a new outfit so as to not embarrass myself in front of the Johnsons and my friends.

The next morning i went out to buy a nice suit. I was browsing the streets when i saw a luxurious shops selling the finest suits. I got in and a dark blue one immediately caught my eyes. It was screaming class. But i nearly screamed when i saw the price tag on it.

"$75,000 for a suit?" I murmured to myself.

"Hello Sir, welcome to Smith's. How can i help you?" Said a soft voice from behind me.

It was a beautiful assistant trying to help me.

"Yeah, do you have something cheaper than this?" I hesitatingly asked.

"Unfortunately sir, this is where our price range starts. Everything else is more expensive." She gently replied.
