Athena's POV 

I sat there waiting on a weathered stone waiting for my husband the king, he had promised to be with me, after I haven't seen him for a long while. My heart felt heavy and light, I loved him so much, and he cared so much about me but the kingdom which he cherished a lot was being threatened and everywhere seemed to be full of unrest. 

The whole courtyard saw guards, maids and even council members running helter skelter after the news of King Avalon's forces being in town reached them. It was a dreadful news that no one wanted to hear. King Avalon never cared for peace he had always settled for war and bloodshed, why is he here? Have we made a mistake to trust him? I thought to myself. And why is Eamon not here yet. 

My heart drifted to how I first met Eamon after I was chosen to be his mate. It was a very beautiful night in the Lands of Aldoria, every maiden wanted to be chosen as the King's mate, but I stood there looking into his eyes my mind searching for any truthfulness and trust in his eyes. He was so handsome and every step he took signified elegance, power and wealth, I instantly wanted to be a part of his life. His eyes had something that seemed to pull me towards him beyond his physical appearance and power, I wanted to care for him and be with him, to love him became my goal that instant. As he looked through all the maiden standing there. 

Fear griped my sould as the thought of him picking someone else made me feel over my head. Was it really possible for him to be interested in me? It wasn't as if I was the most beautiful girl in the kingdom, nor did my family hold any status. My strength was also doubtable, I was just an Omega wolf one that had nothing to offer the Alpha king, but something in me wanted him to choose me over the others. 

My mind raced and my heart kept beating in my chest, my throat became dry and it felt as if a lump was in my throat. I waited patiently for the announcement, was my dear going to come true? Was he going to pick someone else? Will he still pick me? Even if he picks me will he ever love me? Will he ever care for me? Or he will treat me like the weak girl I was? One that had no glimpse of authority and wealth in her existence. 

My heartbeat continued rising when Damon goes up to the front of the whole pack and looked through the whole maiden standing infront of him. He was so good with words "You all have desirable traits and unimaginable beauty, portraying the richness and elegance of our land. You all carry special strength and traits within you one I would love to pass on to my children." He said as he chuckled "But I can only pick one of you to be my mate. The whole whom I feel drawn to the most, the one which my heart feels alive with the most, you're all strangers but there's one that has captured me, beautiful, elegant and amazing." He said.
