There are very old legends that talk about fairies or spirits that are protectors of wolves.
The Peeira or wolf fairy as it is known in Portuguese folklore is a wolf guard. It would be the female and human version of werewolves. Its origin is perhaps even older.
They had fantastic abilities like calming wolves in addition to the gift of healing. They said they lived in forests or woods and there are those who confuse them with nymphs. It is believed that a Peeira is just a young woman who lives with packs, guiding angry creatures and disturbed spirits such as werewolves. She would be a source of peace, bringing balance to a werewolf's violent nature.
Pacto de Sangue is the first part of a trilogy that tells the story of one of them. A young woman who was brought into the pack as a child with a destiny to fulfill. In her hands resided the power to bring balance to magic again....
According to some currents, Hecate would be a Peeira. Descended from the Titans, she was one of the most ignored myths in Greek mythology. Hecate's power extended from hell to land and sea. She roamed the land on new moon nights and at sea she had her loves. Sailors considered her a titular goddess and always begged her for good crossings.
It is even believed that she appeared on New Moon nights with her hideous pack in front of travelers on the roads. She was still considered a goddess of magic and night. With her spell powers, she could send night terrors and wraiths to torment mortals. She also frequented places of terrible crimes and murders, thus becoming the mistress of black magic.
A peeira would be the mistress of the gates between the world of the living and the underground world of shadows. She was the conductor of souls. Her oldest legends still report that she passed through Earth at sunset to collect the dead of that day. She was a sorceress and could not be seen by humans. She was a protective goddess of female independence and an advocate against women's violence and oppression.
It was said that the Moiras weaved, measured and cut the threads of a mortal's life and only Hecate would have the power to interfere in the threads of destiny. The mighty goddess had control over the secret forces of nature, being a goddess of sorcerers. The lady of the visible and the invisible.
It observes past, present and future and waits until the right moment when the decision of the direction to be taken is decided. She doesn't choose the path, we choose it. Her grace is wisdom and deep insight above illusions. It teaches men to be fair and tolerant of those who are less fortunate. Her name means the distant., But she is always present in times of need. She always helps to find a new path through new beginnings, despite the confusion of ideas and uncertainties as we face life's inevitable changes.
