(An historical romance)

Chapter 1 Trespasser.

Prince Xuhai was dressed in his royal robe of red and black but unlike every other royal, his robe was left untied and a good amount of his chest was left out for eyes to see and drool over except for the fact that there was no one outside to look and drool over him.

His long black hair flowed down his shoulders and stopped at his back. His eyes were sharp and had a tinge of darkness in them.

He took steps after steps towards his father's palace and the more he took steps, the more the place got deserted.

"It's the demon prince"

"Do not look into his eyes. I heard looking into his eyes can kill you"

"It is really him. Why did he come out today?"

"His presence is so scary"

He could hear the various comments from the people as they scampered away, everyone leaving his path empty and free for him to walk.

Being avoided like this was the most normal thing in the life of Prince Xuhai. And he did not seem to care about it anymore.

After all he was no longer that little kid that craved love and attention, he was now just a prince who had his eyes on the throne and sought to get it through every means.

He finally walked into his father's palace and as soon as he did, his eyes caught sight of a maid tripping and falling down in panic.

"It's... It's the demon prince" she stuttered.

"Prince Xuhai is here!" The eunuch announced, his voice slightly shaky as he announced the presence of the prince to the King.

"Let him in" the deep masculine voice of the king rang through the air.

The doors opened and he stepped into the Chambers of his father, the king, the man who he knew hated him and the man who he also hated.

But to become the King, he knew he needed the support of his father.

"Greetings to the King" he bowed slightly in respect.

His deep voice sounded almost like that of his father except that it was even more masculine than that of his father.

"I was told you asked of me to come over here"

"I asked you to come here three hours ago. Your elder brothers have come and have left already and you are just arriving!"

"I am here now" was his only response to his father.

The King sighed, shook his head and looked up at his son.

"I wished I never had you. I wish you were never given...."

"Never given birth to... I know" he cut him off.

"You dare cut me off?" The King asked.

"What am I here for?" He went straight to the point.

"After so many years after I lost your mother because of you... I am finally getting married again, to a young beautiful Lady"

"Congratulations" he greeted with absolutely no emotions on his face.

"I did not expect to see you happy or smile anyways, you have always been like this" he shook his head.

"I am not smiling because I have no reason to do so."

"I am getting married in two days... Be there"

"Yes father"

He gave another small bow and turned to exit the presence of the King.

"And when coming, dress like a proper prince!"

"Yes Father" he responded without looking back at him.

The king watched his last son walk out of his Chambers with powerful strides.

"I should really never have had him" he mumbled.

Prince Xuhai walked away from the King's palace heading to his own palace, the palace of the Demon Prince as he was called by everyone.

In the entire royal family, he had the least number of servants. He had just four servants.

"Oh, isn't that my youngest brother?" He heard a voice that he would recognize everywhere and anywhere.

The voice of his elder brother, given birth to by the same mother who had birthed him.

Prince Na Mi.

Xuhai stopped in his tracks and waited for his elder brother to catch up.

"Let me guess, you are just going to see father"

Xuhai's gaze landed on his elder brother and the mocking look on the face of Na Mi vanished.

If there was something that everyone except the king feared, it was being stared at by the demon prince.

His gaze was always sharp and intense, it was killing and even his elder brothers felt their legs melting each time he stared at them.

"I would have no talk with you until I get what I am searching for, Na Mi" he aired out to his elder brother and walked past him.

Everyone knew what he was searching for, it was to become the king.

The isolated and avoided prince who sought to become the king would have been a funny issue if that isolated prince was not him.

"You would never become king!" He heard Na Mi tell back but he ignored him.

It was not the first time he was hearing those words, he had heard it countless times from different people and he was all out to prove them wrong by taking up that position.

Xuhai lifted his hands up and stared at it while walking, the thoughts of the first man he killed flashing through his mind.

"You are cursed. Your mother died because of you, your twin brother died because of you. With you, the kingdom is cursed enough. Being the king? you would never become one, demon prince, because you are cursed. I would never see you become king with my eyes."

Were the words that man had said to him and yes, Xuhai had made his last words come true by killing him.

The man would never see him become king because he was dead.

Xuhai was only 11 when he had killed that man by burying a dagger inside of his heart.

From that day, he had been more feared and more avoided but he no longer cared.

The only thing he cared about was the throne.

Xuhai walked back to his domain, the cool evening breeze lifting his hair up a few times and caressing his heavenly face.

He suddenly stopped in his tracks when he heard the rustling of leaves coming from his garden.

No one was allowed into his garden without his permission.

It was the garden he had been tending to since he was little and no one was allowed into it.

With his thick brows arching, he turned around towards the garden, his hair doing a flip.

He took steady but quick steps towards the garden.

"Who are you?" His deep voice rang out with annoyance and anger over the trespassing but when the lady in the garden lifted her face up with a smile lighting up her face, he could swear he felt something, something that made the anger inside of him vanish.
