Chapter 1 The beginning

Standing in front of the palace was the biggest thing I've ever wished for. But when I eventually got an invite to the palace, I dreaded what would happens next. Well something did lead to dreading the moment and you'll know all about it soon.

It was the time when the son of the former king, Harbin took over the throne. He was obsessed with magic, power and immortality. He scavenged for every human born with magical powers and every child with the blue blood.

I was just born then after years of my parents childlessness. My mother and father had their first child immediately after their honeymoon and since then they haven't been able to conceive another baby. Twelve years later, they heard the cry of another baby. A girl! That's me actually! Well enough about the history of my parents.

.....

King Harbin sat on the throne with his head down. He was actually waiting for the messengers he had sent out to the clans. The door opened and he raised his head sharply but sadly smiled when he saw who had arrived.

" Good evening father. " His son, Archer said with a slight bow.

" To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit from my beloved heir. " King Harbin asked with a mocking smile.

" I wanted to inform you about the festival. It's in two days, not that you actually care. " Archer said with a weird smile.

" You're right, I don't care. " Harbin said and he laughed.

" I sent invitations to all the maidens in the kingdom, both poor and rich. " Archer said and his father sneered. He looked at home thoughtfully for a minute before he waved his right hand as a signal of his dismissal.

Archer stepped out of the throne room and met his family at the hallway.

" What did he say? " His younger sister, Ginevra asked.

" He doesn't care. He never cares. All he cares about is immortality and power. " Archer sighed. " Let's go meet mother. " He gestured towards his mother's quarters. The queen has been I'll for the past year but her husband, the king never cared if she died. All he wanted was power and immortality. The queen had magical powers but she hid them for the sake of the king finding about it and killing her for it.

King Harbin was a different person entirely when he took over the throne in the first year but when he appointed his new physician, everything changed. It was like people said, " he was living in the shadows of the physician. "

Archer walked to his mother's quarters with his two younger siblings. They saw her struggling for her breath as usual. Archer hates the sight of his mother right now and he wished he could end her suffering but he couldn't and that was why he hates himself. He has no powers and the only person he knew could her, her powers had not yet manifested. Even if she had her powers, he could send for her because she was in hiding away from the king. He just had to watch his mother suffer and this made him hate his father more.

" My son. " Queen Guinevere called, her voice croaking. She was named after the legendary wife of King Arthur of Camelot. He walked closer to her and held her hands. They were rough and scaled.

" You must find her and protect her. She is your strength, your weakness. You must not let her fall into the hands of your father and the terror he has brought on this world. You must love her and cherish her. She alone can heal this land. She alone can heal you. She is your soulmate, you must marry no one else. You must be with no one else until you find her. Promise that you will find her and be with her. " Queen Guinevere said with teary eyes. Although Archer couldn't understand what his mother what his mother meany, he promised her nonetheless. She was speaking in patched and he couldn't gather them to make a full sentence. He swore to find the mystery girl and bed her before the next eclipse.

" Protect my little ones when I'm gone....."

" Mother you're not going to die. You have to stay alive for us. " Archer said with tears threatening to fall from his eyes.

" Not yet anyway but soon. I'll stay alive until you find her. " She said with a weak smile.

....

In the outskirts of the kingdom, under the trenches, in the caves, in the mountains lived those with magical powers. They protected themselves with a shield so that no one would find them. Aristomache was one of the them and her duty was to protect her little sister to her last breath. Arlet, her friend who is believed to speak to eagles helped her accomplish this task.

" Corra! Don't go out there. " Aristomache yelled after her young sister. She was just seventeen and she was fast and fierce like an adult.

" But I want to go out. I want to swim. " Corra pouted.

" You can't Corra. It's not safe out there by yourself. " Aristomache said and she groaned.

" We've been hiding for the past ten years. Why can't we go out like the others? Why we can't we visit our parents grave? " Corra asked still running.

" Corra come back. It's not safe out there. " Aristomache said running after her. She was fast but not faster than Corra. She got tired and had to turn back. " She'll find her way back, she always do. " A familiar voice sad in the wind and she smiled.

" Watch over her mother. " She said and ran back to the camp.

Corra kept on running till she got to the woods where the royal family normally passes on their way to town. She hid behind a tree waiting for someone. She normally does that every three days.

" Looking for someone? " A familiar voice said behind her and she turned with a wide smile plastered on her face.

" Your highness. " She curtsied and he laughed. " What is funny?"

" You don't have to do that. We're friends. " Archer said and she shook her head.

" Yes I have to. You're the prince. " She said flatly. " Are you alone?"

" I am always alone when I come to see you. " He said and she blushed.

" Why, I'm honored. " She said.

" Let's take a walk. " He said and held her right hand. They walked further into the woods, where they normally spent their time together alone and far away from the cares of the world. It is a hidden valley deep in the woods which no one knew about or maybe they didn't care enough to notice.

" How is the queen?" She asked when they sat on the grass.

" Worse. " He said almost inaudibly.

" I could help her. "

" How would you do that? Your powers are not yet manifested. Even if they were, I wouldn't risk your life to save hers. " He said.

" But she'll die if you don't do something. "

" Corra she won't die. I can feel it. " He sighed.

" Archer, how can you feel it?" She asked as she placed her head on his shoulders. He explained everything his mother had told him. She looked at him when he was done and held his face in her palms.

" What is gonna happen to me? " She pouted.

" Corra, you're my best friend. You'll always be an important woman in my life and I'll always protect you. Nothing's gonna change that. " He said and held her chin.

" I love you. " She said softly and hugged him.

" I love you. " He smiled. They spent more time at the valley playing till it was time for him to go back to his princely duties and her to fish and dance with the children.

" Will I see you again in the next three days?" She asked.

" I was talking about meeting your family, don't avoid it. They should know about me and that they can trust me. " He said and she chuckled.

" You'll meet my family soon enough. " She said.

" I want you to meet mine tomorrow at the festival. " He said and she gasped.

" I can't move in public remember? I have archery tomorrow. "

" I'll protect you. Please just do this for me. I want my siblings to meet the girl that has been my only friend since Kushim died. " He said and she sighed.

" Okay, I'll meet you tomorrow here but not at the festival. " She said and he hugged her tightly.

" Thank you so much. " He said with a wide smile.

" I have to go now. " She said and hugged him one last time before going.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ “I want to get a divorce, Mark,” I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time—even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
