Chapter 1 The Target

My eyes were fixed on the coffee mug for some seconds, admiring its beautiful color combination. From the glass handle to the content inside of it. My eyes lit up instantly as Vicky pour the content into two cups. Eager to taste and consume the content, I reached for it, and grabbed it with my both hands, ignoring the hot steam coming from it I lift it to my lips, and with my eyes closed, I inhaled it with a smile.

"You will want to take it easy Liz," Vicky deadpanned.

"Not funny," I complained with a sigh.

I rolled my eyes at her as she walks to my bedside. She sat and reached out for my cheeks, those big brown eyes of hers boring into my pale blue eyes. She pouted before pulling me in for a hug.

"Get dressed, I'm taking you somewhere tonight. A place that will take your mind off some shits," she breath into my ears as her right hand carefully stroked my scattered hair.

"I love you so much idiot," I hugged her tightly with a giggle, I can feel her chuckling as well as she tightens her grip on me.

Vicky is what I call her even though the whole city knows her as Victoria Jackson, the sassy and sexy journalist who can do anything to uncover every mystery. She is consulted for top cases and has never failed in her investigations. Well, that's my best friend for you, she doesn't joke about her work. Apart from work, there's one thing she doesn't joke with as well, that's me of course. Don't ask me how I know that, this little idiot is so protective of me. If I was into girls, I probably would have fallen for her since college. She isn't into girls either, we are straight as fuck.

Vicky tossed a dress to me, a black-colored outfit, black pants, and a black top. I gave her a 'what is this look?' but she said nothing. She directed my gaze to the bathroom and I understood her assignment, I quickly get up from the bed, and throw her pillow at her before locking my bathroom door.

"What the fuck!" She cussed. I let out a loud laugh, imagining her face when saying that. Let's just say, we're good at annoying each other.

Wherever she's taking me, I'm in for it. I just finished dressing up like an assassin. That's how you look when your best friend is an undercover investigator.

"I'm not interested in your dirty jobs," I complained as we both sat in Vicky's car. She's driving and I'm in the passenger's seat. She paused to give me a look. Those brown eyes stared at me once again, this time they were not holding any assurance but a devilish grin.

"It's a promise, you will like tonight's operation. I don't even like your job either," she responded with a scoff.

"I don't force you to work with me," I glared at her as she takes another turn.

She pulled the car to a stop at one fancy clubhouse.

"Are we here for a drink?" I questioned with excitement, coming down from the car, I slammed the door gently.

"You wished," Victoria pouted at me before making her way inside the clubhouse without waiting for me, I trail behind her.

"Don't forget I'm the boss here," she winked at me and I sigh.

"You wished," I reminded her.

The sun has started its journey back to its hiding place, the weather is quite friendly so I didn't feel out of place when I stepped into the clubhouse, everything is simply in position, typically setting of men and women drinking and smoking, smooching and making out in different corners of the house.

Vicky handed over a mask, and I took it and wore it with a smile. She knows me better, I don't go to any party, especially clubhouses, anything not business related without my mask. I guess you must be asking how, let's take a pause, take a deep breath and meet this gorgeous lady who's dressed in a black outfit with blonde hair and a gold mask on her face, she is classic and simply the most beautiful woman you will meet in this city.

I would have done this from the beginning but I just want to let you know that I don't like to show off. So, I'm Elizabeth Moore, the CEO of Moore's business consulting firm, a company that has a reputation for solving problems and establishing other companies and firms. I have been a manager of Moore's empire since 25 years of age. I'm thirty-two and single, powerful, and don't care about what the world has to say. The only thing I care about is my business empire, the one that has put me on the ladder of the firm. I am single because I choose to be.

"Liz," Victoria's call jerked me out of my reflections, connecting me with my current environment. I raised a brow at her, urging her to go on.

"Please, will you do this for me?" She entreated with a raised voice due to the loud music playing in the background.

"Do what?" I inquired curiously. I snapped at the barman and he poured a glass of alcoholic drink for me.

"Come," Vicky dragged me along with her to another room that was less noisy than the other. She let go of my arm and I breathe in relief, taking a sip from my glass.

"What?" I nudged her shoulder. Looking at how tense she is, I'm suddenly afraid that something is not right. Vicky is the last person to be so nervous and unrelaxed, even though she is, she hardly shows it.

"I will help you Victoria, will you stop panicking?

I'm getting nervous, is everything alright?" I asked with my eyes fixed on her and my hand on her shoulder.

"You can do this Liz, please. I know you're a badass, more than I am. You're powerful and influential, you can get out of it with just a snap of a finger. This case means so much to me and it's an automatic promotion if I'm able to get to the root of it. This is my dream Liz, what I've been dreaming of for years," She pleaded after narrating her plans and what she wanted me to do.

I sigh and turn my back to her, with my arms folded around my chest, I paced the room in confusion.

"I know you won't refuse me," She added, placing her arms around my neck.

I hate it at this moment, looking at Victoria's eyes. She holds that charm, the irresistible charm that makes me want to agree even though the plan is a dangerous one. She smiled and pulled away from me.

"This is just because...."

"I love you so much Liz," Vicky jumped on me immediately without letting me finish my sentence, I sigh as she embraces me.

"Common, let's go and enjoy the party while we wait for the target," she screamed excitedly, tugging her pistol with a smirk before leaving the room with me trailing behind her.

"Cheers," the glass clicked together with a wink on my friend's face and mine as well. We took two shots in a row and let out a laugh.

A hand held my cup as I was about to pour the tasteless liquid down my throat, I paused and look at Victoria, she gave me a no signal and I dropped the cup.

"What now?" I whined at her.

"Don't drink too much, the target is here," she directed my gaze to the entrance of the clubhouse.

There walks in an elegant, tall, and classic lady, she walks flawlessly into the clubhouse with a smile on her lips.

"She stays in the VIP section, let's go get ready," Victoria instructed and I obeyed.

I can't believe I agreed to do this, but anything for my best friend, right?

Her name is Christine Williams, a young lady who's currently studying art in college. She is connected to the case Vicky is trying to uncover, a murder case it is. She was seen at the scene of the crime, along with her boyfriend who's also the prime suspect. She is young and beautiful, with a very contagious smile, the one that can capture anyone's heart. According to Vicky, she comes here always, to ease her stress and relax. That's all I know about this young lady sitting some distance away from me- she also has one weakness, the one I'm going to use against her tonight, to get the required information.

I walked up to her seat and wink at her, sitting down on the couch opposite her. The look on her face is that of confusion, I'm sure she's wondering if she knows me before. She might have come across my pictures in magazines, newspapers, and the internet, or probably seen me on the TV but I'm grateful for the mask and the dim light, my identity is conceded. I took a glance at the table some distance away from ours, Victoria winked at me and I smiled hideously.

"Hello pretty," with my right hand stretched out for a shake.

"To what do I owe my Angel's visit?" She responded with a shake of my hand and I smiled at my charm working perfectly on her.

Her hazel eyes were fixed on mine as the waiter dropped a bottle and glasses of drink on her table before walking away, she bit her lower lips and suck on it seductively. Gosh, she's no different from what was described. I took my upper lips and bite seductively too, letting out a little moan. My index finger reached out for her lips, I caress on them and she closed her eyes, moaning lowly to my touch.

"Come sit close to me," she ordered her voice a little hoax than before. I'm turning her on, that's my mission.

I handed her a glass of drink mixed with the substance given to me by Vicky before moving over to seat with her. Lowering down on her lap, she drink from the glass and I smiled.

Her hand finds its way to my thighs, thank goodness I'm not wearing something short. I shivered at her touch and I reached out to stop her immediately, I don't like the feeling.

"Let me please you," I whisper in her ears, biting her earlobes.

Her loud moaning was an encouragement that I'm doing a wonderful job, I trail wet kisses on her neck down her to her cheeks, and she held tightly to me to contain the euphoria.

"Damm, y.o.u.r.e..." she stammered and I sigh.

"She's intoxicated" I sent the text message to Vicky and she sent me a smiling emoji.

Some minutes later Vicky gave me a big smile as she walked over to our table. Christine is still intoxicated and halfway in control of herself, she is seriously horny as well, as seen by the way she is holding onto me and keeps begging for my touch.

"Christine," Vicky called.

"Yes pretty, I want to feel your touch please," she pouted and I sigh. I'm feeling guilty now, this is very wrong. Victoria noticed my mood change, she touches my shoulder to calm my nerves.

"We will soon be out of here," she assured.

"Do you know Mr. Mark?" Vicky asked Christine.

"What the fuck!" Christine exclaimed with a burst of loud laughter.

"The motherfucker is down below," she added with a clap.

"Really? Did he do anything to you? Did he hurt you, my love? Tell me how he touched you, were you angry with it?" Vicky asked curiously now looking into Christine intoxicated eyes, her hazel eyes now looking red.

"Get the fuck off me," she pushed me down and I hit my butt on the hard floor. I whined in pain, that hurt.

Christine stumbled as she struggles to get out of the room. Vicky rushed to her immediately, she held her hands but she pushed her away as well. She was about to run out of the room when Vicky pinned her to the wall with her pistol. She smirked as she runs the pistol slowly on Christine's body, Christine's eyes widened with fear. My heart skipped as well but my best friend was not shaken.

"Let her go," a deep baritone voice commanded, Vicky and I turned instantly in the direction of the voice. I froze on the spot as I beheld the person in front of us.
