Vincent made vows of love to me, promised to always be by my side, but when I realized it, he was smiling while he thought he had killed me. My own husband had planned my death. "Don't worry, dear. I don't make vows of love, but I guarantee that I can destroy anyone you wish, and besides..." - Matthew smiled as his hand went up my hip - "I can fuck you like no one ever has before." That man was dangerous, and I knew it in every inch of my body, but I couldn't help feeling safe and tempted by him. Matthew Ricci was my biggest weapon for the revenge I had planned and also my biggest desire at that moment.

Chapter 1 Lie

Where had I been deceived?

Where had I gone wrong?

"You can't escape me, Lucy!" Vincent yelled, and I could feel the smile in his voice. "Your time has come, Lucy. I'm tired of this damn game."

Game?

Was that what I had been to him?

Four long years of marriage, just a... game?

Madness.

It was madness.

It had to be, but... the blood in my abdomen told me otherwise, the gunshot Vincent had given me - it was like a damn memory: it was real.

My husband was trying to kill me.

"Lucy!" He shouted for me, but the air seemed to disappear from my lungs, seemed to... choke in my throat.

I wasn't going to make it, I knew I wasn't going to escape from there, from Vincent.

A loud horn, a bright light in my face, and a big impact on my ribs.

I had been run over.

"Oh..., dear..." Vincent's sweet voice reached my ears, and I saw his hand come close to my face. "I told you, didn't I? You can't escape me, look how you ended up?"

I closed my eyes tightly, forced my body not to move, holding my breath - because my life depended on it.

Vincent was there and determined to finish the job he started.

"Dear... you could have made everything easier and ended this more... smoothly. Directly." He said and even with my eyes closed, I could feel the laughter in Vincent's voice.

"Sir? Do you think she'll still survive?"

I heard one of Vincent's henchmen ask.

"She? No, dear, she won't. Are you so inconvenient as to try to survive after a gunshot and a hit-and-run? Lucy is a good girl and will surely die silently," he said with "affection," a sweet tone he always used when talking to me, a tone loaded with a melody of pure sarcasm, something I had never noticed before.

How deluded I was.

A hard blow to my ribs and Vincent's laughter made me gasp, a silent gasp - loaded with the fear of being discovered.

"See?" He laughed. "This little thing is gone for good, her and anything she may have carried in her belly."

I almost laughed at that moment, almost fee the laughter coming out of my throat and escaping through my lips.

Of course.

Vincent had planned it all because I thought I was pregnant with his child.

Pregnant.

My stomach churned.

I had thought I was pregnant with that monster's child, had...wished to be pregnant with that man.

"So...what should we do, sir?" One of the henchmen asked, and Vincent sighed as I heard his footsteps moving away from me.

"Dump her somewhere, preferably on the side of a road, like those amateurs would do when they screw up the wrong person."

The henchman chuckled.

"Do you rethink everything, don't you sir?"

"I have to think," Vicent replied in a joking tone, "after all, I had to lie to this mediocre little thing for 4 long years."

A knot formed in my throat, and even after my body was dragged into the trunk and dumped on the side of a road like a homeless person, nothing seemed to hurt more than the truth being shoved down my throat.

My life was a complete lie.

My marriage and the smiles I thought were just for me were just a long and beautiful lie.

My body was completely frozen with anger as the car drove away from me. My eyes took a while to open, and the pain that dominated every cell of my body seemed nothing compared to the adrenaline that invaded my muscles and took over my nervous system.

Vicent had betrayed me and destroyed my life and world as if it were nothing. All because he wanted to get me out of his way? All because... he put up with me for 4 years?

It was a joke.

Vicent was a complete joke, and if he wanted to see me dead, I would survive.

I would tear reality apart with my nails and force my life down that scoundrel's throat.

I would live.

I would get revenge.

I would destroy Vicent and laugh on top of his corpse as I reminded him of this night. As I reminded him that he killed... my innocence, the girl who fell hopelessly in love with him.

With pain and hatred, I crawled with my nails dug into the ground, my bones seemed to creak, and my mouth was filled with my blood.

I threw myself on the asphalt of that almost abandoned road, waiting for a true miracle, and as if the gods existed, as if something there looked out for me - the cold wind of the night didn't freeze me, and a car that was speeding didn't run me over.

No.

It stopped.

The door opened, a warm hand touched my shoulder, and with curses in Italian being uttered almost inhumanly, I felt my body being lifted in strong arms, and soon I was inside a car.

"Don't die," a rough and cold voice seemed to COMMAND, "You don't have permission to die."
