This story is about the secret activities of some set of people in a well-known company in Manelda. In the novel, some brilliant and wealthy women are shown throughout the plot including Marina who falls in love with Zally and later collaborates with many others to invent new things and change Manelda completely. It is in the company that Zally meets with one Coluigi, a rich and ambitious businessman and learns a lot from him which forms the idea of the whole novel where he, Zally started to devise strategies to create new things in his own name like his friend.
Chapter 1 MEETING WITH
"This is the second time I'll be hugging you today, babe" Marina whispered to his ears as he went for the door.
He was a strong man of twenty-one years of age. When Coluigi was ten, his mother always told him to be careful of himself especially in the midst of females and harsh bosses. Before this, the family had known that he, Coluigi would be a trailblazer in the future and so, they knew he was going to work with tycoons anytime later than then.
The first time I saw this man was the time we were in an interview together by Humby, the administrator and financier of our company. That time, Mr Humby asked intentionally asked us to sit on the bare floor. Actually, no one wouldn't reason that as senseless as it seemed to be; we sat on the tiled floor and answered questions he threw at us. The one question of his that I can never forget is that, "if you gain this job, what will you do in the future?"
Coluigi didn't always think twice in his replies to people even on convoluted matters. He moved closer to the interviewer and answered him bluntly.
"Well, your work is to groom us to become World future activists..." In that wise, he wasn't permitted to complete his words as the interviewer caught the sense he wanted.
"Oh, activists? That's great!" He hailed Coluigi.
"We want to work here in order to set lines for the coming generations to climb and follow to build our World!" I gave mine.
"Hmm, pregnant."
That was when I discovered Coluigi was not just an ordinary person; he was an orator and was equally a sage. I thought I would be happy and feel fulfilled having such as a companion till I leave for abroad.
Marina had been in the company for so long, so she often behaved somewhat bossily and dictatively to a length. A lady in her early teens who was very beautiful and wealthy, was known to be most brilliant in Manelda and there was also one Stella who was excellent, too in that company.
Of course, she would be a cynosure to many guys as attractive as she was, even to me, myself. The memories of how we walked and talked together since I was employed came on me and I was overwhelmed. I almost sobbed because, I felt rejected. What could Marina be looking for in a man that I didn't have? I mean, what?
"I love you actually but you don't fit in with me in any way" she once said. Although the statement was heavy, I kept it in and bent for her. It was a rainy Wednesday when she ran into me. She hugged me and asked if I still loved her. I was surprised and I thought she was pranking me after all, it was an April.
April fool gained wisdom this time!
"I've been looking for you all this while, dear..." Marina continued.
"Oh, I look like a rat?" I asked her funnily.
"No, babe but.... You know, all those times you asked for a date, I wasn't ready and again, my parents were against any union in my age."
"Hrrh...." I sighed and held her cheeks.
Actually, she gave a good reason why she ignored me like a tattered cloth. It was true this lady had been working those times I admired and crushed on her. She was seventeen years old then; she was also more of a fashionista too, then. Now, she had deliberately removed all her makeovers to test the genuineness of those who crushed on her, including me.
"Colby, Coluigi, Trolver, Bandaz, Livyeon.... Mention them, they have one time been my besties before but not now.... That you're back, my love...."
"Oh darling, remember our code?"
"Here for work, there for love...." She recited and laughed.
"For now, there's nothing like love till we reach Hollins Bar, or home."
"Okay, dear."
The only thing that still surprised me was how she started relating with my friend, Coluigi these days. She did everything like a lover, to him though same was done to me, as well.
She hugged, kissed, romanced, massaged, played with him whenever she wanted to. There was a time this same Marina asked him for a quick copulation which the latter refuted. What could make her demand so much from an outsider and be hesitant to even give me love to my satisfaction?
Well, whether or not she was really in love with a duo, I didn't bother to know or reason. I just warned her never to disrespect me by going back on her words. I hated that, of all things. Reneging promises would prove the insecurity of our relationship.
