Blurb: Alpha Lam has been awaiting the connection of his mate after five years of coming of age and another three years of being Alpha of his pack. He is curious as to why he has not met his mate. Lam does not know how to feel when on the night of her eighteenth birthday he feels a supernatural connection with his younger sister indicating that she was his Mate. Was this a prank from the moon goddess? He sends her far away in a bid to settle his mind and heart but is the distance enough to keep her away for life? Or would the truth come out and the troubles be resolved. But what path would they have to take before they finally discover that the moon goddess really knows how she works.
Lam's Pov
"I cannot wait to be home Marc" I said leaning on the vehicle's headrest " it's been what? Three weeks?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"Three weeks and two days Lam. Another day before we were home." He said and shrugged. We were exhausted and remained silent as the truck topped off.
We had gone to another pack with the purpose of drawing a battle line after countless trespassing from its pack members. Rather than fix a battle date we had left as allies, we came to an agreement and settled it off amicably which was rare but useful. We were in good spirits but we were exhausted.
"What do you think of my situation?" I asked out of the blue. I personally didn't know where the question had come from, but I know where I was heading.
"What situation Lam?" Marc responded lazily, he probably knew where I was heading and he already had a response memorized, he was the most efficient person I had ever known.
"Why am I mateless?" I asked, turning to look at him as he rolled his eyes and grunted. It was a topic I broached every five hours and lately I was even more obsessed with the idea of finally getting a mate than finding my Luna.
"You're not mateless Lam, some people just take longer than normal to find their Luna and joyfully you're one of them. You get to enjoy your singleness until you finally find her." He said reasonably but u was not convinced
"I wonder if all of my ill manners have caused the moon goddess to curse me." I joked, and Marc looked at me with amusement, his confusion mirrored on his expression.
"How can one be the leader of a pack, strong and skilled with the qualities of a leader and still be so unreasonable?" he said plainly and I opened my mouth to respond but when the vehicle suddenly stopped and I sensed chaos outside, my wolf instincts tingled.
I jumped out from the van and so did Marc, we were confronted by a broad man of our size -maybe a little broader around the chest- stood with his claws pulled out as if in readiness for a fight.
"Is that your alpha" the man asked the guards and before they could respond he pounced on me. I quickly grabbed him off me and we both wrestled until Marc managed to separate us.
I lunged for him again and this time my claw drew a mark across his chest. Marc held me back and I breathed heavily while the other man stood there looking at me like he wanted to pluck out my eye.
"What was that about?" Marc asked him then he looked at me
"Lam what was that about? Do you know him?"
"Lam Romero, Alpha of the Roman Pack. Thought we decided never to trespass" he said ignoring Marc
"Phyllis Dore, I am not on your land." I responded, hatred seething from every part of my body.
"Or have you not heard that I have conquered this pack now? Or you would pretend and act like you don't keep track of all of my conquests?" He said, smirking.
"Do not be delusional Dore, I hardly keep track of failures. I am but passing by, don't be a coward and make foolery of yourself and your pack by attacking again." I said cleaning the blood from my cheek. "You have done enough damage" I said grinning.
He looked at me for a while and I could see my own hatred mirrored in his expression, if not a much more vile kind of hatred.
"I'd let it pass by due to your oblivion. But next I see you passing by, i sim sim for your mate" he said and turned to leave, I let out a laugh.
"That still hurts you? It's a long time ago, Dore!" I said.
"She's probably rolling in her grave now at your lie" he said and went away.
Grave? What did he mean grave? I had had a moment of pleasure with her, unfortunately Phyllis had chosen that moment to come in and he had found his mate in an awkward situation with me. We had fought tooth and nails and had swore off our allegiance.
There had been no love lost between me and Lisa but even I would have doubted that scenario if I were to stumble upon such. It was sad that she died, Lisa had been a great person.
"I gather you had some relations with them?" Marc asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Matter of fact I do." I said simply, his gaze ran through my face as though he was searching for something.
"You don't want to talk about it?" He asked.
"No, not at all," I responded.
He nodded and we fell
Back into a companionable silence as the vehicle rolled on, I was inconvenient and kept on twisting and turning. I could hardly wait to get back home and oddly the silence was now eating at my spirit. I sat up and stared down at Marc who was now asleep.
I opened a document, the one we had just signed at the True pack and went over the terms again. I was impressed with the clauses and quality, surprisingly I beat my own expectations and am doing great as Alpha. I felt proud of what I had done in the little space of time, and mostly of my family.
We spent another day on the road before finally we got to the pack house, I immediately felt at ease when I got home. I requested to take a walk around the pack house before going in, I inspected and surveyed. When I had come across my warriors in training I was even more impressed, the whole process around here made me happy.
This was my life and I loved it, now I just needed to find my Luna.
