Chapter 1 The Alpha's Return
Maisie POV
The atmosphere was filled with talks and excitement about the Alpha's return. There were a lot of preparations going on and I was currently cleaning his bedroom.
I was more than delighted to hear that he was coming back home. The thought of seeing his face again made me blush profusely as I cleaned the dusty top of his drawer.
No one would believe it but I had seen the Alpha before and it was extremely close as well. On the day I met him, I was cleaning his Beta's room.
It was my duty as a maid but it wasn't an easy job. As I cleaned the floor, I began to hum a sound that my mother had taught me.
The day was bright and the sky was clear of clouds. I didn't know what got into me but I found some peace as I hummed the song.
Just then, my eyes caught sight of a beautiful regalia inside the beta's wardrobe. At first, I thought it was for his lover and blushed at the fact that he was going to present it to her someday.
However, a devilish thought came into my mind and I bit my lips nervous that someone would catch me if I did what was on my mind.
"I am the only one here today, it won't be bad if I try it on," I mumbled to myself, then giggled while looking at the dress through the mirror.
After much thought, I chose to wear the dress with the mind of changing it immediately. I gasped in surprise when I saw how fitted the dress looked on me. The diamonds on it was so beautiful and the color was perfect for a young woman with fair beautiful skin.
If only I could have something as beautiful as this or have someone who would provide and shower me with love then I would have nothing to worry about.
But I was a pauper , an Omega of low status. No wealthy man would want to marry a maid without a reputable background. I sighed inwardly at the cruel truth that stung my chest. Even if I tried to work hard, I would never reach the level of a commoner.
As I was about to pull down the zip of my dress, a male voice resounded in the room, "Beta Luther?" He called out and I froze at the spot.
His presence was domineering to the extent that I began to quiver in fear. I was caught wearing a dress that belonged to the Beta. That minute, I felt my life would come to an end. However, the man lifted my chin and made me look at him.
"You look stunning," he said and I felt butterflies rumble in my stomach. After he muttered his words, I realized that he was the Alpha.
"I am sorry I..." I stuttered in fear then took a step backwards.
I had expected him to question my identity but he closed the space between us looking intently into my eyes. Just when we were inches away from each other, I felt a burning blaze of attraction.
This had never happened before and it was too good to be true that I was attracted to the Alpha. I began to fill hot as my body started to intensify with fire as he looked at my body.
And when I thought it was mere lust, I felt a string pull us together. A bond. The Alpha looked at me in realization and a smile braced his face.
"You are my mate," he said the words that were spinning around my head.
Trapped against the wall, our increased as the bond between us grows strong. Just as our lips were about to touch, his phone rang, killing our light.
"Please wait here," he requested before going out of the room to answer whoever had called him. I stared astonished at what had happened.
Everything seemed surreal to me even though I was the one who experienced it. Looking down at myself, I remembered that I was still wearing the dress I collected from the Beta's wardrobe and removed it immediately.
I wished that I could wait for the Alpha's return but I had gone out for so long and my madam would be looking for me. Packing the cleaning equipment I had come with, I fled the room.
Now, I was going to see him again. That day, he had searched the entire mansion for me but I chose to be silent and watched everything in amusement.
Having Alpha Zane as my mate was the only good thing the moon goddess had done for me. She decided to take away my pain by blessing me with someone like him, regardless of my poor status.
"Maisie, you have been cleaning that spot for years. Do you wish to get on the Madam's bad side this morning? Hurry up with your work if you don't want to be starved of dinner," my friend Henrietta reminded me, and I smiled knowing that my life so change.
"I know it is the Alpha's return but is all this work too much?" Irene, another maid that was with us complained. We were four four people cleaning up the room because of it's magnanimous space.
"The last time he was back, I heard he found his mate. I think it will be marriage once he returns today. His mate must be very beautiful. Have you seen the Luna? She is a damsel," Henrietta praised the Alpha's mother who I had never seen. It was rare to meet someone of her status, especially when she ran some of the business in the pack.
The thought of Alpha Zane presenting me to her as his mate made me smile like a fool.
"What is up with your smiley face? You surprise me sometimes Maisie," Lovelyna scoffed at me playfully.
I had not told them about my connection with the the Alpha and would love to see their facial expressions when he declared me his mate in front of everyone.
"The Alpha has arrived ,take all this immediately," Madam Lucille informed us and I smiled within.
