Chapter 1 Lana

I had never been the type to get into relationships quick. The last relationship that I had was about 3 years ago and it had made my life a living hell. It took me pretty much those 3 years to recover and get my life on track.

My life had finally started to make me happy. I had a routine that I never strayed from and every morning it was the same.

Coffee while I got ready for work as I listened to the news. Got my lunch ready and packed. Always a salad and an apple. I always wore a suit even though my job didn't require one. I just liked looking sophisticated. I packed my gym bag for after work and put it near the door along with my lunch and my purse. My routine was scheduled down to the very minute.

Knowing my routine and what the day consisted of left very little room for unexpected events and surprises. Oh and I hated surprises.

My phone rang as I was slipping my shoes on.

"Hello?" I said frowning. I wasn't expecting any phone calls so early in the morning.

"Miss O'Reilly, someone is waiting for you at the office. We tried to make him leave but he refuses and says he will leave as soon as he speaks to you," my assistant Ella said on the other end.

He? I didn't have any meetings until later this afternoon and it wasn't with any males.

"Well you can tell him that he's going to have to wait all day because no one shows up unannounced to my office demanding anything from me or my employees." I said hanging up.

I always wondering why people thought they were so entitled to do as they please. No at my office.

My day had barely even started and I was already having to deal with something out of order.

I got in my car and made my way to the office. As I was walking in I could hear some commotion coming from the reception desk. I watched as Ella quickly made her way over to me.

"I'm so sorry I was trying to get this situation handled before you got here. Susan is trying to talk to him now."

Susan in fact was trying to get him out. I could here her as I made my way farther away from the desk.

"She doesn't want to see you. You don't have an appointment. Don't make me call security. They will drag you out of here."

I couldn't help myself. I chuckled and shook my head. Susan had that under control no need for me to intervene.

"Okay so any news on the article and how it's coming along?" I asked sitting in my chair as Ella closed the door behind her.

"No. I tried to get a move on this morning but they said they're not ready yet," she said looking defeated.

"Okay well you can call them and tell them that if I don't have a draft by the end of today that they can kiss their spot in the magazine goodbye. I have other articles and people dying to be in the magazine and I don't like being kept waiting," I said shaking my head.
