Cold was the weather when Devon left for a journey of no return or so he thought. Elena, who was left by Devon, felt nothing but cold. Soaked from the tears pouring from her eyes and down to her piece of clothing, all she ever wanted was someone to love her just the way she was. With all that was occurring at that moment in time, she couldn't help but find herself holding onto Devon, pleading for a rethink on this journey he was about to embark on. Devon on the other hand was already set to go, he had just completed his mission.
Yes, he had just taken advantage of the lonely young lady, whose weakness was love and being pure of heart.
Seated in a five-star fancy restaurant and left to sob for what had just occurred, she began to reminisce on all she has had to put up in the hands of men. In that instance, she got more broken and began to tear up all over again.
"Excuse me ma'am" the waiter calls to her attention. "Here is your bill" he presents it to her as he readjusts his position facing her. Shocked by his discovery, he couldn't help but find himself taking up the bills and accepting to take care of the bills himself.
"You know what, don't worry about that, I think you have a lot to worry about. I will just take care of this one myself." he walked away with the bill slip.
"Wait!!!" Elena tells him, bringing him to a halt, "That is unfair to you; I can't let you do that. I will take care of my bills, thank you for your concern." She acknowledges his care but requested that she pays her bills herself.
"Don't worry ma'am, it's fine," he assured her. "Besides you have a lot to worry about like I said before."
"Okay then, thank you." She appreciated his kind gesture, then went on to introduce herself to him. "I am Elena MacAllister, how about you?"
"I am Jason, my friends call me Jase" he replied. "Oh, you need to start creating space for personal peace and self-love. That way stuff like this will never happen." He added as he walked away from her table and headed to attend to the other customers.
With a heavy heart, Elena watched Jason attend to other customers, his kindness a balm to her soul. She realized that maybe, just maybe, some kind men still exist. The warmth of Jason's gesture ignited a spark within her, even though Elena was too heartbroken to admit it or give it a thought.
She cast her mind back to the time she met Devon, how sweet he was to her in every way and how he had promised to always be there for her at all times. She has built her world around him and hoped for' happily ever after' with him.
"How could he have suddenly changed? What have I done wrong? Was he just kidding all along?" She asked with her eyes heavy with tears as it rolled down her cheeks. She got her handkerchief and quickly wiped her eyes and tried to get herself together before another person around her in the restaurant noticed her state of distraught.
Elena got up with her heart sealed and determined never to allow any man make her feel this horrible and miserable anymore. Never again!
"Afterall, this love thing is obviously not for me. I have never been lucky with it. I have got to move on with my life and career." She thought.
With these thoughts in her mind she left the restaurant and headed home.
