Chapter 1 The End

"Let's end this relationship," said Ambrose Carter.

The high-end restaurant was heavily illuminated, with chandeliers shining as if to complement the polished mahogany teakwood set of tables and chairs.

"What did you say?" Isabella's eyes glistened as she fought back against her tears.

"You heard me right, Bella!" Ambrose growled, trying to keep his voice in check as he looked around them.

Isabella's heart pounded in her chest as she stared at Ambrose, struggling to comprehend his words. "Why, Ambrose? What did I do wrong?" Her voice cracked, betraying the emotions she was desperately trying to keep in check.

Ambrose sighed, running a hand through his perfectly styled hair. "It's not about what you did, Bella. It's about what I want. I need freedom, space... This relationship is suffocating me."

Tears welled up in Isabella's eyes, but she refused to let them fall. "Suffocating you? After seven years, now you feel suffocated?"

Ambrose's eyes hardened. "Yes, Bella. Seven years is a long time to realize that maybe we aren't meant to be."

The silence between them was deafening, broken only by the clinking of cutlery from the other diners who seemed oblivious to the emotional storm brewing at their table.

Isabella fell silent, timidly nibbling on her lips, as she remembered the sight she beheld the day before. Infact, she had wanted to end the relationship but she couldn't just bring herself to do so.

Just two weeks ago, they celebrated their seven years anniversary. Ambrose and Isabella had been childhood sweethearts right from when they were kids and started their relationship while they were in high school. Their relationship actually came a long way.

Just when she thought their relationship could actually lead to marriage, she was dealt with a painful blow.

She had gone to Ambrose's mansion the day before, hoping to surprise her loving boyfriend. But instead she was surprised instead, walking into Ambrose's house only to hear loads of sensual moans and smacking of bodies coming from the master bedroom.

Unsure of what she heard, she bent down to pick Ambrose's shirt, carelessly thrown across on the floor, a red lipstick stain on it.

She walked in the direction of Ambrose's room, the door slightly opened. She looked into the room in horror as her tears dropped. The girl beneath him clung desperately to his back, her long red nails leaving red marks on his skin, adding to the collection of fading scratches already in display, hinting that this wasn't their first time intimate.

"Oh Ambrose.. yeah.. give it to me Ambs," the lady cried out in what could only be an extreme pleasure which Ambrose had never given to her in all their years of their relationship. They never even had sex.

He released low groans before he opened his mouth to talk to her, "Babe.. you're fucking tight!"

Isabella couldn't bear to remember the whole incident.

"I saw you," Isabella whispered, her voice barely audible.

Ambrose stiffened, his eyes narrowing. "Saw me? What are you talking about?"

"Yesterday," she continued, her voice gaining strength. "I came to your mansion to surprise you. Instead, I heard... I heard everything. The moans, the... the sounds coming from the bedroom."

Ambrose's face flushed with anger and guilt. "You had no right to barge into my house unannounced!"

Isabella's hands trembled as she clenched them into fists. "No right? After everything we've been through, I had every right, Ambrose. I thought you loved me!"

Ambrose looked away, unable to meet her eyes. "Things change, Bella. People change. I don't love you anymore."

The finality of his words struck Isabella like a physical blow. She felt her resolve crumbling, but she forced herself to speak. "Who is she, Ambrose? Who's the woman you've been cheating on me with?"

He remained silent, his jaw set in a stubborn line.

"Answer me!" Isabella demanded, her voice rising.

A few heads turned in their direction, curious eyes settling on the couple. Ambrose leaned in, his voice a harsh whisper. "It's none of your business."

"None of my business?" Isabella repeated, incredulous. "You're breaking up with me in a public place after cheating on me, and you think it's none of my business?"

Ambrose stood up abruptly, tossing his napkin onto the table. "This conversation is over. We're over, Isabella. Move on."

As he walked away, Isabella felt a wave of despair wash over her. She sat there, stunned and heartbroken, watching the man she thought she would spend her life with disappear into the night.

The waiter approached cautiously, sensing the tension. "Miss, would you like anything else?"

Isabella shook her head, her voice barely a whisper. "No, thank you."

She gathered her things and stood up, her legs feeling like lead. As she hurriedly walked out of the restaurant, her head hung low from embarrassment, she made a silent vow to herself. She would move on. She would heal. She would become stronger than ever before. And she would never give any man her love.. ever again.

Dejectedly, she aimlessly dragged her feet across the high-end streets, her handbag dangling by her side as she bursted out in tears, tasting the bitterness of her own sorrow.

She decided to live just one night of recklessness, afterall no one cares about her at home neither her step mother nor her biological father.
