Chapter 1 PARALLEL WORLDS

CHAPTER ONE

PARALLEL WORLDS

A woman in her mid forties grabbed the hair of a young woman roughly, "You are humble aren't you? Pretending to be docile, but scheme behind your sister's back." The woman scoffed and pushed Avery to the ground.

"Mother, I didn't. I just accidentally saved an old man's life, I didn't know he was related to a wealthy family." Avery whimpered and tried to weakly clear the misunderstanding.

Three months ago, she married one of the wealthiest but dark overlord, Lucius Devon. She hasn't met her husband even once and doesn't even know what he looks like.

Yesterday, she came back to visit her maternal home, but unexpectedly she was met with an unwelcome attitude from both relatives. Avery had been treated harshly since young, but none of it mattered as long as she could feel a little bit of the affection called familial love.

She had been dedicated all her life to make this family love her even if it was a little bit. Avery was too weak to fight back and has a strong inferiority complex, which also affects all her decisions and emotions.

"Mother, remember, her husband's family gifted her with a new diamond jewellery, I want it." Helen raised her nose, with a strong sense of superiority, completely different from the woman who was on the floor sobbing.

Helen's mother dotingly nodded and glared harshly at Avery in turn.

"Did you bring the jewellery? I remember I sent you a message to bring it when visiting?" The woman's voice was harsh as ever.

"Mom, the butler didn't let me bring it with me." Avery kept looking at her feet, unwilling to raise her head up to meet her mother's eyes.

"How dare you lie to me!" Infuriated by her stupid response, the woman whacked Avery again and again. There were four slaps in total. Harshness and wickedness filled the woman's eyes.

Unable to bear the pain anymore, Avery fainted at the last slap.

"Tchh. So weak." Disgust filled Helen's eyes as she stared at her step sister. Helen bent downwards and yanked Avery's head, seeing her bleeding forehead, she gave a comfortable scoff. "Mom, I think she really fainted this time around."

They didn't bother to lift her up, and the maids didn't dare defy their boss's wife, for they knew how treacherous and shrewd she was.

Yes, Avery's mother is dead. She died when giving birth to Avery and Mr. Mark had no other choice but to marry a second wife. Since he is rarely at home due to company matters, he has no idea that his daughter was being maltreated. They always maintained a calm facade, and he never bothered. Even if he knew, he wouldn't do anything. Because, his wife's identity is mysterious, he doesn't dare mess with Catherine Dawn. Taking more liberty, Catherine hid every evidence to Avery's treatment very well, allowing no loopholes at all.

No one knew that this was the final breath of Avery Whiteman. She took her last breath on that hard cold floor.

In another dimension.

A woman on black leather boots, black leather pants, black leather top, with a black mink coat, walked in with a deadly aura. She slowly walked into the cathedral leisurely.

Her heart has already been numbed by the world. Her sharp eyes feared no danger. The security watched as she walked into the cathedral church and walked towards the priest in charge of confession.

A wicked smirk laced on her face, she feared no death. Her target is in the church and has been hiding inside there for a week. As a woman with little Patience, she has no time to play cat and mouse with a bastard. Every single one of her time is important.

The security in charge stood on standby incase of any mishap that could occur. The woman noticed their reaction but paid no heed.

"Priest, I am here for confession." Hearing her words, the other associate priests stopped their actions and stared at her.

Her eyes were deep like an abyss. A dark blue abyss.

"Child, confess your sins." The priest looked at her warmly, discarding his earlier wariness of her.

For a moment, Avery paused and withdrew her aura in an instant. She smiled at the priest. Her smile was clean and her face was very beautiful. Tears streamed down her eyes as she said, "My life has been meaningless since birth. I have tried looking for happiness, but found none."

The priest stared at her and sighed, "Child, the life you've lived till now isn't a waste, at least you can protect yourself, you eat good food, wear good clothes and you look very healthy. What you lack is internal joy. Your soul is blank and filled with cruelty. But God can hear your inner pleading and grant you grace."

She chuckled, staring into an empty space. "I once wished for a happy family, or at least, something or someone I can call my own. I guess wishes don't come true. I don't believe in grace, neither do I believe in the God you say. But... guess what?, I'm willing to believe 10 percent of its existence, as of this moment." The priest was caught off guard by her revelation.

"Then why are you here if you don't believe?" He sounded serious and amazed at her way of thinking.

Avery suddenly laughed like a devil, "I am here on a mission...to kill someone. That person must die today, even if I end up losing my life. This is a church, and I plead for the God you serve for forgiveness for discreating the sanctity it upholds." She stood up from her kneeling position, and the next moment, she brought out a silver gun from her holster and shot the priest. The bullet pierced his forehead, passing through the back of his forehead and he fell backwards, dead.

Avery targeted the other priests, two minutes later, seven priests lost their lives, even the three security was not spared.

Immediately, she ran into the boarding room where her main target was, her body was very flexible and she shot whoever blocked her way.

Unaware, her target already hired assassins to get rid of her.

Avery knew someone was following her, but she didn't care at all. Maybe her death together with the innocent people she killed, those people will be able to get indirect vengeance. It will be her penance.

Avery pushed open the door and caught her target about to jump off the building into an awaiting helicopter in the air. Without blinking her eyes or engaging in an unnecessary discussion, she shot at him, the bullet piercing through his heart immediately.

He looked at her with a look of disbelief. "How... did you...find me?" He muttered struggling to speak.

"I have told you before, I have foresight, my targets can't escape from me, unless I want it to happen." She pointed to her brain, her face laced with sacarsm. "You deprived me of my family, my happiness. This is my payback to you, uncle Jeremy. Go to hell." She pulled the trigger and the bullet precisely hit his forehead.

Jeremy's expression collapsed and he fell off the window.

Before Avery could turn, a bullet pierced through her heart twice. Her assailant movements were very fluid.

Blood dripped from her mouth, but she laughed like a demoness let loose from hell. Her tone filled with arrogance, "This is the penance to all the innocent souls I killed today. But I'm sorry, you will join me to meet the king of hades." Instantly she pressed the button of the time bomb she wore inside her body and the whole cathedral blew up.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ “I want to get a divorce, Mark,” I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time—even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
