Chapter 1 A marriage proposal
The Smiths are one of the most prestigious and respected family in the country. From generation to generation, they have been following the traditional rules/rituals created by their ancestors.
The head of the Family Lane Smith has one son and one daughter, Damon Smith (eldest) and Angela Smith in the family. Both their' personalities are polar opposite to each other. Damon is dominant and smart while Angela is submissive and naive.
The Smith family was unique because of their great grandfather who was a devotee. His prayers were answered, and They were blessed by God with a miracle. They got blessings that their family will never deprive heirs and one of the members of the family will be blessed to produce a powerful and intelligent heir.
And this time God blessed them with Angela. The Smith family is very protective over their youngest because she held divine power and was pure and naive at nature. Angela has very minimal dreams. She wants nothing but a loving partner with whom she will build a happy family with.

Baywood's were the richest and most influential family in country. The family head is Adom Baywood, who is a well-known businessman and has only Son Sebestian Baywood which handles the empire due him being old.
Allen Baywood, Sebestian's mother is a loving lady, she is always worried about her son and husband who are very alike. Solely focused on business and with lacking communication skills, very straight forward behavior even if it hurts someone, they will say what they think without sugar coating anything. She knows their headstrong behavior will lead them Nowhere, even if she tries to make them understand they brush her off.
This behavior of Sebestian, same as his father, makes Allen utterly sad. She can reminisce about her early wedding days which were horrifying, she doesn't want this for Sebestian's partner to face in future. But she can clearly see the same things were repeating. She hopes whoever that be, they will be enough strong to go through this torture.

The Baywood's gather around their large dining table, ready to have their dinner together. Allen excitedly serves them as she made some of Sebestian's favorites. But she doesn't even see him smile while eating them. The same expression the whole day.
"Sebestian sweetie how was your da-" His mother starts but gets cut off by Adom.
"Sebestian, you know the Smith's, right? I have talked to Doni about your marriage with their youngest, if they agree then the wedding will take place next month, it is very beneficial for us" Adom says, laughing out loud.
Allen was stunned, her husband didn't even ask Sebestian if he wanted to marry him or not. She wants her child to find love and get married but with her husband being there it is impossible to even think about it.
Sebestian fisted his hand on the fork he was holding, marriage is a big decision that comes with responsibility. Dad didn't even ask him before proposing. But he is right, it will benefit them a lot. He will eventually get married. Why not now. Sebestian nods at his dad "As you wish"
"What are you saying dear? Marriage is not a joke or business deal to seek profit from, please get married only if you are ready to love your partner or if you love somebody dear" Allen says with a pleading eye.
"Love? What bullshit! It is a mere feeling for the limited time. But the empire and power you build, will be with you till your last breath" Adom says firmly. Sebestian agrees with him. Love and all. Baywood's doesn't waste their time on those things.
"Everybody knows their youngest is blessed, it will be cherry on top to get a powerful and intelligent heir from him, Sebestian heir is important Son, even if it doesn't work out in the end you need to get her pregnant"
Allen was petrified listening to this. Sebestian nods absentmindedly. She looks at them in disbelief, what is she expecting from her obedient son after all he has his father genes to not care about other people feelings.
"But Ad-" she tries again.
"End of discussion"

Angela was working on her new project with all the paint smear over her. She plays jazz in the background while doing her work. Her loves expressing her thoughts on the canvas. She is a free soul and a painter by profession.
Her family never pressured to join the business because her brother and dad are excellent at handling it. She was well pampered. She heard her dad calling her downstairs as she kept the brush down and went to meet her dad.
With a serious look all the Smith's family sat in the living room. Angela appears with a smile but frowns at the tense atmosphere.
"Angela come and take a seat" Lane Smith starts.
"How was your day dad?" Angela asks, sitting on the couch.
"It-it was good bub"
"Dad, let's not waste time, tell her" Damon says, his wife Ashly sitting beside him holding his hand.
"Tell what?" Angela asks with a smile.
"Love you know Uncle Adom? My good friend and business partner, well...well he proposed your hand in marriage for his son Sebestian" Lane Smith says with a hesitating expression.
Angela laughed at that but soon stopped when she saw everyone were utterly serious. What happened? Every time her dad tells them about Angela's marriage proposal everybody laughs it out and lets the topic go.
She looks down ashamed.
"What do you want me to do dad?" She asks innocently.
"Love we know how precious you are, Your pupil of our eye! But the time has come to take some big decisions in life, we can't ignore this topic any longer"
Unknowingly tears welled up in Angela's eyes, she knows where this conversation is leading too. She is sensitive and easily cries.
"I think having Baywood's has our in law's will be a great idea, Their Son is a well-mannered handsome young man. I have met him several times love. But we will never force you into something you don't want. But this proposal is something i can't just easily dismiss, give it thought Angela."
Seeing her father enthusiastically explaining and being tense, Angela realizes that he really wants her to marry this man. She loves her father too much to deny her wish and feels grateful that he even gave her a choice and didn't force this upon her throat.
"I-i don't know dad, I would like to see him first"
Lane Smith gets excited and fetches his phone, unlocking it to show the photo he clicked of Sebestian at one of the business events.
Angela takes a good look at the picture, at least the man is not that old and is insanely handsome, her heartbeat fastens as more she stares at the handsome man. She feels giddy in her stomach. Damon's voice interrupts her daydreaming.
"Angel! You don't have do this if you don't want too, dad tell the-".
"Brother! No i-i will marry him!" Angela panics and cuts him off. The sudden thought of rejecting feels antagonism to her.
"WHAT!?" Everyone stood up in shock. Lane Smith is the first one to go near her. Angela hugs her father tightly. Soon she will longer be Smith.
