Chapter 1 Unexpected incident

Alex Edwards stood in front of the mirror, imagining what his life would be like when he finally proposed to his long-time girlfriend. After several considerations, Alex has decided to settle down, a small smile curved by the side of his lips.

He slipped into a tailored suit, straightened his tie and grabbed his car key from the desk. He took the box containing the wedding ring he bought recently for this special event.

Alex stepped out of the house, with his heart filled with excitement; he couldn't wait to put the ring on Stella's finger, something he had always wanted.

Alex and Stella have been dating for three years; she has become part of him, and they have a special bond with each other.

He slid into a brand new sports car, which he had bought for himself a week ago, feeling the smooth leather steering wheel under his finger. A wave of excitement washed over him as he ignited the engine and heard it roar to life.

Alex didn't notice the fainted smell of burning rubber as he pulled out of the driveway, nor did he see the dark puddle forming under his car, unbeknownst to him that his brake had been tampered with.

"I can't wait to confess my love for her, today will be the best day of my life," he muttered inwardly.

As he sped down the busy street of the city, cars honked impatiently, while pedestrians were seen along the sidewalks. Alex tapped his finger against the steering wheel in time with the music blaring from the car speaker, he felt invincible and powerful, even as his car effortlessly navigated the twists and turns of the road.

Meanwhile, two blocks away, Hazel Mitchell and her husband, Liam Mitchell, were both inside a black sedan that was parked.

Hazel's hands rested gently on her pregnant belly while her husband was behind the steering wheel, smiling at her with that infectious grin she had fallen in love with years ago.

They have both been married for six years and without a child, not until Hazel conceived this time and since then, Liam has been the happiest man alive. Hazel's pregnancy wasn't the only good thing that happened to Liam; he was also promoted at the bank, a hard-earned milestone that had been years in the making.

"Can you believe this year is the best year ever? You didn't only get pregnant, but I was also promoted to a branch manager, meaning those late nights and missed weekends have paid off. The baby is a blessing, I believe when he comes to the world, he will come with more blessings." He said with his voice tingling with excitement and jubilation.

Hazel smiled softly, with her face etched with excitement. "I am proud of you, babe. You have worked hard for this. Remember they say children are blessings from God."

Liam giggles, reaching out to her hand and squeezing it. "This promotion means everything to us. I promise I am going to give you and the little one a better life, a life you have always dreamt about." He said firmly.

Hazel felt a surge of joy and love for her husband; she was also happy that her mother-in-law wouldn't have the mouth to call her barren any more; most of her friends who were trying to hit on her husband due to her inability to conceive had all been put on shame. Their love was perfect, and she is thankful to her husband for showing her perfect love even when his mother informed him to get another wife and divorced her, but he kept his faith high and refused to allow anyone to decide anything for him.

Liam kissed his wife by her cheeks as they both enjoyed each other's company; Alex Edwards's car approached the intersection where Liam and Hazel Mitchell's car was parked, waiting for the light to change.

Alex saw the red light and pressed his brake pedal, but instead of his car slowing down, it continued to move forward. Panic clawed at his chest as he continued to press harder on the brakes but there was no response. His mind thudded fast in his chest, his foot felt like it was pushing against the air.

"What is going on, why is my brake not working," he said as his face was etched with worries.

His mind was racing with fear and panic, he yanked the steering wheel to the left, but the car refused to stop. It veered right and straight towards the car that was parked. His hands were trembling; he was struggling with the brake, but still no response.

Alex's eyes widened in horror as he saw the couple inside his car. He could see the look of horror and fear on their faces as the car barreled towards them.

"No, no" Hazel and Liam screamed when they saw the car coming. Liam tried to start the car but he couldn't.

"No, No," Alex screamed while desperately trying to avoid the collision, but it was too late.

The sound of metal crunching against metal echoed through the street as Alex's car slammed into Hazel and Liam's sedan. The impact was so forceful that it sent both vehicles spinning into the intersection, screamed, filled the air, and people on the sidewalks gasped in shock and horror.

Alex's world became a blur of sound and motion; his head slammed against the steering wheel. Pain exploded in his spine, his legs were numb, and a crushing realisation hit him as he struggled to move. He couldn't feel anything below his waist.

Liam hit his head on the steering wheel, and the airbag deployed too late to save him. Hazel's world was thrown into chaos as the car flipped onto its side. Her scream was cut short by the jarring force of the impact. The last thing she felt before her vision went dark was a pain searing in her abdomen.

Passer-by called for help, and a few people rushed to help Alex out of the car. He was unconscious, same as the couples.

Would Hazel and her baby survive the incident? What will happen to Alex, will he be arrested and sent to jail? Will any life be lost?

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ “I want to get a divorce, Mark,” I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time—even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
