A journalist who fell in love with the story she was writing and the main character who is also a werewolf

Chapter 1 THE GALA

Emily Wilson emerged from the limousine onto the red carpet, the sound of her high heels echoing on the ground. She straightened her gown which was a snug black dress that settled gracefully on her curves. Being a journalist, attending high-society events like this charity gala wasn't quite what she was accustomed to but she had work at hand.Rossi Industries' CEO, Luca Rossi was her sole focus. She was aware of his reputation, surrounded by allegations of unsavory businesses and a questionable life.

Emily was interested, she wanted to know everything.Navigating through the commotion, a waiter offered her a glass of champagne which she accepted, her gaze falling on a tall skinny man with dark hair sitting on the other side of the room. Luca Rossi, it seems his influence could be felt even from across the room.Emily's heart sank when they locked eyes for a second. Is it me or Luca just turned super well dressed? She pondered for a second, the noise of everyone else started to disappear around her. For a moment it lasted. "Something seems off" she muttered under her breath as Luca looked away. What was it about this man that drew Emily in? She shook her head, her head moving in leaps and bounds as she took another sip of her champagne. Off the cliff bounded, this night she would get her story. And tonight, Lady Luck was on her side; maybe she would be able to unravel the chaos called Luca Rossi.Emily did not bring her gaze away from the back of luca as she moved through the crowd. I should move closer. What does it feel to be this man, she thought to herself. As she got closer, she was able to overhear a conversation involving him and a few businessmen that were dressed in suits.expanding to the Asian market..." He said, Luca, with a confident tone while still being calm. "...there are forecasts of registering high returns..." spoke one of the businessmen. Emily's interest in their conversation peaked. This was exactly the sort of material that she was looking for her story. She settled in a little closer by trying not to make her presence felt. She was just about to get her notebook out and start writing when sudden Luca turned his head and the two met glances again. This time, however, she felt like something tingled inside that made her stomach churn. Briefly, their eyes were locked together until Luca broke contact and excused himself from the group leaving for her. "Can I help you?" He asked his voice just above a whisper. Emily's heart crashes. She did not expect him to be in such a hurry. "I Don't Expect Him To Get To Me So Quickly, But I... I Was Just Getting To The Bar,"She Stammered.

Luca squinted. "The bar is that way," he said as he tossed his head in an opposite direction from where they were standing. "But I think you people will prefer the drinks more over here."

He pointed out a table next to them and there was a waiter filling a glass with champagne. Emily was surprised when Luca said, 'this one is for you'' as he handed her the glass.

"Thank You," she said while sipping through the cool, sparkling drink. Luca smiled and for some reason, his eyes radiated warmth. "You are welcome. It is my name; I am Luca Rossi," he said. Emily's one more heart skip, the man was supposed to have an aura but this, this was something she was not prepared for. "My name is Emily Wilson," she said even though her mind was still spiraling. As their conversations continued, Emily had a feeling she had let her guard down, or was getting more and more relaxed. Safe to say it was easy for her, Luca was sort of gentle and interested in knowing her. But as the discussion continued, Emily pondered why there was such a display of layers to a man like him. It was almost like geography class where each region has its own natural characteristics and he had plenty.

While they talked, Emily began to feel more comfortable. Luca was easy to converse with and seemed to really want to learn about her. She noticed how his eyes crinkled when he smiled and the slight curl of his hair at the back of his neck.

However, as the discussion continued, Emily couldn't ignore the sense that there was more to Luca, something hidden that he wasn't showing her. She caught hints of it in his eyes, a brief spark of intensity that flashed brightly before fading away."Tell me, Emily," Luca said in a deep voice, "what are your thoughts on the charity's work?" Emily felt a chill run through her as Luca's gaze seemed to penetrate her. His look felt like it was reaching right into her core. A flutter stirred in her chest, and she became aware of the music, the laughter, and the sound of glasses clinking around them.

"It's...it's incredible," she managed to say, struggling to gather her thoughts.

Luca continued to hold her gaze, and Emily felt as though she was sinking into it. She noticed the warmth of his body, the fragrance of his cologne, and how his presence seemed to envelop the whole room.Just as she thought she was going to pass out from the intensity of the moment, Luca's gaze dropped, and he smiled. "I'm glad you think so," he said, his voice dripping with charm.Emily felt a wave of relief wash over her, followed by a pang of disappointment. What was wrong with her? She was a journalist, not some swooning schoolgirl.

As the night wore on, Emily found herself drawn back to Luca again and again. They talked about everything and nothing, their conversation flowing easily. But beneath the surface, Emily sensed a tension, a feeling that Luca was holding something back.

And then, just as the evening was drawing to a close, Emily saw something that made her blood run cold. A figure, tall and imposing, standing at the edge of the room. Watching Luca. Watching her."Luca," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Who is that?"

Luca's eyes followed hers, and his expression darkened. "No one," he growled. "Just an old acquaintance."But Emily knew that wasn't true. She could sense the tension between Luca and the mysterious figure, a tension that seemed to vibrate through the air like a live wire.

As the figure turned and disappeared into the crowd, Emily felt a shiver run down her spine. What was going on? And what secrets was Luca hiding?
