“Once again, RomCom actress Myo Mi-Sun is in the spotlight, but not because of her single-niche acting. Rather, it’s for her lack of luck again,” the reporter beamed with a chuckle.
Behind them on the screen was a picture of the actress they were reporting on.
It wasn’t a flattering photo in the least.
The young woman was stuffing her face with Japchae between takes two years ago for Love Without Strings. It was the first time in nearly twenty-hours that Myo Mi-Sun had gotten a chance to eat, and someone snapped a picture of her with noodles hanging out of her mouth.
“Can’t a girl eat in private?!” Rain shrieked before changing the channel.
That photo haunted her for two years, and now it was back.
“Fire and Heartache, sounds like it should be the name of Myo Mi-Sun’s next straight to television dramedy-”
The channel changed again.
“First stood up at the altar on nationwide television. Then legal action was taken against the former television star when production was halted on the movie she was headlining. And now fire? What is next for Myo Mi-Sun?” the amused man asked before the television clicked off.
“Ugh!” Rain yelled in frustration, throwing her hands in the air, accidentally hurling the remote control at the television in the process.
Her eyes widened and mouth fell open.
The remote control hit the center of the large screen television where it embedded before sparks exploded from the high priced electronic and it started smoking.
“Oh no, no, no!” she gasped. “Cousin! Cousin!” she cried out, panicking.
Fire wasn’t something she handled well.
In fact, she didn’t handle most types of crisis rationally.
Hu Dae-Ho came rushing into the living room to see what had his cousin distraught this time.
“What did you do to the television?!” he shrieked, hurrying over and started fanning the back where smoke was coming from.
And apparently what neither of the twenty-four year olds realized was when there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Flames started to climb from the back of the television the more the young man blew on them in an attempt to put them out.
“Uncle!” Rain cried out.
Hu Jae joined them with a guest then groaned, shaking his head, pinching the bridge of his nose in an attempt to keep the impending migraine this was going to cause away.
It was of little use.
Of all the times for the Fire Inspector to come by to discuss the fire at Myo Mi-Sun’s residence, it would have to be when his son and niece were unintentionally catching his house on fire.
Why wouldn’t it have been?
Fire Inspector Bae Kwan’s eyes widened then instincts kicked in and he hurried into the living room. “Get a fire extinguisher!” he barked out as he unplugged the television.
Jae handed him the fire extinguisher he pulled from the front closest then stood back while the man put the fire out. “I’m scared to ask,” he said, looking to his son.
Dae-Ho pointed to his cousin. “Don’t look at me. I’m as much a victim to this travesty as the television is,” he complained. “We just got that one!”
Rain groaned, throwing herself back on the couch. “I didn’t mean to, Uncle. The remote flew out of my hand and it snowballed from there. I’m a victim of arson profiling,” she argued. “Who is that?” she asked as more of an afterthought when the fire was extinguished.
Jae looked to the ceiling and said a silent prayer for strength and guidance. “This is Fire Inspector Bae Kwan,” he introduced.
Her eyes widened before she buried her face in her hands. “Oh no. No. No. No!”
