CHAPTER ONE
THE BETRAYAL
My heart hammered hard in my chest. I felt as if my breath had been knocked out of me. My blood was running cold, and I could hear my ears ringing. My vision was blurry, and the floor was moving under me. The walls were closing in around me.
My sister had her legs wrapped around the waist of my boyfriend, and her hands were all over him. They were kissing passionately, and I was sure that I could see their tongues wrestling. The image was too much. My head spun and my knees were weak.
I could not believe what I was seeing.
I stumbled back into the wall, and it broke their moment. They turned around to look at me. He was naked from the waist up, and she had only her underwear on. Her breasts were out, and he had one hand cupping them. I stared at him, feeling betrayed.
""Li...Liam... what... what is going on here?" I asked, my voice was trembling, and I felt like I was going to throw up. He looked at me, and I could see guilt in his eyes. He pushed my sister away and she landed on the living room couch, her breasts bouncing up and down. He quickly got off the couch and started getting dressed.
"I...I can explain," he said, looking at me. "It's not what you think it is, Abby."
"So, this is not you and my sister in my living room, half naked?" I asked, glaring at him.
I turned to look at my sister, expecting to see a similar guilty expression, but there was none. She was glaring at me. I could not understand why she was looking at me that way. This was her fault, wasn't it?
"What are you doing here?" Zoey asked in a rather angry tone.
"This is my house, Zoey," I replied.
"No. It's not. Just because my parents were so kind to adopt you and your half-dead sister, doesn't mean you own this house. So, what the hell are you doing here?"
Her words stung.
They always did, and they had been the same since I moved in with her family when I was fifteen.
My parents had died in a car accident and my younger sister, Grace, had been seriously injured. The doctors had predicted that she was going to die, but somehow, she survived. It had taken her three years to get out of the hospital.
I guess Zoey hated that her parents had decided to adopt us. She made that known every single day.
"Why are you being so mean, Zoey?" Liam asked.
"Am I supposed to be nice to her? Why is she even here?" she asked.
"She lives here," Liam replied.
"No. She doesn't belong here. Her and her half-dead sister. My parents are so kind that they just kept taking in stray dogs." Zoey spat.
My face turned red, and I felt tears in my eyes.
"Why will you say such a thing Zoe? We are sisters. And you...you slept with my boyfriend. Aren't you engaged to someone else? Why are you fucking my boyfriend?" I yelled.
