“Do you, Ashley Davidson, take Dylan Gray to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“No, I don't.”
“Excuse me?” The priest asked to be sure he didn't have any hearing problems. If it were another person, it would be believable. But this was Dylan Gray!
The church erupted in murmurs and cameras clicked furiously.
“Um… yes. I mean, Yes, I do.” Ashley hastily replied.
That was when Dylan Gray started hating his wife.
“For clarity, Ashley Davidson, do you take this man, Dylan Gray, to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
The old priest sent Ashley a warning look, letting her know she had no choice but to agree.
“Yes, I do.”
Dylan didn't meet her eyes as he clenched his jaw in anger. He was exactly how she remembered him. His jaw always ticked when he was angry and it added a dangerous flair to his looks.
They exchanged vows and rings and Ashley paid intense concentration, to avoid mistakes. If she dared make a silly mistake, like letting the ring slip off her fingers, Dylan would spank her on the spot. Not that she was complaining.
“I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
Only one word seemed to jolt Ashley from her reverie.
‘Kiss.’
Ashley knew this part must be said and she had prepared herself for it. If she kissed Dylan, she was one hundred percent sure that she would forget all the wrong he did to her. She would let him go scot-free and she couldn't make that mistake.
Dylan didn't hesitate, but with stormy eyes, descended to kiss her lips. But Ashley quickly moved back.
“What's your problem?” Dylan gritted out, his face red. He knew all these silly antics of hers would be captured by the paparazzi.
Ashley could see the familiar veins slightly popping out on his forehead as he clenched and unclenched his jaw in anger.
“Sir, could we…hug? I really want my first time to be special.” Ashley muttered demurely, as she glanced at the priest from beneath her lashes.
“Of course! I understand, dear.”
Turning to a livid Dylan, the priest said,
“You may embrace your wife.”
Ashley sent Dylan a sickly, sweet smile as he came closer. The moment he took her in his arms, Ashley was lost.
She went back in time, five years ago, the first time she was cocooned in his warm arms. He had kissed her, whispered sweet nothings in her ear, and cuddled with her.
The memory was bittersweet but mostly filled with intense hatred. Ashley quickly disengaged, making him stare at her, confused.
“Happy married life, Lee!”
Ashley turned to see her younger sister, hugging her from behind. Robin was always an ice-breaker and she must have noticed the tension between the couple.
