Chapter 1 Aadhya's charming fiancé

DREAM

'Run Aadhya run!' Her mind yelled.

Aadhya's legs were ready to give up at any moment, but she wasn't. She kept reminding herself that she can't give up and kept running for her life with a black folder clutched tightly to her chest. After all, she'd risked her life for it.

Silent tears streaked down her cheeks as she stumbled and felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. Still, she didn't yelp in pain, knowing that she'd be dead if the people following her in that cold dark night heard her.

"Stop you bitch." A rough manly voice came from behind.

Chills ran down Aadhya's spine as heard the voice of one of her followers. She looked back, to find them still on her tracks. It was too dark for her to see everything clearly through her glossy eyes. She pulled out her phone from her pocket and called someone as her legs slowed down. A string of silent curses left her mouth as she realized that no one received her call from her other end.

As Adhaya entered into an another dark alley, she noticed that her followers weren't behind her anymore, and it brought a great amount of relief to her. Heavily panting, she looked around only to see that she was lost. The relief she felt few seconds ago quickly vanished as she heard some footsteps.

As the sound kept on increasing, Aadhya understood that they were approaching her. Her heart was beating wildly so much that she worried even they could hear her heartbeats. Panic stricken, she step just stepped back only to hit her self with the wall behind. Her hands flew over her mouth to stop her from making any noise or cry in pain caused by her stomach. She felt that time, the darkness was on her side, with her black hoodie, helping her in camouflaging between few cars parked around.

Slouching to the concrete floor, Aadhya gently yet whimperingly pulled out the knife which was stabbed in her stomach. Ignoring the blood on her hands and the pain shoot through her nerves, Aadhya managed to record a voice mail of her situation.

Before she could send the voice mail, suddenly out of nowhere four strong well built men towered her. Even in that horrible darkness, Aadhya was able the killer smirk plastered on their faces.

"Please don't kill me. I want to live." Never in her life, Aadhya had ever begged for something, but tonight, she did. For her life.

Snorting at her words, one of them pull her by her hair and snatched her phone, tossing it away. Aadhya hissed in pain, but she couldn't see even a bit of pity for her in their eyes.

"You fooled us for a long time. A backstabber like you deserves to die!" The one who pulled her by her hair barked.

"It was my work." Aadhya defended, still not leaving her folder.

"We trusted you. This time we won't spare anyone. Everyone should know what happens when they double cross us."

He grasped out the folder from her hands. Then he did something that she never expected him to do. He pulled out his gun aiming it at her.

"Burn this folder." He passed the folder to one of his accomplice.

The folder was held up in the air and a lighter was brought near it. The expressions of the man holding her at gunpoint turned sinister before Aadhya heard a shot, and pain caught her whole body. He shot her on her left chest. Aadhya's knees buckled out and body crashed on the floor but her eyes were still stuck at the folder as if her life was in it. As another man lit the lighter causing the folder to be burned, she shrieked at the top of her voice before passing out as a last set of tears slipped off her eyes.

"Noo." I screamed as I felt that it was me instead of that girl.

Instantly, I sat up straight clutching the sheets on me tightly. I wasn't ready to open eyes, worried what if it was true, and it was me who's still lying in that dark alley. Suddenly, a soft hand rested on my shoulder, making me flinch.

"Hey, Are you okay? Please open your eyes." A very sweet voice cooed in my ears.

The voice forced me to open my eyes. But sudden exposure to light made me close them again. I was clearly embarrassed for screaming like an idiot and causing fuss.

"Yes, I'm okay. It was just a nightmare." I mumbled, apologetically.

When I heard few footsteps approaching me, unconsciously, panic built up in me, causing be to breath unevenly. Realizing that I was uncomfortable, the same lady kept her hand on my shoulder again, trying to calm me down and assuring me that I was safe.

"Don't worry. We aren't here to harm you. They are just helping me shift you. "

"Shift me?" I questioned, being puzzled cause I had no idea about where I was.

"Yes, and you can open your eyes." She said but I shook my head.

"After you'll shift me!" I replied quickly.

"Okay."

After I was shifted somewhere with the help of wheelchair, and was helped out of it to the bed, I slowly opened my eyes to see a cute and short lady beaming at me. She seemed to be in her late twenties. She was wearing a plain dark blue saree with a stethoscope around her neck. Her long hair was pulled up in a messy bun. I gave her a small awkward smile in return, as I realized something that I hadn't voice out yet.

Then horror struck me as I saw my face on the mirror in front if bed, realizing that women I saw in the dream was with the same face. No, I strongly felt that it was me. That dream wasn't a just a nightmare, I felt so.

"I have some work so I need to leave but don't worry, you have a company. If you need anything just press to yellow button besides your bed. Don't hesitate." The lady chirped as I scanned the lavish hospital room where I was settled in.

"Ohkay." I replied, not knowing what to say.

When she started to leave, I called her out, asking her name.

"Ishika, Ishika Sharma." She answered with the same warm smile.

Suddenly someone barged inside the room and looked all around with a stoic face, before his eyes landed on me and those world's most breathtaking eyes instantly shone brightly, making my heart skip few beats.

"Oh! You came. She's wake now. You can spend some time with her. But just make sure that she doesn't stress on anything. It can also lead her to go back to coma." Ishika warned that man, who nodded his head, expressionlessly.

Coma! I was in freaking coma? But for how many days? Or years? Why couldn't I remember anything?

A big list of questions started pounding one by one on my mind, which I forcefully put a full stop on it, cause I didn't wanted to go back in coma because of stress.

I shot a look at the man standing in front of me. I checked him out from top to toe only to check if he was the one in my nightmare. But I was hundred percent sure he wasn't one of them. His height was bit shorter than those well built ones. He was in his grey formals as if he has just returned from a conference.

He approached me and pulled out a chair beside the bed, giving a small smile. But he refused to sit.

"Hi" He said.

His smile was very cute, and even dimples appeared on his cheeks. I wanted to tell him that he should smile more, but stopped myself.

I adjusted myself properly before asking him. 'Where am I?''

''In the hospital.'' Was his instant reply, which I figured out already because of the distinct hospital smell.

''How are you feeling?'' His voice was very uncertain, contrasting to his appearance. His appearance had an authoritative effect on the surrounding.

''Like a shit, but how did I ended up here?"

"Well.." He started off fumbling, making me a bit suspicious.

Oh! He doesn't knows my name, I thought. But I felt from the way he looked at me as if he knew me for a long time.

"Aadhya. I'm Aadhya" I said.

"I know you're Aadhya, but, wait, why are you introducing yourself to me? " He asked with bemusement in his voice, and wide eyes while tapping his legs on the floor crossing his fingers.

He knows me?

"You know me, great! Now tell me who I am? How do you know me?" I sat up straight so that I could hear him clearly.

"What? Wait. You don't remember anything" His asked bewilderedly and settled on the chair.

"Except my name!" I retorted sarcastically.

It was the truth. Till the time they were shifting me, I tried hard to recollect everything. But I couldn't. I didn't even get those flashes of past as in T.V. serials. Only thing I remembered was that dream and my name and had some common sense still stored in my memory bank.

"You look happy knowing that I have lost my memory." I pointed out.

His eyes had again lit when I told him that I couldn't recall anything.

"Well I'm not, and you are...you?.. you are my..fi..fiancée. We..we were about to get married but you then you met with an accident landing in coma for a couple of days, sabotaging our wedding."

He spoke starting little bit thoughtfully as if he was coming up with some story while ended pretty confidently. I wanted to tell him that I had just lost my memory but wasn't that gullible to buy anything his sells. But, I didn't.

"You? What's your name?"

"I guess we'll have start again so, I'm Veer Mehrotra." He forwarded his hand.

Without any hesitation, I gave my hand into his. As we shook our hands, I felt the touch be familiar, the same warm and caring touch. His touch erupted butterflies in my stomach. Something inside me told that he was no harm. And I believed it.

"And what's my surname?" I asked, pulling my hand away.

"Your surname? " His words were more like a question.

His replies forced me to rethink about his words that he knows me. I can't trust anyone like this, right? Not after that dreadful nightmare. But he felt familiar! His smile felt genuine! His captivating bluish green eyes seemed have real care and concern for me in them. As I looked away, a new set of questions rose in my mind.

What if those people got to know I'm alive? What if they try to kill me? Was that dream even real? I didn't had any answers for my questions. So I had to have someone beside me to help me to know my past. But I felt like this hot and handsome man won't help me. He was himself making up a story of his own or even it can be partially true but .... ugh, so much of confusion.

Veer abruptly answered bringing me out of my trance. "You're Aadhya, just Aadhya. You were an orphan."

I didn't know how to react so I just nodded. I was sure that confusion was clearly written all over my face since he stared at me with raised eyebrow.

"You don't trust me, do you?" He asked, with a knowing smile playing on his lips.

"Well, its too much hard to trust anybody when you don't even know who are you? What's your real identity? And even you took too much time to answer my questions." I shrugged.

He nodded saying that he can understand. That's when I clearly took a look of him. His mesmerizing, captivating bluish green orbs, slightly pinkish lips, perfectly gelled hair, devilish smile, fit body, just bit short in height but overall, handsome.

When I stared into his eyes, his eyes glistening with...happiness?

For a moment, he looked away and that was same the moment I heard him saying to himself 'I thought that I'd lost her'.
