Chapter one

Her P.O.V

I stared at my wedding picture one last time; I looked happy but I never really was.

Walking down the aisle thinking I made the right decision turned out to be the worst one I've made yet.

I stared at the picture one more time and it seemed to be mocking me one more time.I stared at another picture,Jenny was also there smiling next to my husband; the cheat and his mistress both mocking me.

"Arrgh!" I screamed throwing the picture frame.

"I hope the both of you rot in hell! I hate you both!"

I kept on screaming.

"What? What is it?" I shouted at the person who had called me.

"Is everything okay?"

The caller asked terrified at my response.

"No.. nothing is fine Hannah. Can you come over please" I begged already in tears.

"What going on? Are you crying?"

Her questions came

"Please come over"

"Okay I will be right there"

With that she ended the call.

"Why did you do this to me?" I asked staring at my husband's picture.

"I thought you loved me. You promised not to hurt me so why this?"

"I promise to love you always"

"You promise?"

"Yes"

He replied tickling me.

"Stop..stop" I replied laughing hard.

"Why? you look cute when you smile"

"Awwn you say the nicest things"

"Cause you deserve the nicest things.. I love you"

"I love you more"

"Nah I love you more"

"That's not true.. Mine is greater"

"Continue wishing"

"Oh really?"

"Yes really"

"Well it doesn't matter who loves who more what matters is that I love you" He said kissing me lovingly.

"No!"

I cried the more remembering all what he said.

Then on I remembered when Jenny met him through me.

"Jenny meet Zack my husband" I introduced smiling

"Hi" Zack came smiling.

"Hi..I see why she chose you" She replied smiling.

"Pardon?" I asked her confused.

"What I mean is you are good looking and you both look good together"

Came Jenny.

"I know right?" I said smiling.

"Why are we standing here let's go in" I said breaking the silence.

"Why not?" Jenny asked leading us to the restaurant.

"Jenny why didn't you tell me you were back from London?" I asked as we settled down to eat.

"I arrived not too long so I decided to be on a low-key"

"That's too bad..I wanted you to attend my wedding"

"When was your wedding?" She asked starring at Zack and then at me.

"Last month"

"Wow.. I'm so sorry I was around then but I didn't know"

"It's okay it's in the past now. So how's everything?"

"Good so far.. And you how's married life?" She asked her gaze still fixed on Zack who felt uncomfortable.

"Good.." I replied..

"Excuse me ladies" Zack said leaving the table.

"What was that?" I asked furious.

"What was what?"

"Why were you staring at my husband that way. Is there something you aren't telling me?".

"No of course not.. Why do you ask?"

"The way you keep staring at him"

"Sorry.. It's just that I also want to get married just like you. I want to be happy"

"Hmmm.. So Jim hasn't said anything yet?"

"Yes.. please let's not talk about that"

"What happened? Tell me Jenny"

"Maybe later.. I need to use the restroom, I will be back"..

She replied leaving the table..

"What took you guys so long I waited for close to an hour?" I asked starring at the both of them come out of the restroom..

"Ladies stuff" Jenny came

"And you?" I asked referring to Zack

"Men stuff"

He came

"I see.. would you both mind explaining it to me?"

"Not exactly.. I will be on my way now" Jenny said paying for her food.

"Bye" She replied leaving.

"What was that?" I asked starring at Zack.

"You tell me. She's your friend right so you know her" He replied rather rudely.

"What's up with you?"

"Nothing let's leave"

Zack said paying for our food.

"What happened that day?" I asked myself in tears..

I heard a knock and I walked to the door.

"What happened? I rushed here as soon as you called" Hannah asked..

I stared at her and hugged her tightly.

"I needed this"

"What's wrong dear?"

"Zack..." I replied crying the more..

"Calm down. Everything will be fine" Hannah said coming in.

She made me tea and stared at me as I broke down in tears.

"You know I can't see you like this, tell me what's wrong? What did Zack do?"

"Just take me out of here first"

"Okay.. Let's go."

Hannah replied leading me out of the door.

"I will be back let me get my luggage" I replied wiping my tears.

I went into the room and reached for my bag and luggage when my eye caught something I hadn't seen before.

"What's that?" I asked myself walking towards it.

"You coming?!" Hannah asked.

"Yes will be down soon!" I replied staring at a knob.

I touched it and a little door opened.

In shock I placed my hands into it bringing out a book.

"Why didn't Zack tell me about this?" I asked myself.

I opened it and it read.

"Diary".

"So this the diary of that cheat"

I replied angrily.

"What's taking you?" Hannah asked her voice sounding worried.

"Coming!" I replied putting the book into my bag. My bag in one hand and luggage in the other I walked out of Zack's house with Hannah by my side.

*Was I making the right decision?*

*Was I paving a way for Jenny to destroy my marriage?*

I needed an answer that's for sure but right now wasn't the time to get answered I need a new environment to be able to handle all this.

As Hannah drove I watched the road and other passengers on various vehicles moving.

"Where's your mind? Your phone has been ringing since?" Hannah said bringing me back to reality.

I stared at her and then at my bag. I opened it and brought out my phone on seeing the caller I angrily ended the call.

"Aren't you answering?"

"Why should I?"

"It's Zack isn't?"

I kept mute and she understood.

"You caught them together right?"

Tears flowed down my eyes answering her question.

"Jenny! That witch!" Hannah exclaimed.

She drove me into her house and parked.

"Arrgh!"She screamed in anger rushing out of the car.

Slowly I came out and she hugged me tightly.

"I'm so sorry.."She whispered.

"It's not your fault but theirs"..

The next day came and I didn't bother opening the book.

Hannah tried several things to put a smile on my face but it all were in vain.

After seeing her dedication I decided to come out of it.

After a week I decided to resume my job,on hearing this Hannah was delighted.

Zack kept on calling but I refused to answer the call,I wasn't ready to talk to him and needed space especially from him.

I walked into my office with smiles on my face as working was just the thing I needed to forget all what happened.

"Welcome back ma" my employees welcomed

"It's good to be back isn't it?" I asked smiling.

"So what's being happening?" I asked getting into the spirit of working.

"Gina send the documents and files to my office" I said smiling.

"Okay ma"

"I will be expecting them" I replied heading for my office.

"What are you doing here?" I asked angrily on seeing Zack.

"I knew you would be here".

"You haven't answered my question"

"I came here to explain"

"To explain what exactly? You sleeping with my best friend or how you have been betraying me without my knowledge. So tell me which is the reason? I'm listening" I replied heading for my seat.

"I didn't betray you.It's all a misunderstanding"

"Zack you lie really badly. Aren't you shameless? You still have the guts to lie bluntly to my face"

"I'm not lying.You just have to listen to me"

"And why should I? So you will continue brain washing me with your lies. It won't work if that's what you're doing"

"What you saw isn't the truth.I don't know what happened and how I got there all I know is I didn't betray you, I love you alot" Zack said

"If you are planning on selling a lie to me it's of no use I am not buying anything you say. You really are shameless. You still lying despite the fact that I saw the truth. "

"It's the truth. Please come home"

"That home isn't mine any longer. It's Jenny and yours just as you've always wanted"

"I never wanted that to happen"

"Well it did and it was so clear to see" I replied watching him stare at me.

"Please leave Zack" I said knowing if he stayed longer I would cry.

"I'm..."

"Leave!" I shouted interrupting him.

He watched me and walked out the door while I broke down in tears.

"Stop crying.. You need to be strong, he's your past now and he doesn't deserve you shedding tears for him"I told myself as I wiped my tears.

I stared at the files on my table and began working.

"Ma'am Finites company sent their representative and they want to fix a meeting with you"

Gina said as we went through the files.

"Okay fix a date next week then"

"Okay ma"

"Good. I think we are done for today then" I replied smiling.

"Yes we are"

"Then it's good night. See you tomorrow" I replied leaving the office.

I entered Into my car and drove home.I needed to forget everything as my work depends on it.

Zack and it was my only source of happiness apart from God of course and since Zack betrayed me I decided to stick to what won't which was my job.

I am a proud owner of my company which deals with importation and exportation of goods so I travel a lot to make some deals.

I drove into my new apartment which I had bought few days after the whole incident.

Hannah had helped me secure the house as she dealt in estate and housing.

Tired I took my bath and ate dinner, said my prayers and was about sleeping when I saw Zack's diary.

"I need to return this" I told myself.

I took it and it fell from my hand opening a page.

As I took it I read some of the words written on it.

"Dear diary,

Today indeed is a special day as I met the love of my life- Jenny...."

I couldn't read the rest of the words just those words hurt me deeply.

"So Jenny was the love of his life? What then was I?" I asked myself in tears.

That night I tried sleeping but I couldn't. Those words kept on repeating in my mind and it hurt really badly.

Days passed and it felt like years without Zack. I tried to stop thinking about him but I couldn't I mean he was the man I gave my heart and whole to completely only to find out he was lying to me all this while.

The next week came and I went for the meeting which was at a restaurant. Funny place to place a meeting I thought to myself as I stepped into the restaurant.

"Hi" A tall dark in complexion man greeted.

"Hi"I replied.

"You must be Gina" He asked smiling.

"Yes and you must be the representative of Finites company"

"Actually I'm the owner" He said smiling.

"Your confidence proves you're saying the truth"

"Beautiful and Intelligent, I like it" He complimented.

"Let's get to business shall we?" I asked taking a seat.

"Yes. But before that what would the fine lady want to have"

"Business, the reason we came here in the first place"

"Funny too" He replied and I smirked.

*Was he the owner of Finites Company or a clown?*

I asked myself observing him.

"Oh I'm so sorry I didn't introduce myself. I'm Dave"

He replied smiling.

"Dave, I'm flattered by your compliments but I hope you aren't forgetting the reason we came here"

"Not everything is about being serious" He replied and I wondered if he bought his way into being the owner or he was lying.

I stared at him for a while and stood to leave.

"When you are ready to bag a deal with my company, you know the right formalities to go through. Excuse me"I replied leaving.

I walked out of the restaurant wondering what that was all about.

I entered my car and tried starting it but it didn't work.

"What's with this car!" I exclaimed to myself angry.

*First that Clown, now this car. What's with today?*

I asked myself looking for a cab.

"Mind a lift?" I heard and I saw it was Dave.

"No, I'm fine"

"You don't seem fine and your car looks bad"

"I see that." I replied waving at a cab.

A cab finally stopped and just as I entered Dave followed put.

"What are you doing here?" I asked angrily.

"You didn't want to come with me so I came with you. Are you going to judge me for that?" He asked staring at me.

"And your car?"

"My driver is going to handle it" He replied smiling.

*So he's crazy too* I told myself as I stared at him.

"Driver please take me to Gowon Estate"

"Okay ma"The driver replied and drove off.

"Aren't you coming down?" I asked after a few minutes.

"No. I'm going where you are going."

"I'm going to an abateur"

"Why?"

"I have an animal beside me so I want to donate him"

"What animal?" He asked staring at me.

"He's staring at me"

"You mean me?"

"Obviously."

"You are joking right?"..

"Do I look like I'm joking?"

"Certainly not"

He replied and he finally kept mute.

I smiled knowing that would shut him up.

"So you smile?" He asked and I knew nothing was capable of shutting him up.

"Is it a crime to?" I asked angrily staring at him.

"No it's not, just that I haven't seen you smile"..

I stared at him and looked away.

The cab went through a gallop and as a result the car went up and then down making me fall on him.

I stared at him and he did the same.

"We are close" He said smiling.

"And you will be in pain" I replied stepping on him and he immediately let go of his grip on me.

"Ouch!"He screamed in pain.

"How close are we now?" I mocked.

"As close as I want" He replied and smiled.

"How?"

"You got to smile. That's enough"

"Just shut up" I replied and the driver stopped the cab.

I paid him and walked out of the cab heading home.

I could swear each time I turned I could see that Clown. He was following me.

I smiled mischievously to myself as I planned on getting him lost.

I turned and saw him coming so I went through another street and he followed put.

When he wasn't looking I went through another street and went home.

I smiled to myself knowing I had gotten rid of him.

After opening my door, I did my usual routine of checking the windows to my dismay he was standing right on my doorstep.

"Is anyone here?" He called out repeatedly but I ignored his call.

He kept on knocking but I refused to answer. To my surprise he pulled open the door and entered.

"What's wrong with you? This trespassing I will sue you for that"

I replied .

"So you live here?" He asked staring at my house.

"Yes.What's wrong with it?"

"Nothing. I got lost while trying to find your house"

"Lucky you, you found it now leave" I said staring at him.

"Gina..."

"You heard me. Leave else I will call the police"

"Okay. I will wait"

"You are really crazy!!" I screamed in anger.

"Crazy for your attention"

"Calling the police won't help, a mental hospital will do" I said and he smiled.

"Welcome me would you?" He replied taking a seat.

"Crazy!!!" I said walking away heading inside my room.

I took my phone and dialed Hannah's number.

Her phone kept ringing but still no reply.

I walked into the living room only to find Dave staring at my pictures.

"You are not only crazy but also a pervert too"

I remarked angrily.

"You look extremely beautiful in this picture and happy too" He replied smiling at me.

"Why won't you leave?" I asked staring at him.

"You haven't smiled. I guess it's my duty to bring back the smile on your beautiful face"

"Will you just stop it and leave my house" I said opening the door.

"Okay but mind you I will be back"

"And you will end up in prison"

"A risk I'm willing to make"

He replied leaving.

I stared at him and locked the door.

"Crazy and annoying" I remarked angrily to myself...

The next day came and it was a Saturday.Since I wasn't going to work today I decided to visit Hannah at her office.

I drove to her office with smiles on my face,as I drove I remembered my encounter with that Clown and I laughed to myself knowing he would probably stay off me now.

"Hey Hannah" I said hugging her on reaching her office.

"Gina! I've missed you" She replied as we hugged.

"So how's everything?" I asked her as I sat down.

"Fine. Everything's fine and you?"

"I'm good so far. I tried calling you yesterday but you didn't answer my calls"

"I'm really sorry about that. I left my phone with a colleague that's why. Why were you calling me?"

"You won't believe a client followed me home".

"What! He must be crazy to have done that"

"Truly crazy. "I said and we heard a knock.

"The door is open" Came Hannah and to my biggest surprise Dave walked in.

"Are you stalking me?" I asked staring at him.

"You know him?" Hannah asked staring at me.

"He was the crazy person I told you about"

"I see you have done my introduction. Well I am not stalking you I'm just as surprised as you are to see you here. I came to buy a house" Dave said smiling.

I stared at him and then at Hannah who confirmed it by nodding.

I kept mute immediately.

"So shall we?" He asked Hannah who led the way out.He stared at me and smiled.

"It's not bad seeing you here. If I knew buying a house would make me see you more often I would have bought more" He replied smiling.

He winked at me before leaving.

For the first time I was speechless.

*No I need to teach him a lesson. I hate his ego* I told myself bringing out my phone.

After a few minutes Hannah returned smiling.

"Guess what"

"What?" I Inquired.

"He bought the house. He's moving in next week"

"That's nice" I told her smiling.

"So what happened between you two?"

I began narrating everything to her and she smiled all through.

"I think he likes you"

"If he does he is wasting his time"

"Why? You and Zack are about to get separated"

I stared at her and replied.

"Zack is still a part of my life and a stranger isn't going to change that"

"Are you planning on being with Zack?"

"I didn't say that. He hurt me a lot but for now I think it's best I read Zack's diary"

"What do you mean?"

"The day I left his house I found his diary and took it with me"

"You still haven't read it yet?"

"I did. A page actually and he was talking about how he loved Jenny and you know it hurts me"

"That's why I want you to move on"

"Moving on with Dave isn't an option for me to be happy. I don't feel anything for him and I will never"

"Time will tell"

"I and Zack are still married. Don't forget that"

"I haven't..When do you plan on reading the diary?"

"As soon as I get home"

"Okay.. You tell me the details" She replied and I smiled.

"I love you. You know that?"

"No.."

"Well I do" I replied hugging her tight..

I stayed longer till we both had lunch.

I left for home around four in the evening.

Tired I retired to my bed...

I opened my drawer and brought out Zack's diary, staring at it I wondered if I was ready for the outcome.

As I was about opening it my phone rang..

I checked it and it was an unknown number.

*Who could this be?*

"Hello who's this?"

I inquired

"Someone who can't get you off his mind" A farmiliar voice said.

"And you are?"

"Open your window look at the neighbor next door" The voice said.

I opened my window and to my dismay it was Dave.

"Who's house did you steal?"

"My house"

"So you bought a house next to mine"

"Why not? I want us as close as ever"

"You never seem to stop being crazy"

"If loving you was being crazy then I rather remain crazy"

"I see" I replied and ended the call.

My phone rang again and I saw an unknown number of course I didn't answer the call.

I took Zack's diary and was about reading when I heard a stone on my window.

"You have got to be kidding me" I said opening it and seeing Dave on a ladder to my room.

"Hey"

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

"You tell me.. You are the reason I'm like this"

"I didn't make you crazy"

"Everything about you drives me crazy"

"Then you won't mind me calling the psychiatrist because you need help"

"You don't have to call her I'm with my cure"

I stared at him and he held me close.

"Why don't you feel what I feel"

"Simple you are crazy" I replied closing my window..

I laughed watching him stare at me surprised...

I closed the windows with the curtains and went to bed opening Zack's diary.

"Dear Diary,

Today being Tuesday I met her.. She's really one of a kind she looks so beautiful..

I can't believe I'm falling for her..

I wish she notices me"

*I opened the next chapter to know who he was talking about..*

"Dear diary,

I met her and finally had the courage to talk to her.

I got to know her name..

She's Jenny..

The love of my life"

*So Jenny was the love of his life?*

*Why didn't he tell me?*

I opened the next page..

"Dear diary,

Jenny feels the same way about me and has agreed to be my girlfriend. I love her so much and I thank God for bringing her into my life"

*If he loved her so much why was I included in this chapter?Why then did he marry me?* I asked myself In tears.

I dropped the diary and cried myself to sleep.

"Morning sunshine" I heard and I woke up.

"Good morning love." I replied and he kissed me lovingly on the cheek.

"You made breakfast" I said smiling.

"Yes I didn't want to bother you that's why"

"You are such a loving husband, I'm lucky to have you"

"So that means I deserve a kiss"

"Of course" I replied kissing Zack lovingly.

I woke up immediately in tears..

*If you loved me why did you go back to Jenny?*

I checked my phone and saw it was morning..

With all the strength I could gather I went into the bathroom, took my bath and prepared for church.

I locked my door only to see the shock of my life...

"Morning Gina"

Dave greeted..

I stared at him and walked away..

He followed me..

"Don't you have where you need to be at?"

"I'm here already"

"I don't get you"

"What's not to get?"

"You. Everything about you"

"What do you mean Gina?"

"You went to buy a house close to mine and now you follow me about. Tell me who paid you to be my bodyguard"

"Gina I wasn't in anyway paid to be with you..I truly love spending time with you"

"You don't even know me"

"I do actually. For a long time just that you haven't noticed me"

"Long time? What do you mean?"

"I knew you through a friend but then I had to travel overseas and when I came back I tried looking for you but I was unsuccessful until one day I got to know of your company and so I fixed a meeting with you and that's how we met..I can't lose you again that's why I follow you about"

Dave said smiling..

" Nice story, try selling to someone who's willing to buy it because you are not fooling anyone" I replied walking away.

"Gina why can't you believe me? Why is it hard for you too?" Dave asked running after me.

He ran close to me and made me face him..

"You want an answer right?"

"Yes"

"If I answer please leave me alone"

"I can't promise that Gina"

"I hate you. I hate all men, you all disgust me..First you come with pretence to love only to stab someone in the heart.."

I said and watched him keep quiet.

"You've gotten your answer so leave. If I ever see you this close to me I will sue you for harrassment"I said walking into the church.

I walked into the church and sat on a chair in the front seat, I realized I was early to church and the choirs were about to sing praise and worship....

I stood up and sang along and I realized it's been a while since I had being in church.

I had distanced myself from God and everyone because of my marriage...Zack had in no way loved coming to church so in order to avoid troubles I too stayed away from church and everything godly and this really affected me..

I smiled as I sang along knowing that being away from Zack would help me strengthen a lot of things in my life especially my relationship with God.

As I sang, I turned only to see Dave at the other side of the church also singing..

I stared at him and looked away knowing fully well I didn't have the right to stop him from worshipping God.

The pastor mounted the pulpit and preached about marital barrenness..

"Marital barrenness isn't only about having children, being barren means inability to produce or being fertile.

Marital barrenness occurs in different ways, it can be spiritual this often happens whereby a Christian's prayer life would reduce and so will his or her relationship with God. Spiritually that marriage is barren.

And then the physical aspect, this has to with one's personal relationship with his or her partner..Yes it's normal for couples to fight but finding it hard to apologise and also forgive is known as physical barrenness."

As the pastor spoke I felt like he was speaking to me directly, each word seemed to be piercing it's way into my heart..

"Zack and my relationship was barren?"

"Lord how do I fix this?"...

After the service was over..

I walked out of the church heading home.

"Gina.."

I turned expecting to see Dave again but rather it was Zack..

"What do you want Zack?"

"Can we talk?"

"What do we have to talk about?"

"Us...our relationship"

"That died the moment you cheated on me"

"I didn't cheat on you Gina"

"Will you stop with the lies? I saw the texts, your call history and even caught you in bed with Jenny and you tell me you never cheated.. Isn't that the definition of cheating?"

"Yes.. There were calls and texts too but you didn't read it all.."

I stared at him and then at Jenny who was heading towards us..

"Love, why did you leave me all alone in the car. I was waiting for you for a long time" Jenny said kissing Zack on the lips..

"And this? I misunderstood this too"

I replied staring at him..

"What you are seeing is real..Get used to seeing it Gina. Zack's mine and has always being and you an obstacle in our relationship"

Jenny said hurting me even more..

"You both deserve each other. I hope you are happy"

I replied walking away knowing fully well if I stayed longer I would end up crying..

I walked out of there heading for home..

As I walked, tears flowed down my eyes..

I didn't see the rock on the ground so I slipped and...

" Be careful"

I stared at him..

"Than..thanks"

"That's new"

"What is?"

"You just thanked me"

"You saved me"

"I'm glad I did"

"Why?"

"I don't want you hurt.."

"No why are you still here?"

"I care about you"

"Even after what I told you, you still saved me"

"I understand you don't want me close but I can't bear to see you in pain that's why I'm here".

I stared at him and his eyes were captivating,As I stared I wondered why he was still here, a thought reminded me I was still married.

"Can you?"

I asked staring at his arms around my waist.

"Can I?"

He asked still staring at me.

"Remove your hand from my waist"

"Ooh sorry"

He replied lifting me up.

"I will be on my way now"

He said smiling.

I stared at him and watched him leave.

*Why was I just seeing this part of Dave?*

I asked myself heading home.

The next day came..

I walked out of the house remembering I haven't fixed the car yet.

*Oh God what am I to do now?*

I thought out loud to myself.

"Morning Gina"

"Dave.."

I called out loud relieved that he was here.
