Chapter 1 A wild night
Claire's pov
Having to manage five different part time jobs is not easy at all. I walked into the coffee shop which my fifth and final job for the day.
"Claire you're late again!"my boss,Mrs Madonna said immediately she saw me.
"Am very sorry ma'am,i got in the traffic..." i tried to apologize but she cuts me off instantly
"Look if you don't need the job, just tell me and i'll gladly give it to someone else"Mrs Madonna said and walked away furiously. I let out a sigh of frustration as i watched her leave.
"Why does she hates you this much?"bella a colleague asked
"I don't even know..."i picked up my t-shirt and got ready to start taking orders.
"Claire take two cups of American cappuccino to table 10" Sonia our head waitress said and i quickly poured out the cappuccinos, arranged them in a tray and took them over to table ten.
The two ladies who occupied the table were busy chit-chatting when i arrived
"Good evening madams" I greeted with a slight bow.
"Good evening dear"one of the ladies answered with a smile while other completely ignored me,her eyes were fixed on her phone. I served them,did my usual bowing and was about leaving when a voice stopped me
"Wait there service girl! Did i order for cappuccino?"the second lady asked rudely
"Come Patricia you did order for cappuccino" the first lady said and the other rolled her eyes
"I don't need it any longer, just get me a cup of mocha"she said and my brows furrowed
"So what's going to happen to the cappuccino?"I asked as calmly as i could because i was already burning up
"Are you seriously asking me that?"she asked angrily.
"Yes..."i answered
"What!"she stood up angrily and the other lady also stood up trying to calm her down. By now,all eyes were on us
"How can you order for cappuccino and change your mind all of a sudden?"i asked
"Are you sick? Do you realize am a customer and that you're suppose to carry out my orders huh? I ordered for cappuccino but my cravings changed so i want mocha,is that simple request hard for you to carry out?"she asked
"And i asked what's going to happen to the cappuccino, that's all"i fired back
"You still have the nerves to talk back at me you lousy piece of trash "she said and her palm landed on my face.
"What's going on here?"Mrs Madonna suddenly rushed into the scene
"Ma'am this lady..."
"Shut up you idiot"Mrs Madonna yelled at me and i kept quiet
"Madam Patricia please am sorry for this"Mrs Madonna apologized...do they know each other?
"Madonna or mad owner whatever your name is! Is this how you train your staffs to behave towards customers?"the patricia lady asked
"Come on you started it "the other lady tried to say but Patricia hushed her rudely
"Madonna here's what will happen. Fire her or i'll write a bad review against your little coffee shop"Patricia said. I wanted to speak up but bella closed my mouth with her palm
"If you say one more word,this situation will get worst"bella warned.
"Choose one now, you have just Three seconds to make up your mind"Patricia said
"Claire you're fired"Mrs Madonna said
"What it's not my fault"i said but she hushed me
"Get yourself out of this place now!"Mrs Madonna fired at me angrily and i nodded. I walked to the counter, took my bag,changed my clothes and walked out.
"Go get another job church rat"Patricia smiled triumphantly as she washed me walk out.
"Bitch!"i muttered angrily.
"Claire!"someone called my name and i turned to see bella running towards me.
"Seems like you want to get fired too"i joked
"Ohhh... can't believe you're still bad mouthed even after loosing your job"bella said
"Whatever..."i rolled my eyes.
"Do you have any idea that lady is?"bella asked and i shook my head
"No wonder,if you knew you wouldn't have dared talking back at her"she said
"No matter who and what she is, she should learn to respect people"I said and Bella smacked my head
"Claire you're sick! That's the fiancee of Korea's richest and hottest artist LEO FANGIO,her name's PATRICIA RICARDO and she's also the daughter of our present deputy minister of social affairs plus, she's a popular model... Gosh! I envy her fame"bella said
"No wonder she's rude"i scoffed
"So what are you going to do now?"she asked
"I'll have to start job haunting again"i said tiredly and her mouth suddenly made the 'oh' shape like just remembered something.
"You should check out the tteokbokki shop on the next street. On my way coming to work this morning,i saw their job vacancy notice board outside"she said and i smiled
"Oh i'll check it out then" I answered and she smiled at me
"Bye..."she hurried into the shop and i went my way.
This world can be very unfair and cruel to poor people,it really pisses me off big time.
On getting to my neighborhood, our neighbors kept asking me why i came home early because they all know that it normally gets to midnight before i return from work. I couldn't answer them so i just smiled and waved. Everyone in this neighborhood is just like me,poor, helpless but mostly independent and we're good fighters over here. I entered our little one room apartment that was shared into two using a worn out bedsheet. I walked into the room section and found my mom folding her clothes into a little old bag and my baby sister who's about 16 years old was seated beside her.
"Claire!"my baby sister suddenly rushed into my arms as i entered the room.
"How're you doing?"i asked her
"Am fine...mom"i smiled walking to my mom. She couldn't walk as she's crippled and moves with the aid of a wheelchair.
"Baby you came home earlier than i expected"she said and i nodded
"The sales today went well so we closed early today" I lied. I don't want her to worry herself because of me any longer.
"Oh... that's good"she smiled
"How was school today summer?" I asked my baby sister
"It was fine"she said
"Ok i'll go have my bath ok" I said and walked out.
*NEXT DAY*
LEO'S POV
I entered my office and sat majestically on my swivel chair. My manager entered not long after
"Leo you should meet with the people from Taylor's gallery. They're willing to buy both paintings at the rate of 5 million wons"Mr Anderson said and i scoffed
"I'm not selling those paintings at such a cheap rate. If tylor claims to be freaking rich then he should be able to buy the paintings at the rate of 10 million wons...am not going back to this topic"i said in a note of finality as I took out a cigarette and light it up.
"You shouldn't be doing that in your office Leo"Anderson said and i rolled my eyes
"Did Tricia pay you a visit yesterday?"Anderson added
"Yes, she went out with Loretta and they both returned home together".
"You had a wild night i guess"he smiled and i smirked.
