Chapter 1 The Meeting

A young teenage girl, Tracy Billingham, finally put an end to her untold suffering and pain working night shifts at a place she never liked. She works there as a sales girl doing all sorts of chores with bad pay by the end of the month, even though the pay didn't always cut her bills, "it is better than nothing", she always says.

The night suddenly came to an abrupt end when a slap the sound of thunder landed on the face of one of the customers she was attending to, at first everyone was shocked at the slap and on whose face she had landed the slap, while the big man stood still wondering about the impetus for such a girl to slap a man like himself, he became trapped in the loop, confused between what to do and what not to do, his big eyes suddenly became bigger and anyone could see the amount of anger that this huge man had to conceal like one trying to prevent a pressed disaster waiting to occur, the anger radiates from this man, but worst stood there in the face of this man like the Thanksgiving chicken waiting for the slaughter, she didn't move and she didn't care for the worst that could happen. This is not the first time that she got into a fight with a customer, there was a day, this particular day, unlike this one, it was during the day, a customer had come into the place with his group of friends, young boy, they look within the same age bracket just like Tracy, these boys might be of the same age with these boys but knew she was not in their level, and even though they were decently dressed all of them, they all look like they were coming from a funeral service or something and so they decided to stop by and grab something to eat, Tracy was the person to attend to them, she was polite to the gentlemen and then she began taking their orders, of course, they all looked like the good guys until they suddenly began to act like they've lost their minds, suddenly they began to jump all over the place, while Tracy was still trying to take their orders, and just like that, one of them went straight for the jugular by grabbing Tracy's buttock. The madness, that most men can not just look at Tracy and simply look away without getting lost in her physical features, is sometimes a drama that many of us entertain ourselves with while working at this boring place. Although Mr. Henry the manager, didn't take things lightly as he didn't hesitate to not show her any mercy this time around before firing her, anyone could see that it wasn't Tracy's fault but the customer who came to a business area and could not keep his hands to himself and instead decided to disrespect the young sales girl by hitting her on her buttocks.

Annoying, that Mr. Henry the manager did not see anything wrong with the ugly attitude or act from this very man, everyone in the Diner knew what the man did was wrong, because we all saw it, yet the manager insisted otherwise as he blamed Tracy for the entire incident; that was not fair, but could it be that this was a rebound from the last time he made a move similar to this act or even worst sometimes ago at his office, when Tracy was invited in the middle of work and the manager began to act funny around her and then grabbed her by the wrist and tried to pull her close to himself forcefully, what saved the young lady that day was a knock on the door and her threat to scream that eventually made her to escape his grip, even though other workers saw Tracy as she ran quickly from the manager's office with her dress looking rumpled and with tears in her eyes, no one could say anything, her friend Jenny and other female colleague knew what had happened which may have happened to all the girls there, Mr. Henry returned later on to apologise about his actions and blamed it solely on his wife. This might just be another opportunity to get back at her since he didn't succeed in his last attempt, the last time he tried, ironic that someone like him claimed to believe that, rules are rules, stated it on the writeup on thee doorway to his office, which says " strike 1 you get a warning, strike 2 you are done" this was Tracy's third strike, the manager's pretence to believes in the popular saying that "customers are always right", which obviously means customer above all, well, Mr. Henry is not a gentleman himself and he believes that once you work for him he can do anything he wants with you, after all, he put food on our tables, but rumour has it that he may have slept with every girl In the Diner, he has no respect for his workers especially the female ones, he sees us more or less like sex objects, he will often deceive us to coming into his bed for position and money, the over-ambitious ones have all fallen prey to his dirty plays, how he treats them all like shits is not a good sight to behold. On the night Tracy had slapped the customer, Mr. Henry had dashed out of his office like someone chased by the bees to the marketplace, he ran and immediately apologized to the customer and quickly blamed Tracy for everything and pleaded to compensate the customer for whatever trouble his workers may have caused and afterward he decided to humiliate Tracy by asking her to pack up her things and leave the premises never to return. Tracy slapped the customer he claimed it was on that note that he was firing Tracy since he had warned her before, but who would blame Tracy for always standing her ground whenever boys or men tried to advantage of her or touch her in certain ways she would never approve of, the last fight she had before this one was a bit nasty, it began also with a customer who decided to grab her butt chick, Tracy didn't hesitate to give a dirty slap, and not only that but the boy went away with a broken head from one of the empty bottles standing in front of customers who never had the opportunity to enjoy the final sip of a cold beer, The bottle became the right weapon in the strong hand of Tracy, it looked on that day like something else took over Tracy as she didn't hesitate to make use of the empty bottle on the head of the customer who decided to be a jerk, the fellow had a lesson he won't forget in a hurry, it didn't take so long and now this one. Many customers since the last time know this for the fact that Tracy is the type of girl that no one should mess around with, she is not the type that backs down from any fight she embraces it, and of course, she won't look for trouble but, whenever trouble comes knocking she is always more than available to oblige. Tracy knew she had been involved in other fights in the past.

Tracy may have just worked for eight months, two weeks, and three days and five hours. In the past eight months the manager has visited the police more times than ever since Tracy began working there, Tracy knew this time she would have to leave, and the management had warned her before and given her a last warning. Tracy was already tired and so she owes no one any apology for her great body they said she got it all from her mother, along with her charming face and smile, it is said that no one looks at Tracy that won't look again, part of the reasons why Mr. Henry the manager will not keep his finger to himself sometimes, the other girls have been talking about how Mr. Henry has been making all manner of passes but she has refused and so this has made him constantly angry with Tracy. No one was surprised when he fired the young lady,

It may not appear as a surprise to anyone at the Diner, and even though Tracy is one of the strongest hands they have at the Diner and all the other workers know about her struggles of late, how she is been having issues lately with the Boss back to back, even at that, no one knew her leaving will be so sudden, everyone knows that Tracy didn't fancy the job anyway as it looks somehow like somewhere inside of her something kept on telling her that she deserves more or maybe she just doesn't fit in, where one work is supposed to bring one happiness and satisfaction but everyone could almost see through Tracy that working at the Diner doesn't fit her. Maybe if she worked at the bank or at a more classical, fancier restaurant where she would find other women of her kind, Tracy seems to be too hot for a place like this Diner, the worry around the place is that one day God forbid Tracy could set the entire place in flames because of her unrepentant hot beauty.

Sometimes I believe that most of the customers that come into the Diner, often come just to have a look at Tracy's butt, especially the Island boys from the west side of the town, most times we would find customers, the male customers keeping her on their tables longer than necessary just to catch a glimpse of her backside every time she turns around and walks to the kitchen. While other men would look at her and only God knows what's going on in their minds, while for others you find their wives feeling embarrassed to the point where they have to drag their husbands from Tracy's spell. I don't blame any customer for feeling that way, it's not their fault and neither is it the fault of Tracy for having such a beautifully carved body, it's the reason why most of the male workers come to work too early sometimes. There is something about her and her looks and the ways that young lady carries herself, when she walks, one will think she was some kind of a model who became tired of the runways and decided to just retire in her prime and hide just to keep a low profile in a small town.

Most people work at a place they are never happy. My opinion is that people should work at places or jobs they are comfortable with; there is no way anyone can ever be happy at a job they are not happy with.

Tracy is one person that hated her job, I have never seen her happy, probably because of the way everyone picks at her because of her looks, or because of her curves, she has her reasons for working at the Diner, the only motivation or reason why she ever thought to work there in the first place was for the money, always the money, money makes people do some crazy things including sacrificing their happiness. Nearly eighty-five percent of working-class people work at a job they are not happy or satisfied with and why is that ? " because we are all working for the money". This is why we all burn over 6-7 hours a day slaving at a job that we are barely happy with; just for the money, to make ends meet.

Tracy….. it's not her fault that she is the way that she is, she is just an unfortunate soul just passing through the grey areas of life, her beauty is the kind one will hardly come by; it strikes at an instance, and like any of us with no profound education or good parenting to help put us in the right path or system but, we must survive from every crumb that is thrown at us from the master's table, crazy how crumbs must first rub on the floor before it gets in our plate but life is what you make of it.

Crazy how Tracy has always had it tough with life, she is been through a series of foster houses and she ran from all of them long before she became thirteen, the first in foster care, she was just 11 then, all of them had their troubles until the streets decided to house her ever since, the street has done a good job, I mean judging by how she turned out.

Not many people would think that growing up on the streets would have made her so loose but instead, it made her strong, she indeed looked long enough into the abyss of life and found light, after all, life is also about the choices we make. After her mother's death, Tracy's life began, she was taken to foster care, and her mother had made her promise that she will go to foster care and stay but she broke the promise she made to her dying mother on that day, with the things she saw she could never have stayed and endured such a horrendously hopeless life, where every meal is more or less a privilege one must kiss boots to get, she ran and never stopped. She ran and never looked back, ever since she made the streets her father and mother she has become a fine shining armor. Her mother's thought was that Hopefully, maybe someone from a decent family would find her to help her. Of course, she had a family that carried her once but it didn't end well for them, she left because the family suddenly became something else, they changed too quickly to Tracy and this made Tracy afraid.

Tracy's mother's life was a complete tragedy, her death was devastating, and it was an epic series of suffering that eventually led to her untimely death. Her husband never forgave her and she never forgave herself too for the death of Kaleb, their son; Tracy's kid brother. Her husband would sit every day beside the grave of Kaleb, crying, and would not stop. My father had gotten married to my mother, both of them from the same neighborhood, and my mother was a teacher at a school not far from where my parents both lived after their marriage.

My father was an investment banker who wanted his wife to give birth to another child after me, they waited for ages before Kaleb eventually came, between Kaleb and I was a gap of 9 years between us, my mother would say that my father would stay up all night praying that her next child is a boy, he wanted a boy so much since he already had me, then eventually God gave them what they wanted. Sometimes what you wanted the most can sometimes bring doom upon one.

The best gift brought an end to both of my parents. My father didn't want anything more than a boy, and he got it but death took him away along with everyone that ever loved it, Kaleb took everything from me. After Kaleb's death, I would often see my mother crying.

I heard nothing is as painful as a woman whose son died. My mother never got over her son's death and that of her husband. She would cry all through the night, and each time she looked through the kitchen window and found the kids from the neighborhoods playing outside the playground, she would cry again over the death of Kaleb and her husband.

The more I told her it was not her fault the more she cried, the more the priest talked to her the sadder she became. Since the death of Kaleb and his father, I could count the number of times that I saw my mother laugh. There was this one time I saw her laugh and it was the pictures of her husband that she saw that brought back some good memories that made her laugh, it's the only time I saw her laugh since the incident.

There were times I saw her, she didn't know that I was standing there by the corner at a wall that separates the living room from the kitchen. I could see her looking through the window. I knew what she was looking at, I knew for sure that whatever it was that she was looking at only brought back bad memories. Mother didn't forgive herself and she blamed herself for the death of her husband, my father, and her son Kaleb.

On her dying bed in the same hospital where her husband laid three years ago, looking at her mother and what she had become, wondering at what stress and anxiety have eventually turned her to, her eyes were dark and hollow, dim and she almost looked like a ghost. Sometimes death is the only thing that will settle all that concerns mother's health issues, she was already halfway gone, and watching how bit by bit as memories and guilt stole my mother away is never a good scene to behold, my mother could hardly sleep at night and her constant thinking made it worst, I warned her severally that she would think herself to death, but she wouldn't listen or let go of the guilt, she was far into the realm and she had nothing else to live for as if I was not worth it. What eventually made it worst was their father dying without saying a word to her, he didn't even want to see her near him, and this broke her into a million pieces.

The doctor had said that her condition was due to her lifestyle, she became an alcoholic just like her husband, she never sleeps at night, she was constantly awake and every time I would ask her why, she would say " Tracy I see them" my child, your brother and your father as they call to me, he calls to me and she was always scared to sleep because of all kinds of nightmares, so her blood pressure was constantly high, then it became worst when the blood pressures triggered her to go into heart failure, the last word she said to me was when she looked at me in the eyes and said, "this is my life and could never be dared to live it but, this is your life Tracy make sure you live it your way".

"They say money can give you anything you want in this world". There is so much suffering in this world " but Tracy has seen enough suffering for a lifetime ". Money is the reason why she works and nothing more, if it's not about working and getting paid then she is not talking, it was only a matter of time before you work for someone like Mr. Henry, such a fine name but I bet you, he is the most disgusting old man I ever saw. Tracy's boss was nothing but a terrible, terrible fellow who has been nothing but a pain in the life of Tracy, a pervert that takes advantage of all the ladies that ever worked under him at the Diner, except for tray.

Mr. Henry is gutted a fat fuck face, at work everyone calls him "Mr. F. Face, he thought the " F" stands for 'Fine' perhaps a comment, but little did he know that the "F" before the "face" stands for "fuck", Mr.Henry is got such a huge moon face with a disgusting mustache that dances up and down the entire place as long as he's talking, especially when he is arguing about the country's politics with some of the old customers who come around because there is nowhere else to go and chill in West Plateau city.
