I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. In the luxurious five star hotel suite, Lin Wen Xin fixes her earrings as she looked at herself in the full-length mirror. Tonight, she is wearing a designer’s champagne off-shoulder gown made of silk, that accentuates her perfect figure.

Lin Wen Xin is a beautiful woman, born with elegant and distinctive features. There were countless of men chasing her, but she has never accepted any one of them. She would always remember the promise that her first love made to her in high school, “Wait for me, you will be the only girl that I will marry!”

They promised to stay in contact when the boy had to leave the country to pursue his studies overseas. Lin Wen Xin had never forgotten the meticulous love and care that the boy had given to her. She vowed in her heart that she would only want to marry him.

Many years have passed, she has since graduated from university and has just started her work as a fashion designer in her family’s company. However, the boy has never contacted her. She had tried searching for him, but was unable to find any information about this boy. It felt as though her high school love was just a dream.

Even though her family is not the wealthiest, it is said that the Lin Family is still one of the most prestigious families in the country. The Lin Corporation has dominated the fashion industry for tens of decades, and remains as a domestically renowned company.

Lin Wen Xin had previously rejected Lin Gao Hai’s wishes of marrying this man on multiple occasions. The reason is simple, she just wanted to wait for her first love to come back. She loves the boy with all her heart and she trust that the boy would come back and marry her.

However, she knows that her father’s health is deteriorating, and so she decided to fulfil his last wish. Lin Gao Hai also wishes for her future husband to help Lin Wen Xin in managing the Lin Corporation since Lin Wen Xin has no experience and interest in doing so.

“I’m sorry to break our promise. I sincerely hope that you will be able to find a girl you love.” Lin Wen Xin said to herself with teary eyes. She walked out of her hotel room, and left towards the ballroom with a heavy and regretful heart.

Lin Wen Xin elegantly held on to her long dress as she continuously step on the marble finishing of the grand hotel lobby. She smiled and nodded at the staffs who greeted her politely as she walked by.

As she was walking towards the grand ballroom, she saw a familiar face that flashed by. Her heart stopped at that instant. “Is that him?”

Lin Wen Xin walked quickly in the direction that the man has left. Unfortunately, she has lost him in the crowd.
