Chapter 1 UNVEILING SHADOWS

Four victims have been murdered, and nobody knows who did it or why. Even the police are clueless. What's even more mysterious is that all the victims died in the same way. We're all on the edge of our seats, waiting for the case to be solved!

it's like the world is always quick to judge without knowing the whole truth. All you have to do is play the victim card, and suddenly you're seen as innocent even if you're the one at fault. It's really frustrating to see the true victims being overlooked. I'm so tired of living in this kind of life, where the rich can get away with anything while the poor suffer for things they didn't even do. It's just not fair. And what's even worse is that the younger generation is starting to imitate these actions. Something definitely needs to be done to change this corrupt world we live in.

In a dark room, only a mysterious figure could be seen in front of a camera.Hey guys, I'm Alex. I want to share my life story with you. My childhood wasn't enjoyable at all. My dad worked as a taxi driver and my mom was a stay-at-home mom. Unfortunately, both my mom and I have been victims of domestic violence for as long as I can remember. It was so bad that I would go to school with swollen eyes and broken legs. The teachers and principal turned a blind eye, and even my mom would try to cover up the abuse with makeup, thinking my dad would change. But everything changed when a new teacher came along. She didn't ignore the situation like everyone else. She helped me, even though I was hesitant at first. In my mind, I felt a glimmer of hope that I could escape this miserable life, but little did I know that my mom would lead me into an even bigger misery.

I remember her name was Ruth. She was a really sweet and nice teacher. She always tried to get me to talk about my injuries, but I would always turn her down.

Then one day, things got really bad at home when my mom was hurt by my dad. I got so scared that I ran to my teacher's house. I knew where she lived because it was just five blocks away from school.

When I got to her house, I told her everything that happened at home every single day, really fast. Then we rushed back to my house. Surprisingly, my dad wasn't there, but that wasn't the problem. I was so scared when I saw my mom lying on the floor unconscious. I imagined the worst and couldn't breathe. Just the thought of losing my mom scared me so much.

My teacher calmed me down and told me to get help from someone. It was hard to find help these days, but luckily, I found someone who did help us. I'll always be grateful to that man. He not only drove us to the hospital in his car, but he also helped with the bill. Later, we found out that my mom was okay, but she had a serious injury. If we had arrived even a minute later, she could have lost her life. I was really angry at my dad, but even more upset with my mom for letting this happen.

A few minutes later, I could hear the doctor, my teacher, and the man who helped us talking about me and my mom's case of abuse. Not long after, my dad came in crying, saying he heard what happened to his wife. But I knew him better than anyone else. I knew he was pretending, but I didn't say anything. I was boiling with anger inside. Both the man and Miss Ruth took my dad outside the room to talk. I was so curious about what they were discussing, but I couldn't hear.

I was so curious about what they were talking about, but I couldn't leave my mom alone, so I stayed and watched over her. From inside the room, I heard my dad shouting and arguing at the top of his voice. He was told to get a lawyer because they were going to settle the matter in court. Eventually, my dad was thrown out of the hospital. Right after that, my mom woke up looking confused and worried about her surroundings and the two unfamiliar people in the room. I reassured her and explained everything that had happened. That's when the man and Miss Ruth introduced themselves to her, and I found out that he was a lawyer.

The lawyer told my mom that he was ready to help us get justice and make sure that man pays for his wrongdoings. At first, my mom disagreed, but I begged her to agree for the sake of her son. After thinking it over for a couple of minutes, she finally agreed. I'm not exactly sure how the lawyer did it, but he managed to gather all the evidence needed for the case. During the first trial, it became clear that my dad knew he couldn't win, so he tried to manipulate my mom into dropping the case. I knew my mom had a kind heart, so I spoke up and said no. I could tell at that moment that my dad was furious and even wanted to harm me because we were outside the court. Thank goodness we're no longer living with him, all thanks to the lawyer.

After going through all the ups and downs, we actually won the case! My dad got so angry that he even tried to attack his lawyer, but the police intervened and kept them apart. It was definitely a rollercoaster, but we made it through.

Well, my dad ended up in prison, and it wasn't easy for my mom and me during the whole process of putting him behind bars. But we did it! I was so glad that we were able to get rid of our misery and move forward. My mom got a job, and I finally got to start attending school like a normal student, without any injuries. It felt like heaven during those times, and I guess that was the only time I was truly happy in my childhood. But then something unexpected happened. My mom received a call from the prison, and we found out that my dad had passed away. It was officially ruled as a suicide, but my mom and I knew deep down that it was actually a murder. However, because of the ill treatment we had endured from him, we turned a blind eye and pretended like fools.

So, it turns out that when my dad was free, he actually worked with this criminal organization. They were making mad money from some illegal stuff they were doing. But here's the messed up part: because my dad is so greedy, he ended up snitching on the whole crew to the police! Can you believe it? They all got locked up, and my dad was left with all the cash, but he blew it on partying and stuff. So, in the end, the money became useless to us. And get this, they were all gonna be stuck in the same cell! It's like fate or something, you know? Some people might say it's God's will. Either way, it's a pretty wild situation.

I think I was around 8 years old at the time. We performed our last rites for him, even though he never honored us. We did it as a symbol of our freedom and peace.

After this, my mom made a decision that would change our lives, or should I say, my life, in ways I never could have imagined. Our life was going smoothly at first, and everything was much easier for my mom and me. We were happy with our simple life. But then things started going bad at my mom's work. Male customers found out about my dad's death and tried to manipulate my mom into being with them. They said she needed a man in her life to provide and protect us, and to raise me properly. I was so angry and frustrated during this time because I couldn't help my mom in any way. I blamed myself every day for not being able to protect her.

The worst part was that many of these men were married, and their wives would come and accuse my mom of things. It left a stain on our life, even though my mom tried her best to defend herself. The society judged her without any investigation.

It was heartbreaking to see my mom cry every day because of them. Everywhere we went, people would look and talk about us. Even at school, the teachers indirectly insulted me, and the kids would directly insult both me and my mom, imitating what they heard from their parents. The teachers pretended to warn them, but I could feel that they were laughing about it. I even got into a fight with a kid over this, but I was the one accused as the perpetrator. I think all of this led my mom to make the difficult decision for us to relocate. I was scared about what was next, but I still hoped for the best.
