Since she was fifteen Zoe has known that she was a powerful witch. She is apart of a wolf pack that is protected by priest and priestess of different calibers. Zoe has earned the title the Wiccan of the Pack, the most powerful of all the priestesses. All Zoe wanted was to get respect and recognition from the pact. She did not want to be know as the courtesan of the tribe. She refused to be anyone’s plaything. That’s all she wanted when she went before the Alpha of her tribe, Nikoli and pleaded to him and the Elders. However, what she did not expect to is to become the Alpha’s mate. Nor did she expect to have a dominate power that has been hidden from her since birth.

Chapter 1 Refusal of the Name

It had to be done.

That's what Zoe thought as she left the temple grounds. Even though everyone around her was telling and explaining to her that Zoe was going against tradition, she did not care.

She refused to continue as she was expected to be treated lower than dirt. She would not be subjugated for the rest of her life. Zoe Archer was a Wiccan of the Crescent Moonstone wolf pack. She was half human but not considered it like the others. For many reasons, it was because she never thought of her heritage and lineage outside of her mother and the coven.

Zoe’s mother was a priestess of the tribe. However, Zoe had no idea whom her father might be. She had stopped asking questions years ago. She stopped trying to find out after the age of fifteen. For her entire life Zoe had always resided in the Moon Goddess Temple high in the mountains.

She only have ever made the journey down was with her mother for the rituals dance that she would have to perform or when the new Alpha was crowned years ago.

Hell I do not even go down to erect the barrier to protect the village. The temple monastery has an area for me to do so at my leisure.

Like any other tribe there were always intruders that threatened their way of life. Whether its rogue wolves or outside forces the higher ranking wolves of the pack use this time to run perimeters. It is her duty to keep the tribe and the pack save from outside harm while the Alpha and other wolves investigate.

So why? Why am I treking down the monastery steps to ask for an audience between myself and the council?

There were many problems that Zoe could see arising by calling a meeting with the council and with him.

When Zoe had turned fifteen, her abilities grew to the most powerful witch in the pack. This granted her the title of Wiccan of the Pact. However, that was not the only title that Zoe had received.

Soon she found out from other wolves that her title was also known as Whore of the Pack. The first time Zoe heard that title was when she was fetching water by the river. Two wolves in the pack snickered and said heinous things to her.

Zoe ran to her mother as well as the High Priestess and they confirmed everything the wolves said. Wiccan of the Tribe. Zoe was also the Whore of the Pact. That meant that she had two choices to make. Either would impact her life and the coven.

If Zoe swore herself a virgin and took no love, she would never be able to leave the temple. She would see no one but the sisters of the temple and her mother. And the tribe would not gain any power from the threshold that was Zoe’s powers.

However, if she decided to take the title, Zoe would not only lay with the Alpha of the tribe but she would also have her blood spilled to insure that the tribe’s land and power base prosper for generations even after her death. However the downside is that she could never marry. Zoe would never have a mate. Zoe would never know true love and comfort.

Looking at both choices was a lose-lose for herself and a win for everyone around her.

Zoe would be treated like a piece of meat to any wolf or were that deemed her worthy of his/her company. If there was a banquet or meeting with neighboring tribes she would be given as an offering to the brother pact’s Alpha.

Anyone could understand Zoe’s confusion and even her anger that she felt when trying to understand that she would continue to be humiliated yet it depended on when the tribe needed her.

When she reached the hall where the council met, Zoe was ushered in by a young she-wolf of the pact. The she-wolf sneered at Zoe.

“The council will see you now.” She growled as she walked away. Zoe could not blame the wolf for how she felt towards the witch.

There were rumors that said that if a mated wolf requested to lay with Zoe, she could reject them if she wanted. The last Wiccan of the Pack did not deny any wolf in her bed. Or at least that was what was told to Zoe. No one has yet to find her journal entries.

When the doors opened and Zoe quickly walked in letting the train of her white dress trail behind her. Since this was an official meeting as Wiccan of the Tribe her mother told her that she needed to dress in the traditional wardrobe.

Zoe wore a white loose dress that hooked at the shoulders. On her head would have been the ceremonial headdress but Zoe decided to forgo it to let her curls be styled in an updo. It made her hair almost as large as the headdress.

Walking in the table sat the alpha. Alpha Nikoli in the middle. On his left was his beta, Alexandre and on his right sat the Omega, Dire. They were to attend all of the meetings no mater how trivial they may be.

As Zoe kneaded with her head down she could feel the intensity of the Alphas' power. The pure power and rage alone was intoxicating for her soul. she could only image what it was doing to the others in the room.

His omega Dire was as Zoe could tell was riding the wave. His beta Lex was fearing for the very terror he was feeling. Even the elder wolves of the pact could feel Nikoli’s strength. He had been the first Alpha in generations to be inducted at the young age of 15, however even at a young age he was never respectful of me or any of the other priestesses that dwelled in the mateship temple in the cave above the village.

Like Zoe, there were other witches that lived amongst the weres and wolves however, many of them did not socialize unless it was necessary.

His aggression called to us as he addressed the elders. “Who is this,” he bellowed.

“This Alpha Nikoli, is our Wicca of the Pact. She has come with thoughts of our pact as well as the coven to help us come together.” One of the elders muttered. Even though they were twice his age they feared him.

“Is that so,” the Alpha said as he looked down at Zoe. There was no doubt that he was judging her. While he never acknowledged Zoe by name, she knew the rules. Even if she was the most powerful witch in the entire pact, maybe even in the area, Zoe was one of the lowest on the totem pole. That title made her less than nothing.

“So the whore of the tribe wishes to speak with me,” the wolf gruffed. Zoe tried not to flinch at the utterence of the insult.

Don’t call me that. I really hated that name.

“Alpha, if you would, the Wicca wishes not to be addressed by that title.”

He chuckled, “Really, well there is not much we can do about that, can we? If she is dubbed the Wicca of the Tribe, that is her title.” At that moment, Zoe felt a warm finger touch her chin and raise her sight to eye level. To the Alpha’s eye level.

She had almost forgotten how handsome he was, that is, until he calls her out of her name.

Again.

“What say you whore,” Nik said.

There was rage trembling throughout Zoe’s body.

“I am not a whore,” Zoe muttered. I had spoken out of turn.

“What was that?” This time her chin was engulfed in his hands and she could see the full view of his face. The dark embers of his eyes fan flames of anger. Zoe could hear the growl in his voice.

She had forgotten that Alpha Nikoli’s eyes were the color of roses. Of rage. Of blood.

“What was that,” the base of his voice grew louder.

“I will not be called a whore,” Zoe screamed at him. At that moment, the impacted of Zoe’s rage pushed everyone back. She felt something that she could not believe. Power.

She looked at the Alpha and saw his eyes tremor from crimson to coal.

Fire, rage, anger, but none of it was his.

Is this from me. Zoe thought.

She could not believe that she could be the cause of such intense emotions. The coven had taught her to control her temper and quell her fury, but something inside of her demanded that she break free. It demanded that Zoe push back for what she wanted.
