Chapter 1 Classmate cruelty

As I step my foot in front of the class with Miss Serena, seeing the face in front of me makes my heart racing with anticipation and a little anxiety.

"Quiet, class! Miss Serena's voice cut true to the chatter. We have a new student joining us today. Please welcome Abigirl ."

I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves as I scan the sea of strange faces in front of me. my voice trembling as I begin my introduction."Hello everybody. My name is Abigirl and I'm...I'm your new classmate."

With everyone's attention on me, the room became quiet. Like a tangible touch, I could feel the weight of their stare. While some of the pupils appeared interested, others appeared uninterested or even antagonistic.

A murmur, like a whispered rumor that spreads swiftly, swept through the class as I was done speaking. I heard bits and pieces of speech, and every one made my face flush with shame.

"Wow, she looks really...plain," someone whispered.

"I understand, correct? Another student concurred, saying, "She's not exactly the most polished person I've ever seen."

Their remarks stung me, like a blow to my self-confidence. It seemed like I was already being evaluated and found wanting, which made me anxious about fitting in.

At that moment, a girl with an air of authority and a confident smile got up from her chair. "Hi, I'm Faith, the class prefect," she added, her tone brimming with conceit. "Abigirl , welcome to our school. You'll fit right in, I'm sure.

I was made to feel lonely by the somewhat arrogant tone of her replies. In an attempt to seem more assured than I actually was, I forced a smile. "Thank you, Faith. Getting to know everyone is something I'm excited about.

I couldn't help but worry what the rest of the year would hold as I sat down. Would I be an outsider who is constantly observing, or would I be able to establish myself and gain the respect of my peers? Time would tell.

"Go sit down," Miss Serena urged.

Okay, I'm grateful, Miss. I answered.

"There are plenty of seats and the class is large enough, so feel free to sit wherever you like," she said.

I slowly make my way to the vacant front seat, my face full of conversation.

Hello Abigirl .Are you at ease on that chair? She gave me a disgusted look.

Thank you; I'm good here. "My name is Fridel, she said.Would you like to be friends?"

I glanced at her, Startled mutter, "Is this girl trying to play me?" as to why she asked to be my buddy and gave me that look. and bewildered.

I observe that practically everyone is on me after waiting for a while, and I'm at a loss for what to do.

"Don't you want to be my friend?" she inquired.

This chick was even pretending to be a big girl without even accepting someone's offer of friendship. What the fuck? They started murmuring. Almost half of the posts burst out laughing.

I backed away into the safety of my book, the words ambiguous together as I tried to escape the uncomfortable atmosphere.

The classroom dissolved into a gentle hum, a soothing and gentle atmosphere that calmed my anxious nerves. I assumed the earlier encounter with Fatima was just a minor blip, a fleeting moment of awkwardness.

However, my relief was brief.

"Hey Abigirl !" The voice cut through the air, sharp as a razor's edge.

I turned and met Frida's cold gaze with a sinking heart. Her glance seemed to be a chilly, deliberate challenge that sought to pierce my entire soul.

"Do you actually think I want to be friends with you?" Frida's voice dripped with venom, every syllable is a well crafted insult.

I felt a sting, akin to a face-slap. My heart racing, I watched in slow motion as Fridel slammed a book onto her head, the sound echoing through the classroom like a shot.

My instincts told me to respond, safeguard myself against Frida's nasty comments.

But something was holding me back, perhaps a spark of self-defense or a dash of common sense.

to my own face.

I decided to overlook Frida's ignorance and rise above the petty drama.

I kept my things with a certain dignity in my bag and crept out of the classroom to get some water from the food vendor.

The steady drumming of my own heartbeat filled my ears as I walked, echoing my mounting uneasiness, and I couldn't get rid of the sensation that Fridel's words had sparked something within me, maybe a spark of rebellion or a will to prove myself.

Whatever it was, I was confident that I would not let Frida's brutality define who I was. With my head held high, I would rise above and demonstrate that I was more than simply a prey for her poison.

I quickly get back to class and head straight to my seat. I drink some water and put the rest in my locker.

I turn to carry my books and bag, but I can't seem to find them everywhere.

"As soon as I realized they had taken my school bag, I let out a loud cry and bit my tongue, but staying composed for a moment didn't help. At that moment, I erupted into a loud outburst

"The classroom, once a hubbub of noise was plugged into silence, everyone eye on me.their gaze unblinking.

"Please return it if you are the one responsible! I commanded, my voice quivering with rage.

"Fridel's words were dripping with venom, and her voice sliced through the air like a dagger. "Where exactly do you think you are?" she asked sneeringly, her eyes glimmering with contempt.

Do you think you belong in a pitiful little fantasy world or your own personal playground?

This time, Fridel got up and picked on my head directly in front of my table.

"You arrogant little brat, you'd better keep your mouth shut," Fridel spat in a bitter tone. "You're interfering with our conversation, and to be honest, no one is interested in what you have to say."

"The poor thing's gone mute. Guess that's what happens when you're out of your depth."

"You can't do anything little brat", Fridel altered.
