Haunted by memories of the past, he struggled to understand why, after three years, he still couldn't free himself from the thoughts of his ex, Cecilia. As he sat alone in his room, he found himself lost in the recollection of their time together.

Sensing her distress, Daniel questioned her with a concerned expression, "What's wrong, dear? You seem upset."

"Are you truly unaware of the problem, Daniel?" Cecilia snapped, her anger rising. "What's today's date? You instructed me to prepare for a romantic evening together, yet here I am, still waiting for our date to begin."

"My deepest apologies, dear. I completely forgot," Daniel confessed, fully aware that he had let her down once again.

This wasn't the first time Daniel had ruined their plans. Today was meant to be a celebration of Cecilia's birthday, yet even on this special day, he had failed to follow through on his promises.

"Your apologies have become a tiresome routine, Daniel. They've lost their meaning," Cecilia lamented, her disappointment evident.

In an attempt to salvage the situation, Daniel offered, "I'll make it up to you, I promise. Work has been overwhelming." However, his excuses only seemed to further highlight his neglect.

Forgetting one's girlfriend's birthday is an inexcusable mistake, especially when it was he who made the plans. Cecilia's frustration was understandable, and his failure to prioritize her left a deep hurt in her heart.

"I'm sorry, Daniel, but I can't continue to deal with all of this," Cecilia finally declared. "I think we should take some time apart."

Daniel's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean, Cecilia? Are you breaking up with me?" he asked, his voice trembling with uncertainty.

As the weight of her words sunk in, Daniel struggled to comprehend the implications of their conversation. Was Cecilia merely suggesting a temporary separation, or was it a permanent end to their relationship?

"I'm not planning on breaking up with you," Cecilia replied, her tone firm. "I am breaking up with you." Her words left no room for misinterpretation, leaving Daniel to face the reality of their irrevocable parting.

"Please, Cecilia, don't do this to me... to us," Daniel pleaded, desperation tingling his voice. "You know how much I love you. I promise I'll change. Please don't leave me."

"It's over, Daniel," Cecilia replied, her voice steady and final. "I can't do this anymore."

As a symbolic gesture, Cecilia removed her engagement ring and placed it gently on his couch.

"Please, just think about your decision," Daniel begged, taking her hand in his. "I can't imagine a life without you."
