Third person POV

“I’m here! Guys! Sorry for being late”, Zoe said over the blazing music, running to the spot where her girls were seated. They all shot her the “as-usual” looks as they laughed. The bar's music vibrated the whole environment. This was just what Zoe needed after a stressful week.

“I can’t believe we’re still keeping up with this, year after year!” Sophia yelled, trying to get her voice past the music.

“ I know right?” Zoe replied as she grinned.

Emily chimed in, saying something inaudible, as she brought her drink up. Understanding the gesture, they all clinked their shot glasses together and downed the tequila, wincing at its burning sensation.

They took shot after shot until their conversation turned into a hilarious mix of nonsensical words and laughter. Zoe Reynolds lived for this! An escape from the boring life she lived with her sister, Sarah. They developed a routine from childhood, going through an abusive mum who left them to do the world alone. Those were the times in her life she tried to forget, tried to erase totally but they hung to her.

She knew she was nothing like her late mum, but the fear of repeating the same mistake haunted her, making her vow never to bring a child into the world. And so far, she was making progress. At twenty-two, she was still a virgin!

As they took more shots, Sophia got an idea. Zoe was a very pretty girl but for some unknown reasons to her, Zoe never had any sexual experience to talk about, she was always a listener in this kind of scenario.

Sophia leaned towards Emily, “Hey, I think I might have an idea,” this was obviously an alcohol-fueled idea. “Let’s give Zoe an encounter she won’t forget, that’s if she remembers anything by tomorrow, she’s dead wasted! Such a light-headed girl” she said as they both gave a little tipsy laughter.

“I could bet you guys are gossiping about me” Zoe interrupted as she too gave a little giggle.

“Yh right!” another giggle from the trio. “Zoe darling, why not head to the bathroom, we have a pleasant surprise for you there,” Emily said.

“A surprise for me, and you chose the bathroom. Ewww, Yuck, what could it be”, Zoe replied jokingly, suppressing a burst of laughter.

“Goooo, we’re comingg,” Sophia said, slightly pushing Zoe.

“Alright, alright, I’m going” Zoe replied. And Emily, Sophia shot each other knowing glances.

As Zoe waited in the bathroom, she did what all girls loved to do, took out her little makeup bag from her purse, and decided to retouch her face.

Between the dabs of lip gloss and strokes of mascara, her curiosity was piqued, “What are those girls up to, a surprise they said.” As she let out giggles.
