Chapter 1 New Beginning

The first thing she saw as she was still on her seat in her car, driven by her personal driver was the big logo of her new school in the right side of the school, looking around she saw a smaller version of the logo on the top of the school’s main building, so far she has counted three floors.

‘The school had better have an elevator’ she mutters to herself.

The next thing she notice is the crowd of people, well, students swimming around the school, both boys and girls and the breath she has been holding since, hoping and praying that whatever statistic of the school’s student she saw earlier was false. She was definitely mistaken, the school has a large population. No, large was too small of a comparison to Manchester Academy, the school was huge!

How did her mum expect her to survive in this school, a mixed school. All her life as far as she could remember, though, she has been homed schooled before her mum decides to take her to an all female school at the beginning of middle school. Now she is here in this school for senior year on her mum’s pretext again. Saying and she quotes

“Kerra my dear, you know I want the best for you so I am taking you out of that dumb school I put you in. You’re going to another school, this time private and mixed, you’re gonna be seeing both boys and girls not just girls alone all the time”

As soon as she hears the words from her mum her spoon which she was using to eat in their mahogany factory made dinning fell off her hand and down to the floor. Like she was not even the one who took her to the dumb school herself. That was one hell of a shoe that fell on her head. As if her mum’s word and the spoon fall was not enough, when she decides to angrily stand up from her chair to walk to her room without saying a word to her mother, cause she knows it would all go to waste, her chair fell over and she came stumbling over with it.

She hits her butt on the ground, hard.

It seems like as if the world is all against her walking away from her mum. She just sits down there on the floor and puts her hand round her legs as she gathers herself together. Her mum comes towards her to check if she has hurt herself in any way

“Jesus Kerra. That is why we use word to defend ourselves instead of stubbornness and violence. And where you even about to walk away from me?” Seriously she still remembers that at this moment? As her mum was about to touch her she shouts out and the tears she didn’t know was coming starts to come out.

This attitude of hers definitely shocks her mum, but what gives? She does not care about anything at this moment. She wants to ruin her life. What about all her friends, well not exactly friends cause she finds it hard making one, but she at least her class mates. This makes her shed more tears before she finally gives into her mum’s shoulder to cry on. She was her mum after all.

Thinking about that moment with her mum was making tears want to come out again but she force them away. She was not going to act like a spoilt brat on her first day in school.

‘Manchester Academy, here I come.’ She mutters again as she looks at the building and people from her seat.

Shy was an understatement for her, some refer her to as an introvert but whatever it was people refer her to she does not mind as long as they don’t put her as the center of attraction.

She contemplates coming out of the car, her driver must have noticed this cause he asks

“Are you dropping now ma’am?”

“Of course Fredrick, just, you know …” Fredrick cuts her

“Afraid, shy, scared? Well I will tell you it is normal to be scared as you’re all of a sudden moving to a mixed school. It’s a lot to take in.” She somehow always find comfort when her driver talks to her, not that she was ever going to tell her mum that, cause she must not know she has a strong tie with one of her numerous workers.

“I will just walk you to the reception, get things started on settling you in and when you are busy doing some things I will get your luggage” Oh! Did I forget to tell you she was going to be a boarder, well yeah, she is going to be in the hostel in her new school.

“No need for that Fredrick. All registrations have been settled, all I just need to do is to settle in. my classes has been fixed to just to look for my class which is easy to find, I think” She says as she looks back at the school building.

For a fact, her formal school in term of structure is better than Manchester Academy but to her all she just wants to do is to disqualify the school in every way. She does not like the school neither does she like the mixed system of the school. One way or the other she gonna have to find a way to survive her stay in the school.

“Ready now?” Fredrick asks

“Yeah, sure. Of course” She swallows her spite and opens her door. Her first step out, then the other, before she finally stands straight to her feet. Coming out she uses her glasses for sun prevention. Skin care, her mother would always tell her, is not to be jokes about.

She notices a lot of scares and she wonders if it was her or her driver who just got down they were looking at. She finally notice it was her driver, well, to say she is surprised would be a lie. She gets it all the time. That reminds her of her formal school again, when so many girls would come to greet her only to ask for his number at the end. But as a savage that she is, she either shut them or not reply at all. This school, of course would be no difference.

“Why do you have to look so handsome and you make my life a living hell?” She asks as she looks at him through her glasses. Fredrick pulls his hand upward towards his heart to fake a hit

“I am touched by your compliment, but how do I make your life a living hell?” He asks her back as if he does not know what she is talking about

“Oh really, so you don’t know how you make life difficult for me. Once you leave me alone you would see an ocean of females moving around me, trying to as for your number, and what do you leave me to do? I have to savage them and not answer, meaning they all hate me. In short, I’ve gat no friends”
