Chapter 1 His hero

Chapter 1

...

...

The man's eyes opened widely as two caves when he stared in shock at the girl holding a knife in her hands. The girl, who was pressing on his bed, instantly froze in her place as her eyes went round so big.

"This is bad!" she murmured just before she raised her knife again and swished it towards him.

Even though she had made sure that Prince Evans slept soundly by giving him a triple dose of the sleeping potion in his drink, the devil still woke him up in time to dodge the attack.

"Why am I so unlucky??!" she yelled as she kept moving her knife towards his body. "Die, Evans Evergreen!!"

She had infiltrated into his palace, disguised herself as a maid and stole her ID to pass through the palace easily, then a sleeping potion that would die him off.

Just before she swung her knife, a keen hand gripped tightly at her wrist and kept squeezing it until she screamed loudly. The killer felt an icy cold metal on her nape, even though she did not check on it, but she knew it was a sword.

"Ahhh!!!" screamed the killer. "Leave me alone!!"

"Ever since I have been protecting Prince Evans," murmured a young lady with a masculine tone, "no one has ever scratched him and no one has ever escaped my sword!"

The handsome blonde-headed prince sat in his bed and leaned on the headboard. His eyes, which were sleepy and drowsy before, had narrowed and turned super serious and alerted.

"You want to kill me?" mocked Prince Evans as the young lady swiped a light cut at the killer's skin "Who ordered you to kill me? Is it my brother, Arlong?"

"I... Ah... I do not know!" moaned the killer as she refused to answer.

"If you confess and tell me ordered you to disguise yourself into my castle and act as my maid, I will not give you a gruesome death, otherwise I will have to leave you for this lady."

"No... I beg you... Anything but her!!!"

She knew very well how cruel the woman was before her. She would not hesitate to punish anyone who dared to defy the prince, by beheading them, torturing their bodies or cutting them into four.

The killer's hands grew weaker, imagining the terrible fate that awaited her if she fell into the hands of that woman. So, the knife slipped out of her grasp and fell to the ground with a clanking sound.

"Hmm... you still refuse to answer." Glared Evans. "Then, you would wish your life ended by today, but I will never allow it to end your suffering."

"Aaaahhhhh!!!" screamed the killer. "Die you!! Die! Die! Dieeeee!!!"

Suddenly, the killer picked up the knife from the floor and immediately attacked him again, so the lady behind her slashed her neck hastily and her blood splashed and splattered over the bed. It would have been better for her to die back then and there, rather than being beheaded as a traitor and a lowly servant in the square.

The young lady could do anything to defend the prince, without even feeling guilty about anyone. Her heart was cold and emotionless towards anything that hurt her prince.

"Thank you, Erika..." thanked the prince as his face was coldly staring at the dead woman in front of him "You always saved my life."

"It is my duty, royal prince." Replied the knight called Erika.

"And you ask me why I hate women?"

"I have never asked you."

"Cold as ever..."

"You can return to your sleep, royal prince, I am always protecting you."

"How about you sleeping with me so that I feel safer?"

"Pardon me."

"Cold as ever..."

Just as Erika went out of the prince's room, his prime minister, who was his best friend, rushed into his room with worried eyes and checked over his body for any injuries.

"Are you alright, your majesty??" cried Alan, the prime minister.

"...." Evans stayed silent

"Hey, Evanssss!!! Just are you alright???"

"Uh... I..."

"Are you hurt anywhere?"

"Here... In my heart..."

"Where????!!!"

"She was amazing..."

"Eh?"

"Erika is wonderful! I can not believe that she could reveal a woman's lies and kill her like that!! Ahhh! Her eyes were glimmering seriously when she was boldly protecting me! She is just so strong and powerful, I can not believe that such a woman exists."

"Prince Evans, captain Erika has been doing the same job for 5 years and you are still fangirling about her like a teenage princess. You are 25 years old now. Just marry her."

"About that... She does not love me..."

Erika Wilson was a 22-year-old chief captain and the personal body guard of Prince Evans Evergreen. Erika had taken after her father's will and protected the prince after the father's death in a war. Erika was a powerful woman, stronger than thousands of men, and a brilliant captain that could aid Evans and take the place of his dead parents.

As Evans was physically weak and had a sickling body, he needed a strong person by his side, so it was Captain Wilson. However, after her father's death, his daughter, and the childhood friend of the prince, took the job after him and defended him for 5 years. As a result, Evans's heart went crazy for her, without being able to realize her true feelings.

"She did not even ask me whether I was alright or not... She coldly killed the assassin and went away..." whispered Evans, disappointedly, as the sound of his heartbeats were louder than thunders. For the first moment, he wanted her badly by his side as she was his peace and safety.

"Girls are hard, boy. You must manage to attract her, Ev." Commented Alan. "Now, get a bit of rest and prepare for the morning. I will ask you to remove the corpse and clean the blood."

"Yes..."

"Do not get depressed."
