Chapter 1 A Love Confession

It was a beautiful summer day. Riley was sitting in his class and was waiting for the school bell to ring.

As soon as the bell rang, Riley ran out of his class, and behind him, Dean, his best friend, followed him.

Dean was shouting from behind to stop Riley, but Riley didn't listen to Dean. He kept running until he reached the place he called Miles today.

After reaching there, he looked around to see if there was any other student other than him, but no, there was no one until Dean came there too.

"Please don't say anything. I already know what you are going to say." Riley said, as he saw Dean was about to open his mouth to say something.

"But you know he'll beat you if you say something weird again." Dean said.

"Oh. Don't worry. He can't beat my handsome face again and again, can he?" Riley smiled as he ruffled his hair.

Dean rolled his eyes and sighed. 'Like he didn't do anything last time and before that.' Dean knew that Riley was going to get beaten hard this time.

"Fine. Do whatever you like to do. But then don't call me for help."

"Okay, I won't." Riley immediately replied. He was going to confess to Miles today, and nobody could stop him from doing so.

"Why do you always—" Dean was again going to say something, but stopped as he saw miles coming behind Riley.

Riley turned his head to see what had made Dean stop lecturing him, and now he was stunned too, but unlike Dean, not out of fear but because Miles was again looking handsome.

"I guess I must go now," Dean said before running away to save his life.

Now only Riley and Miles were left there. They both were looking at each other quitely before Miles said,

"So say it. Why did you call me today? But remember, don't say anything stupid or don't blame me for beating you." After giving the warning, Miles leaned on the tree behind him and waited for Riley to speak.

Riley's heart was beating fast. He didn't know where to start, but he had to say it.

"Senior." He started as he raised his head to look at miles. " I...I want to go on a date with you."

At first, Miles was surprised by Riley's words, but then he smiled and started laughing loudly. No one had ever joked with him like this before. Although Riley comes up with something stupid to say every day, this was the funniest one.

"Haha, this is a really funny joke, kid. Don't any girl want to date you so that you come to me?" Miles said and laughed with more heart.

"But I'm not joking. I'm serious." Riley said confidently.

The smile on Miles' face suddenly faded.

"Do you forget last time's beating?" Miles asked with a scary look on his face.

'How can I? It's still hurting where you kicked me last time.' Riley thought as he touched his butt.

Seeing where Riley was touching, Miles slapped his forehead. Of course, Miles knew where he had beaten him; he didn't need to highlight it like that.

"I haven't forgotten." Riley looked into Miles' eyes. "And I'm serious about what I said. I really want to date you."

"Shut up! Am I joke you? Do you act like this with your other seniors too?" Miles clenched his fists tightly, trying to remain calm. He really didn't want to hit this boy again.

Riley took a step forward, grabbed Miles by his shoulders, and said, looking into his eyes,

"I'm not joking. I truly---" Before Riley could complete his words, a heavy punch hit his face and knocked him to the ground.

Miles grabbed him by his collar and stood him up before giving Riley another punch, which hit his nose hard.

Riley touched his nose, and it was hurting. He started feeling dizzy, and before complete darkness came over his eyes, he heard his senior calling out his name.

"Hey, hey, get up. Don't die here." Miles patted Riley's cheek as he tried to wake him up, but Riley didn't respond.

'Don't tell me that he fainted with just two punches?' Miles was dumbfounded.

Miles looked down at Riley's face, and he wasn't looking good. Miles was worried now. Of course he hated this guy, but he didn't want anything to happen to him.

'Why in hell do I always get involved with this guy?' Miles felt angry at his own luck.

'Sigh. This is embarrassing, but I have to do this.' Miles thought to himself before he picked Riley up in his arms and made a run towards the school's infirmary.

***

( In The Infirmary )

Miles lays Riley on the patient's bed and asks the nurse to examine him. The poor nurse was eating her lunch, but they disturbed her midway. Well, it wasn't something new for her. Every day the students fight, and then they run here to rest.

She got up from her desk and went to see the boy.

The nurse did a check-up and saw that the boy was fine except for the red nose. She gave Riley some painkillers and put some ointment on his nose to prevent swelling.

She asked Miles who did this, and Miles lied to her and said that he didn't know; he just found him laying in the ground, so he brought him here. Miles looked at Riley as he answered. Although Miles never cared about anyone, especially those who bothered him, he was worried about this boy.

As the nurse went out of the infirmary to bring some medicines from the outside stores, Miles sat down next to the bed on the table and stared at the guy who was having a rest after taking some painkillers.

"Hey, stupid, how long are you going to sleep here? Get up and tell me that you are alright. And don't tell the teachers that I beat you." Miles gently rubbed his thumb on Riley's hand as he said this in a low voice, as he didn't want Riley to hear it.

Miles' eyes fell on Riley's nose, which was red and slightly swollen. He reached out his hand and touched the tip of it. "Is it hurting?" Miles asked Riley.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hit you this hard." Miles gently stroked Riley's hair, and unconsciously, he got up from the table and brought his face closer to Riley's forehead. He himself didn't know what he was doing.

"What are you doing?" A voice came from behind Miles, and Miles came back into his senses. He immediately took a step back from Riley and said, "Nothing. I just wanted to see if he was okay?"

"No, he isn't okay. But that isn't a way to see if someone is okay or not." The nurse munched on her cereal bar.

'She had gone to get the medicine, so how did she come so fast?' Miles thought to himself.

'But why did he bring his face so close to him? What exactly was he thinking of doing? No. No. No. I wasn't thinking of anything bad.' Miles shook his head in No.

The nurse was confused as to why he was shaking his head like that.

After looking at Riley for one last time, Miles got out of the infirmary and headed to his class.

This was the first time that Miles attended his classes continuously, but even though his body was there, his mind was in the infirmary. So as soon as the classes were over, he ran to the infirmary to see if Riley was still there. But he wasn't.

The nurse told Miles that Riley's parents had come and taken him home.

Hearing that, Miles gulped. Now Riley's parents knew about it. Miles was worried that they would come find him tomorrow and take him to the principal. He didn't want much—just a peaceful school life, and he has had it. but for the last three months, it has been disturbed by that boy. Every day he came to him with a strange proposal or a strange question, and today he asked him out on a date. It was too much for Miles to ignore.

"Don't worry. If someone else was in your place, he would have done the same thing." Now, Miles was defending himself, so he doesn't feel guilty for Riley.

Miles walked out of school, but all the way home he was thinking about Riley and what he had told him. He didn't want to think about it, but his mind was replaying those words over and over in his head.

Due to frustration, Miles hit his head on the street light on the way, and it hit him hard. After that, he walked to his home with wobbling steps.

As he reached his home, his mother asked why his forehead had a red mark, but he didn't want to tell her about his stupidity. So without saying anything to her, he went to his room and closed the door behind him so that she wouldn't come and ask him.
